We always have a terrific time at Mosaic as a group. We've gone there repeatedly.
The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night, so it was a good thing we had reservations. Our server was excellent - she did not badger me whilst I was waiting for my friend, only once asked if I wanted to start with appetizers maybe. She brought my wine quickly and refilled the water glasses, showing just the right amount of attention without hovering. The menu offered enough gf choices for my friend. We had the Mongolian stir-fry with beef and the rack of lamb. Both were cooked very well; a typical Mongolian beef with the right dose of spiciness and a rich sauce. Both portions were quite satisfying, and the only reason we didn't take our leftovers was the fact we were attending a performance, otherwise we would not have left that delicious food behind.
The food was excellent and the service even better! Tim is a fantastic waiter!
The Hostess and the waiters were very nice. Our water glass was filled frequently. 5 dishes ordered and like Ginger Smoked Chilean Seabass the best. Garlic Noodle, Mongolian Chicken were just ok. Tiramisu and Lava Cake are to die for. Bit pricey but used a Living Social certificate.
I was skeptical when I heard this restaurant is inside of a Four Points Sheraton. :-) Happily, all turned out beyond my expectations. Great for Happy Hour -- which we took advantage of. Lots of variety in the menu and many bar bite choices. We sat outside which was relaxing. I'd definitely go back.
I think the menu has changed recently but the food and service are still great!
The bass and the bulgogi were pretty good. The tomato bisque was not.
Beware that this is a hotel restaurant, but the restaurant does not validate parking, so there is a hidden tax on this experience.
Service was great and nice quiet place to talk. Seabass melts in my mouth and was very delicious.
I hadn't been here in over a year and don't know why. It was great! The Mongolian stirfry was excellent and the walnut prawns we very good. The only problem I have here is deciding what to get. There are so many good items on the menu.
The staff are friendly and fast. Very helpful. I won't forget to come here next time we have one of those "I don't know, where do you want to go?" moments.
Great food! Fast service, Tim our server rocked!!
Mosaic is a not-so-hidden gem in the neighbourhood. Located 'around the block' from downtown, it takes the bottom half of a hotel, which, usually, doesn't give it much of a recommendation. Take note: park anywhere downtown and hike it to Mosaic.
We usually use deep fried calamari as an indicator of the cooking skills of a restaurant - this plate had large, thumb size chunks of calamari that was crispy on the outside and tender, tender protein inside. Sweet onion and jalepeno was use as filler, but good themselves. Ahi salad (poke) was well done (!) and the potstickers flavourful with just enough bite in the wrapping. The only entrée we tried, the (something or other) beef was melt in your mouth tender and delitefully rare. We definitely intend to hike it (oh, so far) over to Mosaic again, and again, and again. And, oh, yeah. Tim is awesome.
We've been to Mosaic many times because it is close to the California Theatre where we attend Symphony Silicon Valley and other arts performances. This time I guess I ordered wrong. I had the soft-shelled crab, thinking it would be less salty than the lamb chops (my usual choice), and the tempura fried vegetables. The batter on both dishes was crispy but very thick, especially on the vegetables. It was not like the light batter of tempura one finds in Japanese restaurants. Also with the exception of two small pieces of broccoli, all of my vegetables were zucchini. I was expecting carrots, squash, green beans, or some other mixture (I had requested no onions). And everything was excessively salty. On the plus side, we got our usual friendly excellent service.
Excellent service and food. Tim was our waiter and he was fun.
tim was the best waiter i have had in awhile. pork belley tremendous
Terrific ambiance and live jazz music. Service was highly professional, particularly for our large group of 10. Food overall was quite good; however, one guest's steak was very undercooked and could not be eaten. Our server graciously brought a replacement steak dish 15 minutes later.
The food was very good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was pleasant, busy but not too loud. Our waiter, Tim, was a delight.
Food was excellent, and our server, Timothy Solomon was exceptional.
