Morton's The Steakhouse - San Jose Ratings and Reviews
The low overall rating is because of the service that we received on Mother's Day 2017. The food was outstanding; we had no complaints about any of the three meals that we ordered. The service was abysmal:had to remind waitress to bring one of two cocktails, had to ask a 2nd time for our 2nd glass of wine, and the time that it took for us to have our check brought to us and credit card processed was excruciating. For the price we pay at this caliber of restaurant the service should be top notch.
Meeh... it's not the same place it used to be when it was owned by Peter Morton. Landry had turned it into super high end fast food... a lot of the food tasted processed and formula. My steak was ordered medium rare and it came out seared and raw. They took it back and overlooked it. My wife's filet was tasteless. I tried. Wish it was better...
Meat was absolutely perfect. Juicy. Cooked just right and a healthy portion which could not be finished. The sautéed broccoli was very soft and interesting flavors. The key lime pie was large and very tasty. Not too sweet. And not overdone with lime. Quiet atmosphere. Server was very nice.
Very disappointed and the GM made it even worse.
The steak was completely grey, over done and dry as a bone. I made the mention to the Adam Scott, the GM and he said, "well it looks like its medium well, would you like some sauce or jus for that? Really true! I would not believe it but I had others to witness. He really does not understand the hospitality business where...the plate should have been taken back and replaced but he lacked judgement or professionalism for that matter.
The mixed grill plate was not edible...overdone steak, overdone shrimp and highly salted and underdone scallops. I had a piece of bread and headed out with my hubby.
Finally, the bathrooms were very dirty and not appropriate. If the GM of Mortons headquarters ever experienced this Mortons in San Jose, they would have them back in training. :(
Excellent service from our waiter Jose. Although we went to a steakhouse, we didn't have any steak. The menu had a great variety, as did the extensive wine list. I would not recommend the jumbo shrimp cocktail (although I only had one, it was way overcooked and tough) or the twice baked potatoes (more like chunky potatoes au gratin). Otherwise, everything else from the appetizer to the dessert was wonderful.
We celebrated our 52nd anniversary by dining at Morton's the Steak House.
Great food, prepared exactly as ordered. Served promptly but not too promptly - perfect wait time! Did not feel rushed.
Delicious steak and salmon. Bar drinks and service was excellent!
Service was excellent and wait staff was very knowledgeable
Timing of courses was way off. I admit we told the server we weren't in a rush, but the main course was delivered more than 30mins (not exaggerating) after the first course was cleared. Communication from our server regarding the delay would have gone a long way. It was never acknowledged during the wait or after the main course was delivered.
After reading some very negative reviews prior to our seating I have to say I have never had a better experience. Our food was amazing (best filet I've ever had), and the staff could not have been better. Our waiter (Ted) was most helpful in our selections. It was a really great experience and we will definitely return.
Food was not the greatest this time. Asparagus was very fiberus and hard to chew, mushrooms were crunchy and tasted old. We also tried the special steak (filet) and it was not as good as the filet minion that I was going to have and it was more $$. Over all had a great time with friends and family.
Morton's is essentially the spiffiest Denny's in the land. For the most part (outside of the steak and scallops, both of which require great effort to ruin) the food wasn't great, the service merely adequate, and the prices rival fine dining without the ...well...the fine dining.
There's much better in the area; we all deserve better than Morton's.
My husband and I recently dined at Morton's after a San Jose Broadway show. We arrived early and had happy hour cocktails and an appetizer in the bar area. I was pleasantly surprised that they do happy hour on Sunday! What a nice treat. The cocktails were wonderful as were the beef rib tacos...yum. Dinner also did not disappoint. I had the 6oz. filet mignon with shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops. They managed to get an amazing sear on the scallops without overcooking them. My husband had the cajun rib eye steak finished oscar style. It was incredible. Service was impeccable! This is a class act restaurant. Our experience capped off a nice day for us. Thank you Morton's. It was truly a pleasure and we will return again soon.
Excellent place to bring a date. The food was top notch and they have an extensive wine list. I brought my date here for her birthday and the servers went out of their way to make it a special occasion for her. The atmosphere was comfortable and not loud, so it made it easy to talk. Its a bit pricey, so I would recommend it for special occasions. All in all its a great place and I highly recommend it.
We made reservations to eat before a show. We were seated immediately and the waited was prompt and friendly. The food was excellent, especially the tuna tower and lobster bisque. We will be back to try other yummy dishes.
It was my son's 22nd birthday and I wanted it to be special since he moved out of the house earlier in the year. It was an opportunity to tangibly show how much we love him. Morton's did not disappoint. They actually had printed on the menus his name and birthday greeting and they took the perfect photo and framed it in a card for us. The food was amazingly perfect and the drinks were poured with excellence. He will not forget this birthday celebration - ever.
