Morton's The Steakhouse - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
Great steaks. Bit pricy, all A la carte, so the price creeps up pretty quickly. $120 for a large steak (just the meat, no veggies, sides) to share betweemn two. Would have fed four...Large portions of everything, so good to share (such as the delicious iceberg wedge salad). Great service and ambience. Very central (union square area). Definiutely recommend for a special occasion.
We went here for a special 30th anniversary dinner. Great service, food, special attention for the celebration - glitter and bling put on our table, comped aperitifs, picture of us taken, printed, and given to us in a frame - signed by the staff- nice touch! Be sure to check online for specials before you go - they offered a dinner for 2 for $109 -but didn't mention it when we got there.
Expensive steak compared with House of Prime Rib.
We ordered souffle and steak at the same time as the waiter told us it takes 30 mins of the souffle. However, when we finished our entree, we were told that my favorite souffle is not available as it was collapsed, and they gave us 2 other desserts for compensation.
We were in San Francisco for an anniversary celebration trip. We wanted somewhere special for our anniversary dinner and chose Morton's. We ordered the Porterhouse for two; as it appeared to be an excellent cut of meat. It was cooked to our specification, medium rare, but we were disappointed in the flavor - or rather lack of flavor. The steak tasted, well to be honest, bland. The salad & sides we ordered were very good and desert was excellent. But, we chose Morton's for the steak not for the dessert.
My husband and I were sending out son on a special trip and wanted to "send him off" with a memory. We were not disappointed. Everything was delicious and done to perfection. Our steaks are memory that I keep enjoying! Our server James was awesome as well as the rest of the staff who kept checking with us to see how our meal was or if there was anything we needed.
My husband and I were visiting San Francisco for business and also to celebrate his birthday. I chose Morton's because of the varied menu items. My husband likes beef and I like seafood. My husband prefers his steak extra well done. I'm sure the chef was rolling his eyes when he got the order, but my husband's steak was cooked to perfection for him. My lobster tail was fresh, moist, and had the most unbelievable flavor. I highly recommend the beefsteak salad -- freshest tomato I have had in a long time. This was the perfect dining experience.
I took my husband to celebrate Father's Day and we had a wonderful celebration. We always are excited to see our photo. We were pleased....as usual. I always eat the lobster and my husband the T-bone steak. Both were prepared to perfection. We're planning our next celebration.
We went here for our first anniversary and everything was fabulous. Portions are large (for us) so we split everything. Food, service, and ambiance was superb. Save room for the chocolate lava cake dessert (I think that's what it was called). We are definitely going to celebrate our second anniversary there!
Within 5 minutes of making Open Table reservations where I indicated that we were going to Morton's to celebrate my husband's birthday, I received a phone call from the restaurant asking what my husband's name was and that they were going to do something special. When we arrived, I gave my name and they immediately greeted my husband with birthday wishes. We were seated in a nice quiet booth in the back corner with the view of all the action. The table was decorated with birthday confetti and we had custom menus with the date and 'happy birthday, John' printed on top. Every staff that came to the table ( bread guy, waiter, servers and manager) all wished my husbamd a happy birthday. Dessert complimentary. Photo taken & given to us.
Steaks were good and cooked the way we ordered: from medium-rare to medium well.
One disappointing detail is that I found handwritten "service $40" on my detailed bill. It was not included in the price, just a "friendly reminder" (we have accent and the waiter was apparently afraid to get "european style" tips). Do not appreciate it in the restaurant of this level.
One of the best steakhouses in the City, and their Dinner for Two promotion (i.e. 2 steaks, 2 appetizers, 2 salads, and 2 deserts for $109.00 together) is the best deal around. Excellent and very comprehensive wine selection, great service, and great ambiance and dining experience.
Morton's has always been a safe bet when in another city and having to invite business partners on short notice, without having time to read reviews or ask around. Once again, I was not let down and except for a slightly slow service in the beginning, the experience was good and I am alread looking forward to my next visit.
I attended Mortan's for dinner to celebrate my friend's daughter's 21st birthday. The food was fabulous and the staff was great. Not only did they provice excelent service but they made the night special by taking memorable pictures of her and her friend for keepsakes and scattered the table with "21" party decorations and gave her an awesome signature desert. It was an overall fantastic experience and one I will readily share.
I took my fiancee here for her birthday. The food is great but it's expensive. There were four of us and we all got something different and shared. For appetizers, we got two orders of raw oysters and one shrimp cocktail. For entrees, we got the lobster, crabcakes, rib-eye and porterhouse with cream spinach, caramelized onions and potatoes and green beans for sides. We brought our own wine so not including alcohol, total came out to $480 with tax and tip. The lobster and crabcakes were awesome. I've had better ribeye. Overall, the food was great but it's not cheap. I would recommend trying at least once but unless you have money to burn, you can find more economic dining.
