Morton's The Steakhouse - World Trade Center Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation in an expensive restaurant four weeks in advance only to be seated in the bar dining area. The main restaurant was allegedly closed for a function, however a visit to that area found separate groups and several empty tables.
I would have walked out, except it was a cold winter night and I didn’t know if other Restaurants had room. Not that money was an issue, but the restaurant manager did not even say he was sorry or offered to buy a drink. They could have called my cell in advance. For me, next time it is The Palm.
The steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. Get the NY Strip! They needed some salt, but that's easy enough to fix on your own. The sides were great (creamed spinach, brussel sprouts and horseradish mashed potatoes), although the bacon a little too sweet for my taste. The service was very polite albeit quite slow after our food arrived. And it didn't seem busy enough to really warrant that kind of delay. You expect a certain speedy rhythm for a New York lunch, as well as a certain amount of attentiveness with these prices. We'll try it again, but maybe give them a heads up to try and not leave us lingering.
When you think of great steakhouses, Morton's is usually somewhere near the top of the list, especially when in NYC. Almost as famous for the many superstar athletes and celebrities who stop by, Morton's has earned a place in history by serving some of the best food the city has to offer for decades.
We stopped by for lunch while in town celebrating our 10 year anniversary, which we mentioned in our OpenTable booking because we'd heard that they might print special menus with your names/celebration along the top and one of us is a sucker for souvenirs.
I'm not sure how to explain it, but the entire experience so exceeded our expectations that we were practically dumbstruck even after we left. The ambiance was warm and friendly and we loved the tasteful photos on the wall offering a who's who of the greats who had dined before us.
The general manager, Frank Gojcaj, came to personally greet us and congratulate us on our anniversary, and the attentive and charming service offered by Katie made for an absolutely memorable afternoon that was truly exceptional for our special day. The steak was perfect and rated in the top 5 I've had in a long time and the crispy chicken BLT looked delicious as well.
I would highly recommend Morton's to anyone looking for an expertly prepared meal and served with flair. Thank you for a fantastic time!
Our 40th anniversary we went to enjoy a gourd meal. I️ frequent the mid town location but want something a little more special so we went to see the freedom tower. Meal was great as always . But a bit of a let down . It seems the mid town location puts more accent on your celebrations like birthdays and special occasions . The waitress was nice but service was drawn out. Over all a nice place but I️ am headed back up town next time
Best of the Morton's chain. We are routine diners at Morton's in various locations. The food at Morton's World Trade Center is the best we have had. Everything we ordered was outstanding. Garrett, our waiter, was wonderful and very attentive. We will be back!!
We had an overall wonderful experience when we visited for dinner. The service was impeccable and their meals were delicious. Our server was attentive and included some special touches as we were celebrating our anniversary . Thank you for an awesome visit!
The prix fixe menu ($35, three courses) was a good value for a business lunch in the area. First course was a throwaway - one had caesar salad which consisted of a few leaves and a single crouton; the other had french onion soup, which was forgettable and lacking the distinctive cheese rim. Second course, both ribeye steak, was good: The cut of steak was a little thin and flabby, but well cooked and not gristly. The garlic sauce on top was superb, as were the accompanying potatoes. Desert course: cheesecake was dense and forgettable, but the chocolate mousse was an A+. Overall the experience felt like a glorified TGI Friday's prettied up with cloth napkins and crumb scrapers.
Food and service were excellent. Nice location close to World Trade Center and convenient to the W and Marriott hotels. We didn't sit at the bar but there were quite a few people enjoying dinner at the bar. We were there on a pretty quiet night but I would imagine the noise level to be on the lower side even on a busier night. Overall a nice dinner.
Morton's has been a favorite restaurant for me, and tonight I brought my parents and my daughter and her boyfriend for a birthday celebration. The food was good, as usual. Unfortunately when we got our check, there was a $10 surcharge, with a note below saying that it was for increasing expenses. When I spoke to the manager about it, his response was, "Sorry, there's a sign at the host desk". When we walked to the host desk there was a small sign on the wall behind the desk next to the coat room. It was easily missed. The whole experience ruined an otherwise fun evening. Very tacky--I expect more from Morton's.
I went Morton's during Restaurant week. Menu for restaurant week was pretty good. 3 course foods are great (ordered filet mignon it was one of the best I had , we were full at the end) and have variety wine selections. Our waitress are really nice. I will definitely visit again soon
