I have come here for our anniversary before and the first time it was perfect. The table was decorated with fun confetti. We had a perfect booth that made you feel alone in the restaurant. they took a photo and brought it to us at our table and we still have that photo on the counter at home. This year I came back with expectations which was my first mistake. They seated us at a table right next to the kitchen where they were dropping dishes and making me feel startled. They are not allowed to decorate the table any longer, and though they did take a picture, we had to ask for it on our way out the door. The service was definitely lower than expected. But the food was excellent.
We were going to an event after dinner and told our server we were on a tight schedule but had to request multiple times that our food that was ready and under the heat lamp to be delivered to the table. We were charged for three items that were never delivered. The food was very good but the service was the worst I have ever had at a Morton's. Never going back to this location.
DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.....HORRIBLE FOOD AND OVERPRICED FOR THE QUALITY OF FOOD YOU RECEIVE!!
I went to Morton's Steakhouse in San Jose last night with my parents prior to going to a concert at SAP. I picked a high end restaurant because my parents are very particular with their food choices. We were EXTREMELY disappointed in the food. All the food was over-salted and I don't say this lightly because I love salt. My mother ordered a salad and had to return it. Then she ordered onion soup....it was very bitter and had a horrible taste. She returned it. My father order Linguine with Prawns....again VERY salty. He still ate it. I had the Miso Seabass which was......over salted.....I still ate it. We told the waitress to let the cook know that he is putting TOO much salt in his food. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this restaurant. The only positive was the ambiance and our waitress was great.
We went to Morton's to celebrate a special occaision and Morton's did not disappoint! The food was excellent and prepared exactly as ordered. I had the new mixed grill and the seafood as well as the steak was perfectly cooked. The bar menu is extensive and all our drinks were excellent as well. Morton's wine list is especially nice - great wines and a nice range of prices for most budgets.
The oysters were spoiled. Appetizers came before cocktails that we ordered. I have to remind to the waitress to bring us our drinks. Even after that we were waiting about 15 minutes. The cocktails were disappointing as well. It's was tasted like alcohol wasn't there. Filet Mignon was good. Overall wasn't good experience.
Mortons is one of those restaurants that really give you a great downtown vibe. It is located in The middle of down town so it is very convenient dining spot after a Sharks game, convention or any event, since it is located right next to a public garage on the same block (They do not validate) and even offers vallet parking.
The steaks are delicious. My favorite is. The bone in ribeye, it comes at you at 22oz cooked to perfection. It is nice and tender and with a really hearty beffy flavor, no marinade needed. Sides are plentiful, The sour cream Mash Potatoes will feed two people, they were fluffy with small chunks of potatoes mixed it to give it some texture which really complements the steak.
Everytime I go to Mortons, I always order Shrimp Alexander. It comes with four decent size shrimps that is plated on top of this cream sauce. I wish I knew exactly what the sauce was but it doesn't matter because it's just plain delicious.
Mortons is the place to go to when you want to step your steak game up, and want the great service with a great steak. Expect to pay about $75-$100 a head (depending on order) I don't drink neither do the people I go here usually with so expect that price to be higher if you do. Over all it's a great chill place to undwind after a work week or celebrating with friends and or family.
We dined at Morton's to celebrate my husband's birthday. My son suggested it as he had gone before and gave it great reviews. This was our first time and I had high expectations. My husband's Filet Mignon was overcooked and he had to send it back; I had the Salmon which was cooked well but needed more seasoning. My son's were happy with their meals, prime rib and King Crab legs. I thought the choice in sides were mediocre. For the price, I would have liked
to have had a more expansive menu selection. It could have been an off night but it definitely
did not live up to our expectations.
Our waitress Esther was super web. Unfortunately the manager was designated to bring our bottle of wine. The wine took over 5 minutes to get to the table because the manager was playing favoritism at another table having an extended meet an greet with the diners two tables over. I see why they strongly recommend one f their seasons butters on the steaks. With out the butter their steaks have NO flavor. The must be the low end of prime, very inferior quality. Morton’s is a very distant third to Pappas Steakhouse and Ruth Ruth Chris. Will never go back. Greatly over priced.
