Overall a very good experience. Impressive waiter, accommodating host and food was creative and authentic.
Will go back!!
This was hands down the worst dining experience we have had in a very long time. The service was terrible from start to finish:
1. The appetizers took so long to come out that by the time we saw our waiter after ordering, he asked how they were. He was completely unaware that we hadn't even received them. He then went to put the order in again, so we waited again. They were delicious when they arrived.
2. Our group had two couples who each ordered a few dishes for the entree - we received one of our dishes, and the other couple received all of their mains. We all finished the food that was brought out, and we still had received no communication or sign of our remaining entree.
3. The waiter came by again to ask if we were ready to order dessert - we informed him we still hadn't received our Vermicelli noodles, which he then went and put the order in. At that point, the other couple ordered another dish so they'd have something to eat at the same time.
4. The Vermicelli finally came out, and the other couple never received their other order.
The waiter comped our Vermicelli, but the bill was still incredibly high for the terrible experience we had, with insanely long wait times between courses, our waiter being completely of touch with our meal, not closely tracking to make sure we got our dishes, doing checks incorrectly. We closed out, paid the expensive bill, and went to leave. On the way out, I pulled the manager aside quietly to (very politely) share my disappointment - I was excited to try the restaurant and was let down from start to finish and just wanted to make sure he was aware. He stared at me blankly and said nothing, until I finished and said that he hopes we'd come back again. He didn't apologize or try at all to make up for it - he didn't even seem fazed that we had a bad experience. Needless to say we will never go back - hopefully the Lakewood location is better, would recommend trying that if you insist on dining at Mot Hai Ba.
Casey thank you again for speaking with me over the phone regarding your visit. And thank you for taking the time to explain your experience in detail in your review. Happy Holidays to you and your family. We'll look forward to hopefully seeing you again soon.
First time there.
Excellent, knowledgeable staff. The pho was a delicious mosaic of flavors.the chef served the entree, perfect touch. Highly recommend.
Every morsel I ate was outstanding. This will be one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. When I think about all the food I ate I can’t help but smile because it was so good.
creative cuisine, the right portions, high quality ingredients. Garlic noodles to die for and so are the stuffed wings!
Definitely one of our favorite places to eat. The flavors in the food is an experience in itself. It was our first time at the Victory Park location since we usually go to the Lakewood location. We were not disappointed. It is spacious and the decor is lovely.
Inventive cuisine, helpful staff, and a great wine list. This is my new go-to in Victory Park!
Amazing food and wonderful place. Love it for any occasion or without occasion at all, just to have fantastic food.
Amazing wine tasting!!!
Definitely awesome and my favorite chef and food! It is awesome! Must try!
Empty restaurant. Utterly rude staff. We walked before ordering. Terrible experience.
We really enjoyed outdoor seating at this new location, and the inside looked very nice, too. We did not really enjoy the live music (and we are performing musicians!); the amps were too loud for the setting. Our service was fantastic, and the food was delicious. We tried several appetizers and entrees and found them to be complex and outstanding. Highly recommend!
Unbelievable food!! Unbelievable service!! Friendly staff!!
Creative menu with fresh ingredients.....beautifully prepared and presented. Casual warm interior and also outside dining. Impeccable service by knowledgeable friendly staff. Fantastic seafood offerings, but if you like meat......it doesn’t get any better than the Shaken Beef. Great cocktails and wine list.
Food was amazing, the Pho is always a good idea and the shaking beef is one of the best meals in Dallas! Our server Flavio was very attentive and gave great recommendations.
Although we’ve been to the original Mot Hai Ba location, this was our first experience at the Victory Park location. The night was perfection. We dined outside on the patio, and the weather, live music and service made for an incredible evening. This is my favorite place in Dallas. Thanks to the entire staff for making our 20th anniversary extra special!
Brian the cute server was awesome and we had a very fun dinner!
Just amazing! Enough said. 🔥
The food was so good! Get the porkchop and a side of the garlic noodles. They will change your world.
