Morton's The Steakhouse - Santa Ana Ratings and Reviews
After many years of going to the Capital Grille and Mastro’s, we decided to give Morton’s another try because we had a very old gift card that was gathering dust. Although we were initially hesitant about the change, we were very pleased with our dinner and service. Oscar was a fantastic waiter, wished us happy anniversary, asked about our family and made some really good recommendations. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. We could not have had a better experience. We will definitely be returning.
Steak was obviously great quality, but overcooked. They did offer to replace it and even removed it from our bill when I declined, but I expect this level of restaurant to be able to serve a rare steak. If there weren't so many other options Morton's would do, but there are plenty of options in this area. The service was exceptional though.
Once upon a time Morton's was considered "the" chain for high end steaks in a traditional setting. Now that they have revamped the room to a more "hip" vibe, it loses some of the steakhouse feel. The food is still excellent, but the ambiance is just a bit off. The night we were there there were a number of families there with young children (much like ours) and all were sat nest to the bar. This may not have been the best choice, but at least the cigar smoke from the patio lent an old leather scent to that part of the room, bringing back steakhouse memories.
Upscale steak houses are well know for overpriced food and Morton's is no exception. My wife and I both had filets, me the recommended one with bone in, but in the future I'll go with the
traditional boneless filet -- it's cheaper too. The service was outstanding and we were warmly greeted upon arrival with "Happy Anniversary" which was nice, and they took a complimentary
photo and gave us a print, and provided a delicious complimentary dessert. Those gestures
balanced things out a bit and took the sting out of the high prices.
Seated promptly. Waiter was very cordial and attentive. Overseas guests who enjoy steak when visiting the U.S.
Unfortunately, one of my guest’s steak - who ordered rare - was brought a well-done steak. When the waiter was apprised of the problem, he immediately took the well-done steak away and initiated a new one to be cooked as ordered. That “saved the day” and avoided the dinner turning into a disaster. It all ended well. The waiter made all the difference in the world.
One of our party of four was given the wrong order which was quickly corrected. Brought a bottle of wine & was told corkage fee was $35. Ordered three soufflés for dessert. When our bill arrived there was no corkage fee & desserts were on the house! Happy Anniversary to us!
I have been to many Morton's across the country over the years for business meals. I took my wife here before a movie we were seeing that was nearby so the location was ideal. I love a good steak, who doesn't, but I have to say that this meal was not what I was expecting.
My 8oz filet was not as flavorful as I remember Morton's being in the past, it was just OK.
My wife's was dry, and her shrimp and scallops were overcooked and rubbery. It was her first time to a Morton's and I don't see her wanting to go back, especially for the price we paid.
I know what the costs are but for the meal we were served, it wasn't worth it.
On the other hand the waiter was attentive and polite. Atmosphere was pleasant and not stuffy.
This Morton's is managed so well with the best possible service that I had to write feedback to Landry's Corporate office, and frankly feel it should be the example for all restaurants.. On this occasion I had taken my husband here as a redo birthday dinner, which they ensured was perfect. Upon taking my husband to what I thought was a seafood restaurant for crab legs for his birthday we found that the food was lacking (more like not edible), wine list was abysmal and the restaurant was lackluster in general. We looked at each other as we sat and said this would have never happened at Morton's. As I was walking out of the restaurant I promptly called over to Morton's to make my reservation. We walked in and from the greeting straight through to dessert everything was perfect. BTW, the crab legs at Morton's were cooked to perfection and did not look remotely close to what the "seafood restaurant" was attempting to sell. How silly was I to even attempt to think another restaurant would provide the experience we have every time at Morton's. The management (Tony) is present and the service is impeccable (Oscar). This is our go to place. I can assure you-every special occasion will be spent here! I would like to add that I work with clients and eat in a lot of restaurants and none meet the standards that the management at this location have clearly set and never have I experienced service more professional and attentive, with an energetic personality as I have from Oscar. Above and beyond every time.
Morton's Steakhouse - Santa Ana
We celebrated a belated New year's Eve with friends and the 4 of us had a wonderful time. As always, the filet mignon was perfect, our friend that had the pork chop loved it as well. The ahi tuna tower and he scallops appetizer were delicious. Our server was terrific, always there when we needed her, but never in the way, and she let us enjoy our conversation, timing the food service perfectly.
Our server disappeared for long periods of time and had to be asked to open the wine we brought and go through the specials for the evening. Seemed either inexperienced or poor. Hopefully, just inexperienced. For the quality of food, I’ll try to give her benefit of doubt. At a high level steakhouse, I expect more and better.
Overall my first time at Morton’s was great. The food was amazing , that service was great and I enjoyed my overall experience. The only small drawback which I wasn’t aware of was that they have a cigar bar so the smoke was constantly traveling around the restaurant . It just wasn’t a pleasant smell to have to eat dinner with.
