Morton's The Steakhouse - San Jose

It was my son-in-laws birthday. We enjoy this restaurant every time we go. Our server was very good and extremely helpful. The food was excellent.
Dinner tonight was good, but service left much to be desired. Granted it was in the midst of the Friday night dinner rush, but service was less than you would expect at a restaurant that aspires to be of this caliber. Huge lags between check-ins of the table, just not very attentive or on it. The food was good and we were in no hurry to go anywhere though. My wife and mother in law enjoyed the twin lobster tails special offered on Friday's during Lent.
loud and laughing women at various tables, which I know you. Any control.
One thing that annoyed me was when asked if we wanted any garlic butter topping to our steaks we were not told was an extra charge ! Also the waitress should have been better on guiding us for ordering for my 10 year old son since there is no child’s menu offered, We could have shared a steak no problem !!!
My husband and I have tried Ruth's Chris steak house amd Alexander's steakhouse and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were looking for another similar experience closer to home so we decided to try Morton's. The look and feel of the restaurant was nice and our server was friendly, but he seemed really busy and any time we needed anything, such as a water refill, we would have to flag someone down. The food also didn't impress us. We could have gotten the sane quality from Outback for far cheaper. What was really sad was we only really ate our steaks and the side of corn, but our server didn't comment on how all the other plates were generally untouched and we didn't want boxes (that includes a starter salad, brussel sprouts which i normally love, and mushrooms). I didn't even drink my lemon drop (was not good at all). Overall, we won't eat there again. We spent $300 for our anniversary dinner and feel it wad worth only $50. Live and learn I guess. We will be going to Ruth's Chris as a re-do.
As always, my wife and I received excellent service as well as well prepared food. We were disappointed that Morton's had discontinued their chopped spinach salad. What a loss to a great menu!
Food was good, but not top notch. Our server, however, was fantastic.
Overpriced for the quality of food. Three out of the five steaks at our table were over cooked, one was cold - the staff did a good job of trying to remedy but for a steakhouse that has two priorities (quality of steak and how well it is cooked) it wasn’t worth the money.
I was so looking forward to this. The appetizer was delicious and the bread was amazing. It made me anticipate a great dinner. I ordered a filet with bone marrow. The filet was gritty and not seasoned. The bone marrow was like a dog bone baked too quickly. It wasnt succulent inside like it should have been. My husband ordered a cajun rib eye. The flavor was good but again the meat was gritty. We also ordered potatoes au gratin. It was so overly cheesey with no discernable flavors. We took leftovers home but dumped them. $400 not well spent.
we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, which was also a first visit for myself and my son and daughter. Food was phenomenal, dessert was very delicious, and the staff was super friendly and helpful.
Wine, steaks, cocktails and side dishes good. One appetizer order of scallops burned on one side :-(
First experience at Morton's. Would not recommend. Made reservation via open table which asked if it was a special occasion it was and I listed birthday. No one ever mentioned or asked if it was a special occasion. The waiter never asked us what we were celebrating, if it was our first time there if he could explain the menu. I know this because the wait person to the table behind us greeted the guest with a warm hello and lots of questions making them feel welcomed. Our waiter didn't check on us, we had to flag him down to ask for the wine I had order with dinner, we were already eating our meal. All of this was still to an extent so-so as we just wanted to enjoy our meal. The topper was that both me and my guest ended up getting very sick with in hours of eating there. We called Morton's twice and still have not received a call back. We had dinner Saturday and it is now Wednesday and we still have not been called back. We called Sunday and were told the general manager wouldn't be there until Monday. Tuesday we called back and the general manager said she never received the message. It's Wednesday we are still both very sick from eating there and still no one has called us back.
Great service and atmosphere. Food prices quite high for the portions but cooked to perfection.
Absolutely wonderful! Food, drink, and service (Chelsie absolutely awesome!) The best and my favorite restaurant EVER. A great Martini was also enjoyed by me as well as a great robust red wine chosen by Chelsie. And oh that Black Truffle Butter seeping through my Prime Rib Eye...just amazing. What a difference. Am very happy and satisfied. Will be back real soon. That's a promise!
Service was slow. Oysters came with only 1 cocktail fork. Salad was very soggy although they did take it off my bill. Very pricey and likely won't be back. Should have known better than to go to a chain restaurant.
The food and drink is near perfection. We had a 12oz filet mignon and the salmon mixed grill along with spinach and sour cream potatoes. Everything was done perfectly. My Manhattan was large, strong, and well done.
The noise level is a bit high here, but other than that it was a great dinner
Excellent in all regards. Price of 6oz filet has gone up dramatically tho. Too bad. Means we may not eat there as often.
I would definitely recommend Mortons to a friend. The food is excellent and the service is great. Our waiter had fantastic recommendations for food and drinks and the desserts were amazing too!
I would recommend Arcadia over Morton's...I was not very impressed with the cooking of the steaks; I asked for medium rare and it was a solid medium ( I wanted it bloody)...my finance asked for medium and there was NO pink so he got more on the medium-well side...I feel that I've cooked steaks just as good (maybe some better) at home so I just wasn't very impressed given all the surround of "Morton's". That said, the au gratin potato sides were AMAZING and the raspberry souffle was an experience (but I think the chocolate would have been better). It was not one of the best dinners I have eaten but the experience was nice. The waiter could have been better...we ordered the Morton's salad to share but he brought us a caesar...which we ate because we didn't want to wait for a new one to come.
