We may have come on a busy Tuesday night but the food was pricey ($32 entrees) for fish that taste okay. They did cook the fish perfectly but it needed more/different flavors. The drink was water down from the ice melting. It must have sat at the bar too long. However, the view was wonderful!
All of the staff was gracious and welcoming to me and my father celebrating his 85th birthday with a tour of Philadelphia ships. He was so excited about seeing the largest and oldest sailing vessel in the world still afloat!
The reservation was for a table facing the river...and confirmed verbally. We were seated at a table on the opposite side facing the parking lot. The place was chaotic and was admittedly (the hostess) understaffed. It took a half hour to order our first drinks...order!! These finer details stole from the overall experience. (We were visiting the city from Nashville, TN.)
This place was perfect for our anniversary. Just the right location for the view, coupled with great food.
I was disappointed, mostly because our Server didn't put my order in and after we waiting for 40 minutes they said " I was waiting for your last party never to order and sold out of what I ordered." Then I ordered a few replacement items, and they didn't bring out all of the replacement items. The appetizers were the only saving grace lobster bisque was exceptional, muscles were a bit salty, the oysters were good. The Moshulu seafood roll, was Waaaay too over seasoned.
Our server and cleanup folks were very fast and friendly. More importantly, the food was outstanding !
Food was not hot, it was still tasty at room temperature.
Food and service were excellent. Only complaint would be that I had reservations and wasn't seated until over a half hour later.
It was an amazing time I loved it food was great and view was beautiful
Not what I expected. My guest mostly enjoyed their meals, but the service was lacking (soup was cold, water not replenished, forgot tableware, etc), there was food and dirt on floor under the table, and the costs are not justified. I should mention that we ate inside. Perhaps that, in addition to timing, just delivered a bad experience.
Although we were trying to stay close to South Philly, I feel like we should have just went to one of our staples in KOP or Center City, eg. Morton's, Eddie V's, Chima, etc.
In good faith I cannot recommend. I'll not be returning.
Experience was great food and service was great.
It was a beautiful view and the dinner was amazing and we got free oysters by mistake and they said as soon as it touches the table it's pretty much ours!!!.. Fathers day is a day to remember thank you so much!!!
Took my husband for Father’s Day. It was a first for both of us. My husband don’t eat seafood and there was only ONE entree that was not seafood, so my husband had to settle. Had I known ahead of time, I would have taken him somewhere else where he had more of a choice. At the end of the day, he enjoyed his steak dinner with his beer so it was a nice experience.
The whole entire experience was HORRIBLE customer service EXTREMELY POOR was seated at my table for over an hour before a waiter or anyone asked if we were thirsty for water much less to take our order and then the nerve of the arrogant manager Brett who was very nonchalant when we were expressing our concerns they screwed up the order at least twice needless to say we will not be returning or recommending this moshulu to anyone
The staff was quite polite. Service was very slow- our waiter came to our table to introduce himself, but waited until the next trip to take drink orders. We had to flag him down- after 2 failed attempts to give him the check. Food was ok. Salmon was salty.
We had a great time, we loved the opportunity to eat brunch on a ship. The dining room, and even bathrooms, were beautiful and the view was amazing. The food was well made but could have been a little better. The salmon-hollandaise brunch option was super salty, and the filet mignon was a little over cooked (more medium well than medium). The server was very nice, just a little slow and we were waiting on drink refills for quite sometime. Overall a great experience, but a little pricey for the quality of food.
We love the Moshulu. Food, service and the view - awesome. And the steel drum, island music is fantastic but if the volume could be turned down on the speakers that would be great. It was just too loud and we couldn’t hear each other without yelling. We will definitely go back again for Sunday brunch! Thank you!
I really wanted to like the moshulu. I used to go to the moshulu when I was a kid and it was such a treat. We went for Father’s Day brunch and there were only 4 real”brunch “ items. We had 3 of them and they ranged from ok to inedible. My husband also got a seafood roll & just ate the roll because he didn’t like how the seafood tasted. We got chocolate milk for our kids, my son commented that it wasn’t sweet at all. My husband got a bla Bellini & I had a Bloody Mary that was just vodka with a splash of watered down tomato juice, no horseradish, no hot sauce, no Worcestershire sauce, not even a bit of salt. Of the 4 brunch items, only the waffles were something my kids would eat & were the only ok things we got. I had the biscuits with shrimp gravy, friend egg & sautéed kale, which was terrible. My husband got the cheesesteak omelette, which he didn’t enjoy, the only other brunch item was a eggs Benedict with salmon & spinach. The rest of the menu was lunch/dinner seafood items. If you are going to do brunch, at least have a few non seafood, brunch items, like French toast, pancakes, regular biscuits & gravy, and regular eggs Benedict. Not everyone wants fish for brunch. Besides the food being terrible, brunch for 4 cost $185 with tip. Now I know you are paying for the beautiful ambiance & the boat really is lovely, but at those prices the food should be good as well. Very disappointing.
Awesome as usual!
