Morton's The Steakhouse - Schaumburg Ratings and Reviews
We were so looking forward to a wonderful dinner at Morton’s in Schaumburg. It had been quite a long time since our last meal there. Our experience this time was EXTREMELY disappointing. We arrived on time for our 6:15 p.m. reservation and were asked to wait at the bar. 20 minutes later we saw a couple arrive and were greeted by the manager and seated immediately. I approached the hostess and asked how much longer we would have to wait. She said she would ask the manager. She told us MAYBE 10 more minutes. We asked why the other couple was seated before us and she said they had 6 p.m. reservations. They were 30 minutes late and got seated immediately! Excuse me, but we were on time and we were still waiting. No apologies what so ever. We left without dining and will not be going back. Poor management skills are UNACCEPTABLE in a service oriented business.
Saturday night, 5:30 pm and we we are seated by a large party. Ok... First, we order drinks and Pellegrino and server says they are out of the large bottles, so we will take two small ones. Order dinner and they are out of 2 and 2.5 lbs lobster. Ok, we will change our order.... Want more Pellegrino and they are now out of the small bottles - ok, we will take soda water instead. We elect to skip coffee and dessert...
Not the Morton’s I recall - decibel level high, server quite slow (he had many tables), yet quite polite and nice. The food was “ok”, but not great as one would expect based upon the prices - simply, just average. Not the experience we were going out for or paying for... needless to say, very disappointing!
One of our guests had a whole lot of gristle in their porterhouse, and 2 of us has steaks that were cooked a bit over. For a $60 steak, I would expect better meat selection by the chef.
Never had an issue at the Rosemont location. Maybe it’ll be better next time.
The service was good. The lobster Mac was great.
Our server, Brian, was awesome - we were in a time pinch and the kitchen was backed up but he got us out in time.
Only down side was we had reservations but were seated almost 30 minutes later.
Everything else was wonderful for our birthday night out! Food was fabulous!
We visited for my husband's birthday. They made us a special personalized birthday menu to keep and took a picture as a memento. The birthday dessert came without embarrassing fanfare. It was a very elegant delicious dinner. Top notch food and service. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion and would definitely mention it. Don't worry, they will make it special without embarrassing you!
This is very much a fancy restaurant. Dress up a little or you're going to feel a bit awkward.
The food is quite expensive, but it is also some of the most delicious I've ever encountered.
The staff was quite accommodating, our server was excellent (it's regrettable that I've forgotten her name).
Expect to spend $100, if you want to go but spend a little less, the Chicken Christopher is an excellent option, though the steak is quite something to behold. I'm quite certain that their entire menu is delicious.
Would I recommend it? Definitely. If you can afford ~$100 a head.
P.s. Attached you will find a picture of the Chicken Christopher. It's akin to chicken fried steak, but much better and without the "biscuits and gravy" approach. $30, but quite delicious.
As always, Morton's delivers a consistent and top quality meal and atmosphere. Morton's Schaumburg delivered excellence - a fantastic dinner, attentive and respectful service, and lived up to every expectation of a special and memorable dinner with business colleagues and friends. I'm always a fan of the Morton's ribeye. Perfectly cooked and incredible flavor. If you're reading reviews to determine whether to dine at Morton's then you likely haven't eaten at a Morton's, as if you have - you'd know what to expect and that it would be a delightful meal and luxurious dining experience. My recommendation - start with a perfect martini when you sit down and are reviewing the menu. Then order the ribeye, with spinach and truffle fries on the side, and pick a great Cabernet to accompany the steak. During your meal, preorder the chocolate soufflé to cap the dinner. Enjoy.
This restaurant lives up to my opinion every time I go. The food was outstanding. The steak done in a black/blue was great. The lobster tail was fresh, firm and great tasting. Add the asparagus and mushrooms to complement everything. The food was Great!
Then move on to the hospitality of the place- It is always welcoming, friendly and full of service. I love having my water glass full.
Why go anywhere else!
We were there with family to celebrate good news regarding our son! Everything is excellent from appetizers, shrimp and crab, to our steaks. This is our favorite place to relax, have a great meal and enjoy the ambiance. Jonathan is our waiter and does a great job. The bar area is great to watch a little football before dinner. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Nice people!
My husband and I chose Morton’s for our 35th wedding anniversary dinner. It’s not that we go there frequently, but we knew it would have the kind of ambience we were looking for. The dark lighting, candles, white tablecloth service was perfect! Our server adjusted his tempo to ours, realizing we were in no hurry. One thing I’ve always loved about Morton’s is they know how to recommend a great wine and then serve it in the correct glass and at the right temperature. We shared an appetizer, I believe called a tuna tower. We each drank a glass of perfectly balanced Chardonnay with it, a wine with just a touch of acidity to counter the richness of the tuna. The tuna tower is a medley of raw chopped tuna(poké style) with tiny cubes of avocado and mango. It had been molded in a cylinder and carefully turned out onto a plate with a bit of salsa. It’s meant to be eaten atop tortilla chips, which were also delicious. Now on to the steaks! My husband loves the peppercorn ribeye which is served sliced and napped with a very peppery, slightly creamy sauce. And yes, at Morton’s, when you ask for medium rare you get perfectly medium rare. I was excited to learn that one of the specials of the night was a premium dry-aged strip steak. Whenever I have a chance to order a dry-aged steak I do so. Often, I do not get a dry-aged steak, perhaps a dark one that sat a bit too long in the cooler, but not dry-aged. At Morton’s, I got a real dry-aged strip steak. The difference really is that while a dry-aged steak is still very tender, the texture of it is leaner. And the flavor is very interesting, more like game than a usual cut of beef. Think prosciutto instead of deli ham. And it was not dry; juice oozed slowly from this steak onto the plate and I was able to dunk each bite of steak into a little au jus of its own making. My husband enjoyed a deep Cabernet with his meal while I totally loved the Pinot noir our server recommended. Final thought: We need to go to Morton’s more often!!
Morton never fails to deliver high quality products and excellent service, and our most recent visit was no exception. Sign up for the Landry's Club -- you receive points for dining and receive rewards pretty quickly. The staff always checks and just deducts points from the bill without being asked -- that's good service. Also, Club members receive emails with special menu offerings, all at a very good value. Yes, the steaks are prime and expensive, but always perfectly prepared to the temperature you ordered.
My husband and I went here for a date night. I requested a private booth. To our surprise, we were seated in the same booth that he proposed to me in a couple years ago! The waiter that waited on us was very nice. The food was delicious, however there was an issue. Later that night I ended up getting really sick from something I ate, so much so that I had to stay home the next day from work. This was unfortunate, as now I will think twice before going back to Morton's (we have been there many times). I feel like if I am spending $240+ for dinner, I should not end up getting sick from it. My husband also felt a little ill, but not as bad as me. He did taste a few of the items I ordered.
From a group who constantly dine at major steakhouses, we're all in full agreement that Morton's sits by itself on TOP.
Not only were our drinks and dinner prepared to perfection, but our service was EXCEPTIONAL! Mia took care of us as if we were her one and only table.
Mia was extremely attentive to our needs. This quality in a server is rare these days.
Our thanks to Armando for providing us with such great managerial skills and thus inspiring such a fine staff.