Inventive dishes, cooked at the right temperature, presented beautifully by an attentive team of servers & managers. From the first moment checking in till departure, the dinner was delightful both for the palate and the eyes. We sat outside on a four top in the golden sunset hours, and listened to live guitar music (Friday night) as each dish arrived. We loved the Lakewood restaurant, but have to say that the Victory Park location is excellent and evolved in other ways. (The interiors is spacious & beautifully designed. The outside has 6-7 4-tops). Chef Krstic is creative, brings new tastes out of traditional ingredients, and also sprinkles the menu with some lesser known/used ingredients (i.e. super tender meat from lamb neck stewed) and creates a broad offering for both the more traditional and the adventurous eater alike. Been blessed to eat all over the world and Mot Hai Ba is a place right here in Dallas that one can experience international fare, prepared artfully, tastefully and priced more than fairly. Definitely one of my favorites in Dallas.
This is vietnamese fusion food but it is very good
The waitress was amazing as was the food. We sat outside and I will say the chairs were uncomfortable and there was no were to put your purse. I was not crazy about putting my white purse on the outside sidewalk and the chairs had rounded backs. Could improve their outdoor seating ambience.
Outstanding food, great new location and chef Peja knows how to bring it!
for some reason the taste and quality of the food has deteriorated
The staff was so helpful with suggestions. Food was delicious ands very different from what we expected. Location near American Airlines - look carefully for parking spots!!!
Absolutely wonderful! Such a special experience and the cuisines were so special and beautiful presented with extra touches from chef, Peja himself. Such a fun spot with great outside live music with a chill vibe.
We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed excellent food and service. We started with fresh oysters that were uniquely prepared with a chili oil sauce, then had the Vietnamese meatballs. Our main course meals were the pork dumplings and the baked fish. Everything is delicious and I would order all again.
Spectacular - pho is best in Dallas
Was looking for outdoor dining and this fit the bill. Delicious food.
Great food,love the new location!
Food was excellent. Wines amazing.
Our waitress, Alix was fantastic. She was very friendly and provided us with a wealth of information and suggestions as this was our first time to eat at the restaurant. The ambience was great. Very quiet and the booth was very clean and spacious for our party of 4. The food was exceptional from the appetizers to the main entrees. Overall a great experience, and I look forward to going back again soon and being a regular patron.
I came here for an early reservation. Enjoyed happy hour wine, cocktails and appetizers. Everything was absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed the setting. The music was super fun and the bartender had great recommendations (he made the best espresso martini, ever). My dining companion had some allergies and they were more than accommodating with providing her alternative selections and modifications. I will definitely be back!
Wine Sommelier and wine list exceptional and reasonably priced. Ask him his tips and he will make it a great experience
Fish quality and spices are extraordinary
Super delicious food. You can’t order wrong.
I look forward to eating here all the time and am never disappointed. The food is delicious , fresh, interesting, and unique, every time.
We love the Lakewood location so it was fun to check out the new Victory Park location!
I prefer this location to the original in Lakewood. The food is just as good – which is excellent – but the restaurant is much more comfortable, and the wine list and wine service are much improved. The sommelier, Lorenzo, was really good and helped us select a red blend from South Africa called Savage that we really enjoyed. And it really complimented the food too. The wines are temperature-controlled, and the glassware was nice. Our server was great too and helped us with our menu selections. We enjoyed the squash blossoms, beat salad with whipped coconut cream, shaking beef and dumplings. Some of the reviews of Mot Hai Ba are critical of its inauthenticity to Vietnamese cuisine. Maybe it is, but I don’t care – the food is excellent and as good as the venerable Slanted Door in San Francisco. I also left my keys at the restaurant and Uri was super helpful in reuniting me with them. We will be back soon.
Love this place!
Different than their original location but equally as good. Don’t believe the negative Yelp and Google reviews. It seems very evident that those have more to do with a disgruntled and jealous individual trying to bring down a successful restaurant than reality.
Yes, the prices (clearly marked on the website for you to see before you decide to visit) are higher than “traditional Vietnamese“ restaurants and maybe the food is not all totally authentic Vietnamese, but neither am I. If that is offensive to you go find a casual Pho place with zero atmosphere that you can eat at for $10 or less.
But if you like damn good food in a pleasing environment and don’t mind spending a bit more for a unique dining experience, then get here FAST!!
...and make sure to get the garlic noodles!!!!! 🍜
Interesting, tasty food that was beautifully presented. Good wine and drinks. Top notch service. Since we ate on the patio and never stepped foot in the restaurant itself, I cannot comment on the ambiance (but had to give it a rating). The only negative was the musician playing on the patio. He was actually decent but the volume was so high that it made hearing difficult.
