The staff is friendly. The happy hour is a small selections of items with inexpensive drink selections.
The best restaurant of the weekend. Marykate was our server and did a wonderful job. I started with a perfectly prepared Martini while my wife enjoyed a glass of Merlot.
I had the ribeye steak. So flavorful and tender! It came with lump crab mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. My wife had a generous burger - which I finished the next day.
The view was simply beautiful with views of the riverfront as well as magnificent ocean-going ships.
The manager stopped by to introduce herself and to make sure we were satisfied.
We will be back next time we are in Savannah.
View along the Savannah River was memorable.
The restaurant is in the Hyatt hotel with a nice view, but it is not sectioned off from regular hotel operations well. The hostess stand is hard to find if you enter from outside. The drink and food menu were well varied, but the restaurant was understaffed and wait times for food and drink were long. A patron at the table next to us broke a glass and no one came to check on her for assistance, even after her friend had to get a bandage from the bar. Overall, good food but poor service.
The ambiance was incredible. The views overlooking river street and the Savannah River were beautiful. We had poor service, but the food and views made it bearable.
Chose this restaurant for convenience since we were staying in Hyatt and it was raining and did not want to hustle with driving. Not even sure where to start :( The ice tea had three different shades in three different glasses from light to dark. The forty dollars steak was cold, not grilled and had a sour smell. We asked for bread never seen it. A box to go, did get one. We were there to celebrate my daughter's b.day and talked beforehand for a desert to be brought out with a candle, nope, like I never asked, oh, and the deserts we ordered were brought out without a spoon. Let’s just say the outdoor patio view of the river is nice, other than that not worth the money, plenty of places around, but the good ones were fully booked.
It took us 2 hours to eat our meal. The service
Was terrible. Appetizers were good, meal ok, dessert was burnt.
We had read reviews that the food was mediocre, and found that to be true. We were fortunate enough to be seated outside, however, and our view and atmosphere were beautiful.
Cobb salad not great, otherwise beautiful view
Waited to be seated with no one at concierge desk
Never asked if a reservation was called in
Didn't seem to care that a reservation was with OpenTable
Very quiet waitress
Food was adequate.
Stopped in for a light dinner, and we were seated quickly. Not sure why, but right after we were seated and waitress brought waters, suddenly many diners started to line up to be seated. I think it may have been too much for the late time of night, because it took a very long time to get our salads, flatbread pizza and fried green tomatoes. When we asked what desserts were available, we were told it would take 45 minutes to prepare because of the backup in the kitchen. So we left. The food we ordered was very good. So I would try this restaurant again. Slow service may have just been an accidental occurrence. Atmosphere was nice, and we were staying at the hotel, so it was convenient.
Beautiful view from the patio and live music on the Friday night we went.
Great place and service. I will definitely be back. My friend and I really enjoyed ourselves.
First off, the restaurant was freezing. Not cool, not cold, goose-bump inducing cold. We were seated quickly and a drink order was taken, but it was a very long wait for our drinks. We both ordered She Crab soup and entrees with sides. The soup was very good, the entrees were just OK but the sides were less so. We ordered a second round of beverages which once again took forever to arrive, and one of the orders wasn’t close to being correct. Even the replacement of the incorrect order took a long time. And this isn’t a cheap restaurant by any means.
I was disappointed with the quality of the food I got from M+O. It was recommended from my server that I stay away from the low country boil and get the M+O Burger. It was a complete waste of money. The double burger that looked and tasted like they were pulled straight from the freezer of McDonald's. We were seated near the bar, which was very close to the lobby of the hotel, and it was very loud and there was not even a small bit of privacy. Overall there are better places to eat in Savannah and we will not be coming back to Moss + Oak.
The food was horrible.
The she crab soup was amazing so we had high expectations for our meal (flat iron steak) the steak was tasteless and very disappointing. We heard good things about the restaurant so we were surprised. The service was attentive and the restaurant is nice but not very private
Had dinner reservations but decided to come early during happy hour (as advertised on your website) to have a drink on patio before dinner. It took awhile to find a hostess to ask if it was first cone first served on patio and when we finally found one we told yes. After that we sat for 15 min and no one came to take our order so we had to go find someone again. Once we did that we said we didn't want to miss happy hour and she said well you did. Your website said happy hour goes till 7 ( it was 6at that time) which I pulled that info on your website and showed it to her and she then showed me your menu which said 6. I asked her as consumers who have never come before and only can go by what website says..... which gets honored... website or menu we’ve never seen till now. The waitress said if we’d like a drink it would be what menu price was. We decided okay website is giving wrong info but since we could afford non happy prices we didn't leave. We were inclined to because between having to find someone to help us get seated plus getting wrong info about happy hour decided we are here might as well have a drink. We ordered and it took forever to get drinks and once we did they were no longer cold. We decided to leave at that point fearing dinner and service wouldn't be any better than the drinks experience! Sadly the 4 of us wont be back.