Delicious food. Great happy hour. Must pay for outside parking
Have eaten at Mosaic several times. The drinks and food are tasty with lots of great flavors, good vegetarian options too. The ambiance is nice and you can hear conversations at your table without having to raise your voice. Excellent service!
Happy Hour looks like the way to go here.
We have been here several times. The food is consistent and the service is very good. Great Asian Flair.
Our experience at Mosaic on Friday evening was wonderful as always. It's a treat every time
and our waiter Tim was every bit as good as the food.
4 thumbs up, way up
Getting there early before dinner rush was a good idea. Food came out quickly and was hot. Our server, Matthew, was very helpful and graciously accepted feedback for improved service and food preparation.
12 people, 3 from other countries. Everyone enjoyed their meals and our server was outstanding
Excellent food and service.
The waiter was awesome. Otherwise the food and ambiance are unremarkable
What a find in downtown San Jose. Located in the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. Great dinner, great service and great beer selection for you craft beer fans.
Service was great in the beginning but it diminished towards the end. Stir fry mongolian and honey prawns were goog by the Salmon with crab was not fresh.
Had fantastic service - they asked when we arrived if we had theater tickets (we did) and even though we only had about an out they did managed to get us out in time for our show. Our server and the bus staff were all extremely helpful and efficient.
The food was great, as were the cocktails.
On the downside, the parking lot was $8 for the first hour, and they don't validate parking.
The location is great for people watching in downtown San Jose. The service is outstanding, but I found the sea bass I ordered to be a bit overcooked. The lamb dish was excellent though, perfectly cooked. The live music was a really nice touch, noticeable but not overwhelming to the point that my date and I couldn't hold a conversation.
If you like Roy's, but don't want to go up to San Francisco or down to Pebble Beach, then this is your restaurant!
Mosaic was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was quietly elegant. The menu was interesting and the food was good (albeit over-cooked). It is a nice change of pace for San Jose, and a good place for a pre-theater dinner.
Had a very tasty dinner on Christmas 2017. Our servers, Richard and Kristina were super nice and helpful, and our food arrived quickly. We started with the Crispy Calamari which combined with the Chipotle sauce was extremely good. For our main course, we had Egg Flower soup, the Seared Sea Scallops, Steamed Buns, and String Beans - The presentation was nice and combined with a glass of Mosaic White Wine and a Cold Brew IPA were all very tasty and sumptuous! We completed our dinner by diving into the fantastic Matcha Creme Brulee.
I highly recommend Mosaic for your next food outing!
Great ambience, fantastic service and very tasty food.
We had the calamari to start and it was possibly the best calamari we have ever had.
It was a large portion and perfectly cooked and seasoned.
The crab cakes and the scallops were also delicious and cooked to perfection.
The matcha creme brulee was very good but a little disappointed that it was quite small (much too small for sharing).
The service was really top notch, even on Christmas day with the chaos of a full restaurant.
Our server was attentive and helpful and the atmosphere was very casual and friendly.
Thank you for a great dining experience!, Mosaic!
There was a strong odor coming from the bathrooms of the hotel that the restaurant is in....Like a sewer smell. The restaurant said it is out of their control which I understand but it made for an unpleasant dining experience, everything else was fine. This needs to be fixed by the hotel.
Lovely meal, awesome service, and great ambience. Highly recommend!
We ate in the bar so we could take advantage of their happy hour but were able to order from their dinner menu. Very good sesame seed tuna! Their cocktails are always yummy too! The service is professional, friendly and attentive!
I'd recommend eating at this place, especially before a show or performance!
Outstanding service, and the seafood and lamb chops and soups, both wonton and sweet and sour were excellent.
Loved everything about our experience at Mosaic - enjoyed happy hour bites and beer/wine before our dinner - all were delicious! Great service and location.
Mosaic was always good; but I feel it is actually getting even better. I really appreciate having a well thought-out, full Asian-fusion menu. The dishes are actually creative and use authentic Asian flavours. I really like that. The service is also always very polite and attentive.
