Morton's The Steakhouse - White Plains Ratings and Reviews
Sean, Tony and the team are always great. We were there to celebrate a colleague’s MBA. Tony had called in the afternoon, checked on the occasion and printed personal menu’s recognizing her achievement (keep in mind this was a table of 3 not a large group). These little things make Morton’s a go to for special occasions.
You receive a warm welcome at the door. We usually get there early to have drinks at the bar. I will say that the bar service was not up to their usual standard. We were never asked if we wanted another drink (which we did)
The service at the table was excellent and very attentive. The server did apologize several times for the delay in getting drinks from the bar. This is not the norm by any means so probably an off night.
We will definitely go again.
We both had their 40th Anniversary Special, which included soup or salad, main course with side and dessert for $40. 6oz. Filet mignon was excellent and sides of mashed potatoes and creamed corn. Topped off with a slice of key lime pie. Very leisurely meal and very good service.
Food and service was good. Disappointed that Morton's didn't have the 40 Menu out and when asked.....the server said "that's the secret menu".
There regular and a $63.00 menu where on the table. I ordered from the regular menu, I just felt like Morton's was hiding the $40 menue.
Excellent! Love the new location. The food and service on point. Mortons doesn’t disappoint. Best Crab Cakes anywhere, the Cajun Ribeye is a must and so are some of their new dishes - Bacon Steak and Truffle Cauliflower. Our Server Robert was terrific and so were the managers Sean & Tony. Thank you.
Do yourself a favor and go to BLT instead which is right across the street you will get outstanding service and will feel like your money bought you a great meal! Service at Morton’s was slow and sub par; wine took 30 minutes to arrive that is 15 minutes after they discovered that they ran out of my 1st choice of red wine. I had to ask for water glass to be refilled. At their price point I expect to not have to ask for water to be refilled. By far the most disappointing value for a chilled seafood tower for 2 anywhere in the area. Presentation was sad with 2 wilted pieces of lettuce holding minuscule amounts of lobster and crab; 2 oysters and 2 shrimp = $60. I gladly pay $100 at BLT but the value is there. $75 tower at Smith Nomad will feed 4 people and that’s in the city. Steak was ok; absolutely nothing to write home about. The only great thing about this dinner was the carrot cake. Again - I have no issue with above $50 anything price point but this restaurant absolutely can not support their price point - service is not there and quality is mediocre at best. BLT all the way.
Excellent steaks and sides. We were seated near the open kitchen at the new White Plains location which was not optimal. I should have asked for a table more in the center of the restaurant. I suggest diners ask to be seated more centrally not in the back near the open kitchen.
We had a very pleasant dining experience on New Year’s Eve. However, the one thing that put a slight damper on our evening was the street being closed off and having to walk further than expected in the freezing cold - so I wish the restaurant would have given us a heads up.
My review is not the best because the food and drink were only average. The service and atmosphere were excellent however.
I regularly go to steakhouses that offer a similar selection of steaks at similar prices to Mortons including Peter Lugers Brooklyn, Gallaghers NYC, and Capital Grille NYC -- all of which I have been to in the past six weeks. At Morton's, we ordered the Wagyu beef and the bone-in Filet Mignon. Neither of these was as good as the comparable steaks at the restaurants that I have been to recently. They were cooked properly (medium rare as ordered) but the flavor and texture was lacking. Also, the Cosmopolitan drink we ordered was sub-par -- tasted harsh and when we asked for it to be corrected, the bartender added cranberry juice only and it was even worse! Finally, one of us ordered the Chilean Sea Bass which came perfectly prepared and it was delicious, but at $49, we felt it was seriously overpriced.
I will say that, besides the issues we had with the food, the service was very professional and the restaurant was beautiful to be in. These things are important to me, but at $320 for three people (including the aforementioned Cosmo and tip), I don't think I will be returning there any time soon.
p.s. I want to add that Mortons has been located in White Plains for probably ten years and less than one year ago, they switched locations about five minutes drive from their original location. When they called me to confirm the reservation, no effort was made to let me know about this and I took my party to the old location and parked in the indoor lot there before I realized that something was up. As a result, we were fifteen minutes late for our reservation which could have been easily avoided if the hostess had mentioned it when she called me.
We celebrated our Christmas Eve dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse and it was lovely! Everyone enjoyed their meals. I loved the Caesar salad and Chicken Christopher with grilled asparagus. The service is excellent. The manager Sean is always friendly and makes sure all the guests are happy & satisfied with their service.
Disappointing! I was so looking forward to dining at Morton’s in its new space. They did a very nice job of decorating. Our waiter was really sweet but not that attentive. We waited a really long time to get our food. When the food finally came the matchstick fries were cold and he forgot to put in the order for our other side. By the time both sides came out we were pretty much done eating. The manager brought them over and told us he was “taking care of it.” He was not very apologetic or sincere. I would’ve rather paid and had things done correctly. For a place that’s supposed to be an upscale chain steakhouse, it falls short. There are too many other places in the area that are far superior. I wouldn’t waste my money to go back there.
Steaks ( ordered medium rare) and salmon all overdone, salmon dried out, wait staff very attentive but dinner took way to long to be served...manager apologized for wait . Best part was dessert cheesecake and key lime pie delicious. Overall way too expensive.
