Kimchi and Foie Gras Dumplings
house made kimchi and foie gras dumplings with warm compote of D'anjou pears cooked in pear vinaigrette untill caramelized then topped with A5 wagyu ribeye and finished table side with a drop of sizzling and perfumy beef pho tallow
soy vinaigrette, pickled red onion, charred tomatoes, watercress
Sat on patio at 6:30. Flies and mosquitoes were out in full force. They had fans and each table had a small fan but it was still a problem. Otherwise it was great. We will be back but not on the patio in the summer
Great food and service!
I LOVE this restaurant! Food is delicious & service is always great. One of my favorite date night spots.
Amazing food and service. The waiters are very attentive and kind. The food is inventive and tasty.
The entire experience was SUPERB!! Our waiter was awesome too - thanks Ryan!!
Food was well prepared, but overpriced. Drinks were good. Opted for family style, which was recommended, but entrees were very small, more like small plates with entree pricing, and were served 2 at a time for 4 people. Not great.
Delightful experience. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The grilled octopus appetizer was tender, smoky, and delicious. My wife had the pork and peach entree which she refused, violently, to share. I ordered the foie gras dumplings which were a delight. We had one order of buttermilk beignets and coffee to top off a perfect evening. We will go back.
Hadn’t been here in a few years. Food was excellent as were cocktails. Service was professional.
Finally visited after COVID. Food was great; a different profile than most Vietnamese restaurants. Very loud! Next time we will sit outside. Also, portions for salad and entrees are right size but the server recommended two of a starter that we could have easily had one.
Always good. Inventive cocktails. Can’t resist the garlic noodles. The tomato and peach salad was superb, as were the foie gras dumplings, but the grouper at the next table looked just as good. Finished up with the beignets. Fabulous!
Our second time eating at Mot Hai Ba was just as amazing as the first! Super inventive menu that makes it almost impossible to decide what to order! We had scallops, kimchi dumplings, turnip dumplings, cucumber & tuna, chili book choy and the beignets for dessert. All of it was incredible and creative. We want to come back with enough people that we can order the entire menu and get a taste of everything we didn’t order this time.
Always a great choice! Would and have recommended numerous times.
We love it here! Chef Peja in the kitchen and a few look in the front! Can't wait to come back!
Impeccable food and service as always
Incredible food and service!
Simply love this place.
Best restaurant experience we have had in Dallas in many years. For a long time, we have stuck to ethnic food, as it delivers the best quality and taste. What a gem .
This has been my favorite neighborhood spot for years. I was shocked to walk in and find the original wood tables and bench-style seating was replaced with generic, uncomfortable metal chairs and tiny tables. Tables were packed in so tight the man behind me hit me in the back twice with his hand while telling a story, and was so close it felt like he was yelling into my ear all evening. It felt very claustrophobic and it was very loud. The cool ambiance is gone. The food was okay, the wine was delicious, the dessert was a miss (5 spice chocolate cake w Vietnamese ice cream - it tasted burnt and was dry). The restaurant was so strict during covid that it was such a 180 shift to experience it like this - the waiters weren’t wearing masks and they have to stand so close to your table / you in order to be heard in this new environment - she was yelling over our food & drinks which made us very uncomfortable. Really disappointed in this experience and how much my favorite place has changed. Unfortunately we probably won’t be going back.
Fantastic! Service was a delight, food was perfect beginning to end. So glad to have them back after the renovations- we especially loved having the new tables and chairs. A great evening celebrating Father’s Day.
First visit because we like Lakewood, & because for our wedding anniversary it was recommended as "romantic". No parking, empty overgrown lot right next door was first clue that maybe this was a mistake. Tiny indoor dining room was packed, so we had to sit on the patio encased in black & clear plastic in the HOT sun. Seated beside very noisy industrial fan. Waitstaff was not prepared for large party which took all of the attention. Two (2) scallops for $22. After a long wait, the waitstaff did try to compensate by being very friendly & tried to be attentive late into the meal. Avoid outdoor dining there until AFTER sundown, & definitely not a romantic spot.
Delicious plates with complex flavors. Top notch service. Highly recommend.
Good but not as good as I remember my first visit
Perfect date night and AMAZING food
My boyfriend and I have come to Mot Hai Ba a few times. We decided to pick it again for our anniversary. The food was excellent, as always. The staff was so sweet. Three different staff members wishes us a happy anniversary and then, they brought out a wonderful tiramisu for us. We will keep coming back to Mot Hai Ba Lakewood again and again for the amazing food and kind service. It was so appreciated.
Five of us each ordered an appetizer and an entree, together with a couple of side dishes. We shared them all. The food was very tasty.
Great cozy atmosphere and delicious and different food options. Would come back!
ALWAYS delicious and wait staff wonderful. Fun to go with a group so you can order a variety of items and serve family style.
Every server is knowledgeable about the dishes and how to present the highlights of the chefs work
Every dish came out hot, with warm plates
They are not afraid of answering question, making recommendations or providing guidance on menu or wine
Delicious food, inventive cocktails, romantic ambiance, lively energy but not noisy, an incredible experience.
Always an amazing meal!
30th birthday celebration.! Great food and friends.
I love this place. Please don’t anyone else go so that I can still get a table.
Our go to place for great food and service!!!
All our dishes had a great savory depth...more nuanced flavors than I had anticipated and all outstanding!
Delicious food and perfect experience! I absolutely was floored by the service and meal. As everyone on yelp suggests, get the garlic noodles.
Fabulous start the finish. The food is incredible and we were never rushed. A go to Dallas favorite!
It is always a treat to dine at Mot Hai Ba. The menu is creative and always delicious. This place is the total package.
Great food and service and would recommend to a friend. Serving size was a bit smaller than servers led us to believe.
Given that the weather is better now, I would've preferred the patio be without the plastic roof covering for COVID safety reasons. I did not expect that when I booked a patio table. Otherwise a fantastic experience.
