This visit was on Christmas, but if you are an expensive restaurant open on Christmas, you should still offer great food and service. Both were lacking - filets were the most tasteless steaks I’ve ever had, salad was like someone ripped a semi wilting head of lettuce in half and threw it on a plate. We couldn’t get glasses refilled or our server’s attention and the restaurant’s ambiance was like that of an overcrowded Friday’s. Will not return here.
Usually have a good experience at Morton's. We went for dinner on Christmas Eve. Food was good, but service was off for us this time. Our waiter failed to let us know about the desserts that require 45 minutes to make. So when we were given the dessert menu, it wasn't an option for us.

What we got were mediocre stakes and cold food
Outback Steak House offers better stakes than this place.
I guess they are moving from Clayton to downtown St. Louis
(a totally stupid thing to do)
so the help is new
the cooks don't know how to cook a steak
our Medium stakes were all rare
and mine was ice cold
I ordered their most expensive stake
and it was full of gristle
The mixed drinks were weak and a pre-mix at CostCo is better
so I sure can't recommend Mortons
overpriced and underwhelming
As always, the staff did an excellent job anticipating our needs. The food was absolutely delicious and every person at the table truly enjoyed their meal immensely. Kudos to the cooks in the back. The ambiance was conducive for the business meal that we were having and we felt very comfortable in the environment. Great time and would certainly recommend to others.
Friday night dinner club with friends. Service was excellent. Just the right amount of attention and provided great advice regarding menu items. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Steaks were perfectly done (even for the well done request). Look forward to eating there again.
My family loves Morton’s - the amazing food, great staff (and always friendly) and elegant ambiance. We go there for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. The bread is something not to be missed. The staff is so nice that someone always takes a picture for us to mark the occasion. We will miss this location very much.
We come once or twice a year. I expect attentive service when I am paying a la crate at a nice steak restaurant. It was almost as if they were without any bus help. Dishes sat well past we were finished, our water glasses were not refilled & sat empty as did our cocktails. It just was subpar to my expectations. There are too many other options. We likely won't be back.
It was beautiful! My fiancé and I were celebrating our anniversary and engagement. Everyone there was nice and just overall amazing! We plan on going back. Christa was such a great server. She was able to tell us about everything on the menu and even give us recommendations. The bread is amazing! The food in general was good and totally worth the money.
It was extremely hot inside. I saw the wait staff carrying around fans so I assume the AC was having issues but it was almost unbearable. We did order dessert but weren't told prior that certain items take 30 minutes to prepare. I know this is common practice in most restaurants. The food was amazing as it always is. The host had happy birthday with my wife's name printed on it for her birthday.
The service was incredibly slow and our server acted like our table of eight people was an inconvenience.
Extremely disappointing as we had looked forward to this Family reunion for over a month.
The restaurant was not even close full @ 6:30pm mid week.
The next time we spend $700 on a special occasion dinner it will never be at Morton's St. Louis again, ever.
My husband loved his steak, as always. I don't eat beef and ordered a chicken dish. I ate less than half of it and wish I had just gotten a plain sauteed chicken breast. I know chicken is not their specialty, but I wish they at least did it decently.
Ambiance was fine, though lights were a bit brighter than the classic steakhouse. It seemed like we had to flag our waitress down a lot, as she did not stop by the table often on her own.
My friends and I went for this summer's Clayton Restaurant Week. This is one of the restaurants I will be returning to even without the special priced restaurant week menu. From entrance to exit, all staff encountered was welcoming, friendly, professional, and ready to give their opinion when asked about food choices. The food itself was amazing. The steak was the best I have had in St. Louis (moved here 7 years ago), and I have been to some of the other top-rated steak restaurants in the area.
My course selections:
1st course: Morton's Salad - great taste and good dressing to salad ratio (also able to get it without anchovies :) )
2nd course: 6 oz. filet, medium rare - cooked to perfection
3rd course: Chocolate mousse - light on the tongue but heavy on the flavor. Shared with one of my friends who ordered the Key Lime Pie. You can't go wrong ordering either dessert, just depends on the mood you are in.
Service was outstanding but the food was overpriced for the quality. We are frequent diners at Ruth's Chris and Flemings and feel like we get just as good, if not better food there for cheaper. No major complaints with our meal but we will continue to dine at other steakhouses that are a little better priced.
