We went to Morton's for belated Valentine's Day date. We went a little early to sit at the bar and have a couple of cocktails. They came to get us when the table was ready. We had bacon wrapped scallops to start and then we each ordered steak...of course as it is a steak house. The food and service was excellent. We do not usually go out so high end but it was a really nice treat. Definitely recommend to anyone.
I love Mortons, always have. My boyfriend & I went here for this past Valentines Day & like always, the food was AMAZING! HOWEVER, I asked our waitress if they still did the special occasion cards (basically, they take your photo, print it out right away and stick in a cute little black card with a bunch of "staff members" signatures on it really the hostess just gets creative and signs everyones name with a different font but the concept is still cute & unique) & I was she said yes they do. So naturally, I was really looking forward to getting one of those cheesy photos & we didn't! Even AFTER I mentioned it!!! Also, I'm not sure if its just me having not been there in a while, or maybe it just happened to be 'off' that night, but I swear they changed their creamed corn which was one of my favorite items on their menu :(. Other than that, the waitress was very attentive and friendly and the food was phenomenal (as I mentioned before). I will always go back to Morton's time and time again. The timeless style and reputation of Morton's outplays the newer competition (like Dominick's, yuck!) every time in my opinion.
The food was excellent. But everything on the menu is overpriced compared to nearby restaurants of equal quality. For example, the same center cut filet mignon is $10 more at Mortion's than at Eddie V's. A glass of wine for $15 is excessive, I can buy a bottle of good German Riesling for $15. I enjoyed my food but the pricing makes the whole meal feel like a ripoff. I will not be back anytime soon.
All around excellent experience. Pricey, but that is to be expected, and worth it. Moderate noise level makes it possible to carry on a conversation. Nothing cute or trendy about this classic steakhouse, which was fine because we were not looking for cute and trendy. Great place for two adults to have dinner. Also, it was Valentines Day, and we never felt rushed.
Decided to try Morton's for the 1st time with their V-day filet and lobster tail special for $59. For the $300 bill including tip and bottle of wine, I expected WAAAY better value. Food was average but not worth $300, service was slow. Waitress was nonexistent for 20 mins while waiting to pay tab, restaurant was half empty so she wasn't busy with too many tables. As stated, 1st time here, and did value was not worth the tab.
My husband and I were looking forward to a nice dinner and evening at Morton's in scottsdale. Didn't happen. Our server (forgot her name) was terrible. it was clear she didn't listen. we asked for our cocktails in tall glasses, they came in short glasses. however we didn't say anything at that point. she spoke way too fast with the specials etc even after we asked her to slow down. she asked us if we wanted bread. umm usually nice restaurants just bring the bread out without asking if you want it. very weird. my husband's plate was put down in front of him and was 'scalding hot', like it had actually been in the oven, and he burned his finger. he wasn't warned that the plate was hot (which is normally what a good server will do). we ordered a medium steak and it came well over done. they offered to make us another one, but at that point we were so done, we just wanted to get out of there. the crab cakes were not good either. no flavour at all. it was a terrible dinner and terrible experience. now I know why there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. the manager did come over and said they would take the steak off our bill, but overall, we were so disappointed with the service, food and overall experience. we will not go back there or recommend to anyone.
I clicked on Make a Reservation from the Restaurant Week menu and was taken to Open Table. When we arrived at the restaurant I was told that Restaurant Week was over. The click from the Restaurant Week menu should have said something so we had to pay Morton's regular prices. The dishes are so large it was easy to share so that was fine bit the steak was not worth the price paid.
This visit to Morton's was very disappointing. I ordered the 6 oz filet Dianne and I ordered it medium rare. It came rare. It was tender and very tasty, but rare, and the mushrooms were tough as cardboard. First time ever that I've seen served mushrooms that were hard to chew. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, which was superb. But at $25, it had better be superb. I also ordered a Caesar salad with tomatoes and a glass of house Merlot. The house Merlot was $17. The tomatoes never came. In fact, the Caesar salad never came. My bill, witha 20% tip, came to $112. For a shrimp cocktail, 6-oz filet and a glass of house wine (with NO sides) that was, in my humble opinion, an outrageous price. Service, obviously, was nothing special. For $112, everything should be special. I will not be returning. There was no value here.
My wife and I made reservations here to celebrate 10 years dating on New Years day. Our experience was quite disappointing for what we paid and will certainly not go back. Our server (Cassidy) took very long just to come by initially and we waited 30 mins just to get drinks when it really wasn't even busy. He also seemed irritated when asking him questions and moreso over us wanting to split the 24oz porterhouse. I don't know about most, but a 48oz porterhouse for 2 seems way too much especially when a 24oz is around 1900 calories. He was really trying to sell us on getting the bigger cut and decided not to which may have ticked him off somemore. We still spent the same if not more with the extra salad and seafood platter on top of the 2 sides so don't see why it should of. Once we got the smaller porterhouse we were quite relieved we didn't order the bigger one as we'd have taken most of it home. He took very long to come back and check on us in the beginning, though he did do good pours of wine for the wife. We also didn't get any bread nor were offered any. He even asked us if it was our first time dining there which we told him it had been. I had to mention this to the people at the front on my way out as I was leaving quite displeased. I really only asked them about the bread and mentioned the length of time it took to get the first drinks. I just feel that coming to a place like this one should expect and get reasonable service. He tried to chat us up a bit towards the end as he probably noticed we were peed off but by then it was too late. He mentioned how busy it was the night before for New Years Eve and why a little burnt out but don't take it out on your customers. I would have loved to save myself a lot of money and had a much better experience elsewhere. I still tipped him around 15% as I got friends in the service industry and don't really prefer to stiff anyone in the business.
I was disappointed in the atmosphere. My wife and I had are 19th wedding anniversary dinner at Morton's in Scottsdale. We were seated at the back of the restaurant near a corporate dinner where the doors were almost always open and then a table of four women celebrating a birthday that were almost as loud as the whole backroom. They burned the top of the steak making it inedible with out cutting off the chared top. They did not cook it to the correct temperature, it was medium next to the bone and well done everywhere else. The staff was so concerned with the back room that the rest of the restaurant lacked the same kind of attenrion to detail that we become used to having at Morton's. This is our first time at this location having moved to Phoenix recently, sadly it was a disappointment.
The food tastes ok but it wasn't great. For the prices, they should get the steak right. Both steak orders were wrong. And the server was not good. We were never offered bread though everyone around us was. And she did not offer any recommendations about food even though we told her it was our first time there. If we asked a question she seemed annoyed. She seemed eager to get rid of us. For $100/plate, the food and service should be better.
This is the 4th visit to Mortons. Every time the food was delicious and the service was exceptional. My only complaint on this visit was the prices. It appears as though Mortons has raised their prices on everything. We usually eat there during the summer months. This time it was mid November. Maybe this had something to do with the prices?? Next time we will try another prime steakhouse such as Donovans or Eddie V's.
I have been going to Morton's for my Birthday for many years now. We have our favorite servers, Jane and Eric!, but all the staff is friendly and helpful. This is a great place for a Steak, but also love the crab crabs and the Lobster Mac & Cheese. You can never go wrong with anyone of their soufflés to order. Also fun to just sit in the bar area and have an amazing cheeseburger and fries with a Martini