Got there at 730. Dinner isn’t get there till after 9. We had just called the manager when the food finally came. It wasn’t a busy evening either.
Morton's was a very good experience. Although due to traffic my party and I were a bit late, the hostess seated me immediately. The server checked on me once before my family arrived, but after they arrived it was at least 10 - 15 minutes before he checked on us again. However, once he realized we'd all been seated he was very attentive.
The food was excellent and it takes a bit to impress my wife so she is typically my bellwether for cuisine. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the dining experience.
We were with a group of 8 people for a birthday. The waiters were super nice, funny and friendly. The food was sublime, everybody enjoyed their plate to the fullest. Worth the price and also a lovely experience when visiting San Jose.
Service was quite lacking as the female server literally rolled her eyes at every single request. Our reservation was at 2100 and closing is at 2200, so we were late customers. But to demonstrate your (the server’s) frustration to customers is absolutely unacceptable. And desirable desserts were unavailable because “the kitchen was already closed” (at 2150). We had 10 guests and spent $113 per person including (over 20 %) tip but were made to feel intrusive. The male server was pleasant though tentative and uninformed. One of our guests had been Director of Food and Beverage at a Hilton property in San Francisco and fully shares our discontent. The food was average, but coupled to inadequate service, dragged the experience down. A large portion of our group was Asian and celebrating the Lunar New Year on the first day of the New Year. The general feeling was that of not being the “proper” clients for the venue. Very disrespectful and disappointing!
Happy with the food quality, but disappointed with service and attitude. They misplaced dishes and even didn't recognize before we say it multiple times. Moreover, they insisted that they were accurately placed dishes even when we questioned it multiple times, but it turned out that they were wrong.
This random mix of dishes could be acceptable for general restaurants. However, we explicitly searched a high-cost restaurant with the expectation of decent service quality.
We went to Morton's for our pre-theatre dinner on Feb. 1. The place was packed so I was glad for our reservation. We were seated in the back banquette section, which is nice but close to the kitchen. We ordered several appetizers to share - crab cake, tuna tower, the house chopped salad, scallops wrapped in bacon and the potato gratin side. Overall, the food was OK. We enjoyed nearly everything we ate but it was all very overpriced for what we got. The crab cake was divine but we paid nearly $15 for one cake smaller than a hockey puck! The scallops were perfectly prepared and worth it, as was the tuna tower. I wouldn't recommend the au gratin potatoes as there was so much cheese, it was hard to find the actual potatoes, which were chunked and not sliced. Shawn, our server, was amazing! He was attentive without being intrusive, guiding us through the menu and very conscientious about timing as he knew we had theatre tickets. For the $150+ bill at the end (including 2 cocktails and a glass of wine), we won't return. It's too pricey for the amount of food you get.
I frequent Morton’s often while traveling for business.
As usual, I ate at the bar.
The bar at this location was a mess. Nothing was organized and there were more dirty dishes/glasses than anything.
The service was mediocre at best. Both of the bar tenders were slightly rude and inattentive.
I will likely never return to this Morton’s location.
Morton's is always great! The service is excellent and the food is always good.
Mortons's San Jose is a very nice place to celebrate!
Excellent food, wonderful staff to greet you as well as waitstaff; caring and professional.
Music was a little loud this evening; restaurant wasn't full on a Sunday night and since there are less customers talking, the music kinda overwhelmed. Other then that, we love it.
Excellent food and service. All of the steaks were cooked perfectly. Great cocktails!
Lobster was just ok...
$35.00 corkage is outrageous
They went above and beyond for my boyfriends birthday dinner. Our waiter was so kind and took care of any special request I had made. They even snapped a nice complimentary photo for everyone, it was a nice touch. Love Morton’s.
Morton's is a high end steak house. Group of 4 and we all had steak and lobster (special price for Landry Club members with potatoes and broccoli for entres. Salads and lobster soup w no desserts. The food was excellent - prepared exactly as ordered and with very attentive wait staff. The problem was that the restaurant was also hosting 3 large business groups (one group in the main dining room of over 50 folks. We had a 615 reservation and the 50+ group arriving around 630. To say we were quickly rushed through dinner is being kind to the restaurant. They were trying to roll over the table but we had the feeling that all the staff were trying to get our orders taken, food delivered (all courses) before the large groups arrived. Thus the time lag between drinks served, salads and soup and entre's arriving was minimal. We weren't done with the salads and the entre's were placed on the table. Noise level was acceptable when we sat down but as soon as the large group arrived (remember this was 50-60 people - and they stood around talking for 15-20 minutes before they sat down) the noise was worse that one of the local sports bars. There was minimal conversation at our table of 4 because it was impossible to hear anything. We were seating and out of the restaurant within 60 minutes. Not what I expected from this restaurant.
always enjoy our dinners at Morton's: great food, great service!
Had another enjoyable dinner, very consistent so have not been disappointed. Susan took very good care of us and will definitely ask for her on future visits.
We always enjoy going here.
Great food and service. They have a $40 special not on the menu until 1/25 for a complete dinner including soup or salad and dessert.