Staff, Food, and Environment were all tremendous. It was my first time there, a thunderstorm was predicted, and on two phone calls prior to our dinner, we were told that if the weather got bad we would be fine either by tents, a divider that could be postioned, and that if the storm warranted we would quickly be brought insider where there was plenty of room. moshulu hit it out the park. thrilled. happy. content. and telling everyone that i know. moshulu is tremendous, and from the food to the staff and the space, moshulu shines! a most happy patron.
First time I dined there. My crab cake was amazing. We loved the food and dessert was delicious. Our server was very attentive and professional.
The only improvement we could think of, are the chairs. We had outdoor seating, so we sat on the high stools. I know that chairs of regular height would block the view. We are short people and the high stools were almost impossible to climb into. The whole evening, we felt as though we were sliding out of them. They were very uncomfortable.
But we thoroughly enjoyed the food!!
Service was very slow. Took 20 minutes to just have a waiter come to our table for the first time. I am not exaggerating
Service was very slow. It never improved. Might have been the kitchen. Might have been the waiter.
TERRIBLE experience. bad communication between staff. Called the day before to confirm an accommodation. arrived the next day to double confirm the accommodation. they just yes'd me to death. My friends and I traveled to this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. they never followed through with the promised request. additionally on the phone we asked twice if the restaurant still served bottomless brunch. they said "yes we absolutely do" we arrived, no more bottomless. To top it off, servers kept trying to clear off our table when we were clearly not done with our very expensive meals. server even made a comment to mock us. I was so disappointed in this place. I would never recommend to anybody. I wouldn't even say to go for the view because our view was a parking lot. very disappointed in this.
The ambiance was great and servers were very friendly! The food was great and the boat is beautiful. The only qualm was this place isn’t made to accommodate parents with babies. No changing table or large spaces for kids. Other than that the staff did their best to try to accommodate to their best ability.
We were looking forward to this, we had friends visit from out of the country. i booked 3 weeks ahead and requested an outdoor table. Never heard back until the day of, they informed outdoor seating was full
Inside was beautuful, but service was a bit intrusive and quite a few mistakes were made on the orders.
The bathroom waste can was overflowing.
It overall, for the cost, was a disappoinrment. Anyone at the hostess area, etc.. could take 2 minutes to empty the waste cans.
I hope things improve. It is a beautiful restaurant. We would like to go back someday and give it another chance. It is in a beautiful location so that is a huge plus. Very nice to stroll the waterfront after lunch.
Great place for brunch or lunch on a summer day. Try to sit on the outdoor deck to watch the ships on the Delaware River. Service was especially warm and accommodating.
The Swordfish was excellent. The blackened tiger shrimp appetizer was excellent. The dessert would have been better if it had been brought out in a timely manner. Will definitely eat here again.
Absolutely love it great food and customer service.
The wait staff was below average to poor. They were not helpful, when they did respond to questions they couldn't be understood, they were flip and disrespectful. They would bring items we didn't order and not bring what was ordered. Staff other than our waiter would bring things, but couldn't deal with the wrong items so we would have to wait for our waiter to eventually return. The food was good but the menu limited and hard to interpret and our waiter was not helpful with the explanation. He brought items we didn't order and wouldn't correct and still charged us for the item. The ambience and food was great but the rest of the experience poor and not worth the price.
My first time at Moshulu was a great experience. My date and I had a high top table outdoors with a nice view of the water. We shared the oysters, calamari and a table bread for appetisers. All of which were really good. I enjoyed the lobster for my entree with sides of asparagus and Mac and cheese. My date went with the swordfish for her entree and it was very good. Everything looked really good on the menu it was hard to make a decision. Drinks were great as well, thanks for a lovely evening.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Moshulu. It was a unique and special experience. The food was terrific!
I would only recommend for the ambience, that’s all.
I ordered the branzino, and it was served cold, along with cold soggy fries for my daughter.
It was a special night for my daughters 3rd birthday, and the server brought out a complimentary dessert with no candle after I was promised one after speaking to the hostess over the phone.
Overall the ambience was great, but there were no drink recommendations, the food was seasoned very poorly served cold.
And my daughter was disappointed.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful place with amazing food. The staff was great as well
The staff were very nice and unobtrusive, the food was better than expected as we went mainly for the ambiance. The ambiance was exceptional being aboard a vintage ship. We’ve added it to our list of “must dos” whenever we’re in Philly.
Great venue. Menu could be larger but understandable to keep it simple for a very complex venue to serve. Loved it.
“Incredible” does not do my experience justice. Service was top- notch with quick efficient follow through. The food was amazing! The ambiance was fabulous! A dinner I will never forget!
We were so disappointed!!
We have been there previously and could not wait to take our new friends there. 8pm was our reservation
But boy what a disappointment!
The noise ! The band was too loud when they were on break the music was blasting from the speakers. We had to scream to talk at the table.
And the wait!! At least 30 minutes before anyone came to the table and after ordering one hour passed before the appetizer came. And at last dessert and the waitress took our dishes before we were done I guess they needed to close the place
The food is great but I am sure will go back there anytime soon
Its been a while since I've dined at the Moshulu, let me say it was wonderful taking one of my sons and a granddaughter adults of course to dine after this pandemic, getting out was the best feeling, dining on the deck, we loved the food & live entertainment.
We will definitely return.