I don't know how this place survives. Ordered a chopped spinach salad, it was bizarre. Disgusting mushrooms (tasted like they were canned), weird dressing, and I have better quality bacon in my fridge. Entrees were two filets, ordered medium. My date's was medium well with no pink toward the ends. No seasoning at all. If you're going to advertise yourselves as a steakhouse, you really need to get the temp right on your steaks - like, priority 1. Au Gratin was SO plain. The potatoes were just to big of a cut to get any flavor in. Brussels sprouts had zero flavor either. They were mushy and tasted like if you'd steamed plain sprouts with no seasoning. The only thing half decent was the chocolate soufflé. Pricey lesson learned (not in dollar cost, but in a ruined special event)... Never again Morton's.
Our server (make) who we forgot to ask his name, was great and very attentive. He made our date night very special and helpful with the menu. The appetizers we ordered were grilled oysters, fresh oysters and lobster Mac n cheese. The food we ordered was really good as well. Since we were celebrating our civil wedding, the house gifted is dessert which was also amazing.
We will definitely make a return.
Great place, but I can't recommend it to anyone because my opinion is so highly regards that if I recommend it, everyone within 100 miles will flock to the place and I won't be able to get a table anymore! So stay the hell away! But if we're just talking steaks here, that wagyu filet I had the other night was just maybe the single best steak I ever ate. Amd I've eaten a lot of great steaks.
Very poor service. No attention to detail.
My mom had to move her wineglass towards the server to get her glass poured. Everyone got their appetizers but they forgot my dad's salad.
The steaks were good but under cooked. The quality was still good so we did not complain. We ordered two porterhouse steaks and I was very irritated that they did not serve it like they do at Ruth's Chris and they did not explain the cut to my parents. Service was definitely subpar and I was unhappily our my 15% gratuity.
we had a wonderful experience at Mortons. The staff was so kind. We celebrated my husbands birthday. They put his name on our menu's, they took our picture and gave us copy to take home and a free dessert. My husband had the special and thought it was the best steak he has ever had. I really enjoyed my filet diane too! FYI if you valet with them they will validate but they won't if you park in the garage.
We spent a little over three hours at our table. Our waitress was perfect. She asked us at the very beginning what our timeframe was, we told her we have no timeframe and she did take her time. She allowed us to order appetizers first and after eating that then we ordered soup and still did not rush us to order our main course. Wonderful experience recommend it highly!
We were seated in front of the kitchen would would normally prompt me to ask to move but Mortons has many booths in front of the kitchen. It was very noisy and busy. But I was with my son so we were fine. It did irk me though, we were dressed nicely and have been there many times before. Our waitress was great. Helped us find a fabulous bottle of wine (BelleGlos Clark &Telephone Pinot) and asked for our time horizon, which was great since we were heading to the theater after dinner. But dinner came very late, leaving us ten minutes to eat real quickly. Our waitress apologized profusely and didn't know why it took so long but ... it changed everything and we no longer could enjoy our food and wine. And when I finally did receive my steak I was so disappointed . (I go to Mortons when I want a good steak) I ordered the 8oz center cut Filet Mignon and it was chewy and overlooked. They did remove it from the bill, but since we had to go, I didn't have the steak I was so looking forward to.
I was very surprised since I frequent Landry's restaurants often, and I do so because of their quality.
We frequent Mortons for most anniversary or birthday type celebrations. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary last week at the Mortons in San Jose CA. The waitress was wonderful, (can't recall her name), my old fashioned was spot on, but the steak was absolutely horrible. This was unfortunately the second filet mignon I have had from mortons in 4 months that was sub-par. I asked for my steak medium-rare and the steak came out purple after cutting into it. The most disappointing part was how tough the steak was. As I sat in disappointment over my poorly cooked steak I could observe the chef in the kitchen cooking other steaks. It was a complete mess, flipping steaks constantly resulting in a tough leathery steak. Not the experience you wish to have at Mortons, but after back to back misses I think we will be heading elsewhere. There is a new Flemmings opening in early August in santa Clara so we may give that a whirl.