Much touted but not worth it.Food was mediocre and service was terrible.Need more servers .Noticed that bagle at breakfast was cold, suggesting it was defrosted recently.Food variety was limited as well.
We didn't realize that this was the lobby restaurant and bar top the Hyatt. It's not quite the romantic al fresco spot it looks like. Food variety and service were decent just not what we thought when reviewing online. Bunch of people for a conference were there drinking which got things louder. Like others have said, there's a hostess stand but nobody is managing it-so we sat at the bar.
It's a great location, full of promise. We had reservations and opted instead to sit out on the deck from which the river and river walk are visible. Our waitperson was charming/friendly. But it took way too long to get anything -- our drinks and then our food. We nearly gave up and went someplace else.
Perhaps it was an off night because the deck is fantastic and the food is pretty good. Give it a try -- we didn't see a better place for a river view.
The pot roast was outstanding! Loved the peach dessert. We sat at the bar and had excellent service all evening long!
I will probably go back another time but it wasn't the greatest exprience other than the service was wonderful. It might have just been a bad night in the kitchen (food came out either cool or undercooked). Menu options are good - something for everyone, which I like - they just need to make sure the food people are raving about on some nights gets served every night.
Fun experience overlooking the river and eating some yummy food!
There were a lot of people in the bar area and we had a kid and not a lot of table options so we left. The photos online make it look way more elegant and maybe if it wouldn't have been so cold we could have sat outside and that would have been nice. I am an atmosphere person so if I am not feeling it we typical move on to the next restaurant.
The flatbread is delightful -- would absolutely recommend! Service was pleasant, but not what I would call super attentive. Drinks were delicious, but a bit pricey.
My waitress Coleen was so great! She made sure all my food was vegan and was very down to earth and relatable! Next time I’m in Savannah I’ll be back for that vegan burger!! So good!
Be suspicious of southern fried chicken that only takes 10 minutes to prepare. Blah
Only okay if it's raining outside you want to walk nowhere else and you're staying at the hotel
View was beautiful, food tasted great, but food portions were very small for the price. Disappointing.
The food was delicious and we enjoyed sitting outside and watching the activity on the river and on River Street. Our only disappointment, no big ships came down the river while we were there!
Lina, our server, was amazing! She went above and beyond to accommodate us...even my 4 year old! Thank you so much for an amazing evening! We wish Lina lots of luck in hospitality as we know she will go far!!
Went for restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised by both the quality and quantity of the offering.
We had the short ribs and they were the best I've had in a long time. The ice cream sandwich for dessert was a meal in itself. The service was outstanding. While hotel dinning rooms are generally not my first choice, our dining experience at Moss & Oak would bring me back.
Our waitress was amazing. The food was great but portions are huge. The blaring horns on river street were a little much but we can’t do much about that.
We never got seated, the staff was “too busy” talking to each other to seat us, and just told us to sit where we want. Once seated, not one came to wait on us. We waited for 10-15 minutes. The waiter/waitress never came to get our order or even serve us drinks.
After waiting and not getting any service, we left the restaurant and went elsewhere. We were not the only ones either, there was another family that was in the same situation.
Very disappointing, considering we went out of our way and walked past many restaurants in order to go to this one. Not impressed
The food and drinks were excellent. We had a great view of the river walk. The only issue we had was where to check in for seating. There was no hostess stand and no one greeted us. I feel like we would have been ignored if I hadn’t stood at the bar until the two servers quit talking to acknowledge us.
Though we did enjoy dining at this restaurant, and the staff was friendly and the food selection diverse, I had to give a lower score because the food order was incorrectly taken for one of the dishes and when the dish was corrected (it was chicken) and finally bought out, it was very under-cooked. We had taken a few bites before noticing, so there was some concern about health (everything turned out fine). The staff was very apologetic and took the meal off our bill. The rest of the meals were good, and we were happy to see a vegan burger on the menu. We were surprised when told the pita that came with the hummus and the bun the vegan burger came on were not vegan, (kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it?) but at least the server was aware of this and mentioned it when we ordered. I assume our experience was not the usual for this place. We had breakfast there the day before, and everything was fine.
Loved the food, drinks, view. Would 100% recommend! Absolutely perfect!
Loved the view of the river and had great appetizers (the peanut hummus and fried green tomatoes). Great experience!
Server did not even ask our drink order. She’s crab soup was good; however the main course was awful. Our first server truly needed a shower and the second server that checked on us didn’t come back until we decided to get up and let someone finally know that we wanted to pay. Would not recommend for dinner at all. Menu was very limited.
