Morton's The Steakhouse - San Jose Ratings and Reviews
I been coming to Morton’s the steak house for years now I stop for a few months since I relocated and today I was back in town with my wife! I had the ahi tuna tower for appetizer witch was ok wontons chips were burn. Order a chopped salad. I had the Cajun ribeye medium rare witch was over cooked was more like a medium well cooked steak my wife had a 6 oz filet medium rare and was over cooked. To end the night we order a lava chocolate cake that was not presentable. From me been a executive chef I will never allowed my kitchen serve a desert like that. Really disappointed and don’t think I’ll be going back!
The food was good and service was good although the waitress wasn’t very friendly. They messed up on our baked soufflé desserts and kept delaying for almost 40 minutes, until they finally said they had a problem with the oven and couldn’t make them. But the manager was very nice and gave us free desserts to go and also comp’d our drinks. Problems happen, but how they are dealt with is what counts; I think they did as well as they could have in this situation.
We celebrated our grandson's birthday. Service was excellent, as well as the each of the food courses. Morton's had our grandson's name printed on the menu's wishing him a "Happy Birthday". We always enjoy dining at this special restaurant. We also appreciate the complimentary photos provided by the staff. Great photos to take home and share.
Excellent meal, service, experience, but only 4 stars because 1) plate was not served hot (like they do at Fleming’s and Ruth’s Chris), so my steak cooled down pretty fast; and 2) the drawn butter for the lobster tail was served in a separate little bowl on the (unheated) plate and it too got cold pretty fast. Wonder why the butter was not served on the side in a chaffing pot? Other than those two minor complaints, all was great!
Very nice. Good food. Exactly what you’d expect. We eat at the bar a lot and came to the dining room for a Christmas dinner with some visiting family. It was spot on but the server was a little unenthusiastic and seemed if not bored maybe just over tired. She was nice and I can only imagine how demanding that role is during holiday but it didn’t make things feel so special. Still it was a nice experience and the receptionist was very nice.
Everyone from the host to bartender to the waitresses was very welcoming and attentive from the moment we walked in. But our own waitress and even the busboy wasn’t too attentive to us. The food was good, steaks were awesome and juicy, shrimp was a little too dry, and the scallops wrapped with bacon was a little over cooked. The side dish of mashed cauliflower was very tasty. The check reached almost $300 for 4 people, a little pricey but overall pretty good.
Morton's is a go to place for a good steak. The portions are quite large so my friend and I split a 16 oz rib eye and two sides (spinach/mushrooms & au gratin potatoes). It was a busy Christmas evening dinner and they were very busy but service was still prompt and attentive.
Disappointing. Everything was just OK. Nothing huge to complain about but many little things missed the mark. At this price level you expect excellent food and service but in this case nothing reached above mediocre. I would recommend going elsewhere if you want a great dinning experience.
We waited over 2 hours to be served our entrees and had to ask to get some bread after being there for almost an hour. Other tables of similar size were served, ate, and left before our entrees came out. When I complained (which I never do), the server did not apologize, but rather made excuses and blamed the kitchen staff. The service at Morton's is usually excellent, but this time, the dinner was a travesty.
We have been repeat customers and seen a steady decline in quality of food and service. For the price, both should be exceptional. This evening is was just fine. Bartender failed at making drinks completely, though. And dessert was a miss too. For a special occasion, go somewhere else.
Food was very good, service was not. It took a long time for the food to come, out server wasn’t very attentive and the noise level was way too high. It seems they have added more tables and we felt crowded and could hear our neighbors’ conversations very clearly. It used to be more cozy and romantic, now it is a family restaurant, but not what I would describe “romantic” anymore.
The table next to us was very loud until their food arrived. We arrived for our 6 p.m. reservation and finally got our steaks at 7:05. Apparently a large group got their order into the kitchen just before ours. The delay meant we could not stay for desert. If we go back we will make reservations for 5:30 in order to get to the theater for an 8 p.m. performance. Why no beer on tap? The wine list was just a bit shorter than War and Peace. Our server, Myra, was excellent. The Brussels sprouts side dish was good. The steaks were good and cooked correctly.
Morton's is NOT for folks on a budget, but the service is impeccable and the food is excellent. We go here 3-4 times/year, and they never disappoint. My 97 year old mother joined us for a birthday dinner, and the staff was very accommodating, seating us within easy reach of the door with adequate space to store her walker. We had a very nice time, as usual.
We spent 3 1/2 hours at dinner with 7 of us. The wait in-between courses was crazy long, bread for the table showed up 1 hour after we started. Our Waiter Brandon was great doing the best he could, it became clear that there were staffing problems and no flow to our dinner service.
In the end the manager did everything he could to make it right, but by that point it was too late.
After being seated, we had to ask the waitperson to turn down the music, because we could not hear each other converse at our table. We asked for both of our meat entrees to be served medium (pink in the center). Both entrees were served well done. We did notify our server and the restaurant manager. We will return to Morton's, because we enjoy the staff, and the food.
Our waiter was very attentive despite the Thanksgiving dinner rush. Always had a smile on his face and patient. The food was superb. My Dad loved the pork chops and did not leave anything but the bones on his plate. My mother enjoyed her shrimps, steak, and bacon wrapped scallops. My daughter loved her crab cakes. The lobster bisque was delicious with big huge lobster pieces. The noise level was not very loud; still very easy to converse at our table. Seating area was large. Only downside is the lighting, a bit dark for my taste. One older lady in the restroom had a hard time orienting herself because she couldn’t see very well in the low lighting. Otherwise, the food and service was top notch. Would come again.
