We go to Morton's usually on special occasions. Birthdays, Anniversary etc. This occasion was celebrating my wife's birthday. from the time we entered the restaurant for our 6:45 reservation we were treated like regulars. We were seated in an amazing booth and felt like family. We were given a souvenir menu and a table photo of us to commemorate the celebration. Neal runs the front of the house flawlessly and made us feel very special. Our wait staff was led by Jose and he did an amazing job. Oh and the food!!! Best Steaks we have had in a very long time. The pièce de résistance, Chocolate souffle!!! They even brought out a surprise Chocolate mousse with a birthday candle. We cannot wait to go back
I’m a frequent diner at this chain. At this location, all our steaks and rack of lamb were over cooked (well done vs. medium). Shrimp weren’t deveined and folks who ate scallops got sick. Refill on cocktails was offered and never came. I called the restaurant to speak with the manager and did not get a call back. I’m very disappointed having spent a significant amount of money and received a mediocre experience. I’ll be re-evaluating using this chain in the future.
Overall over paid for AVERAGE EXPERIENCE
It was beau’s birthday and i wanted to take him somewhere new and nice. Sadly, our dinner experience fell SHORT of our expectations.
We started off with drinks and bread. Within 10 minutes, a hostess came around to take our photo however as we had not yet had any food worthy photos we asked if she could come back when appetizers or dinner was served. She said not a problem and left.
10 min later, we started the meal off with oysters. Once served, we asked our waiter if the hostess come back and take our photo, after 5 min of waiting we ate half and when they waiter came back to ask if she had come by, we said no and settled for a photo with our phone.
After the photo, i asked our waiter to add on a chopped spinach salad to share before our dinner came. I even spoke with him about the different types of dressing and asked for it on the side...30 minutes later, no salad and no food. I flagged down our waiter to ask abut our salad. He said oh yes, disappeared, and then came back with a menu asking me what i ordered. NOT the type of service i was expectIng. I re-ordered my salad which didn’t come for another 10 min. The waiter acknowledged the long wait and apologized as the kitchen was busy. I was a but surprised as it seemed it was only 75-80% capacity and assumed a restaurant of this caliber could easily handle the volume (apparently not).
Our dinner finally arrived... 55 minutes later. The food was the saving grace for tonight. Steve’s rib eye and my rack of lamb were delicious. Our waiter asked us upon serving if we wanted any hot desserts as they did take 15-20 min to make. Not having a menu to look at we decided to pass at the time as we were pretty hungry and simply wanted to eat.
Our waiter checked in on us once after 10 min and 30 min later we were done eating and waiting for our check. No comped birthday cake or anything for all the mishaps. We got out after 2 hours and were late for cake with the family.
We had a great time.. took my wife for her birthday. Food was great. Atmosphere was very nice.
My husband and I have been to numerous steakhouses, but he had mentioned a few times he had never been to Morton’s and wanted to try it sometime. So for a much-needed dinner date after a long week, I surprised him and told him to get dressed up and we were going to dinner. We were both really excited to have a nice night out and splurge on ourselves.
The ambiance was nice, but I was shocked that people were dining in jeans. I’m fairly certain our waiter and food runners were new, or inexperienced at that. When our bread came, it was a huge, unsliced loaf we had to tear into like wild animals since our huge steak knives flattened the bread while I tried to cut it to try to eat it in a somewhat civilized manner. We kept having to ask for a bread plate because ours were taken three times. The tall manager kept talking to staff members and overseeing the dining room right next to our table. Kind of felt like we were in the principal’s office.
Our dinner was okay, but nothing was fantastic OR as pictured. We ordered the seasonal beet and goat cheese salad that looked absolutely delicious on their seasonal special insert in the menu. Initially, we thought we were served the wrong dish because we were given a a pile of spinach and a few small slices of beets hidden in the salad. We were fairly certain they split one beet between the two of us. I couldn’t even eat half my salad because my beets were so incredibly salty. It was disgusting. As for our steaks and side of twice baked au gratin potatoes, they were just okay. The plain asparagus spears were the highlight of my meal, if that tells you anything. Nothing was worth returning for, and most certainly not for the price. Luckily, we were just happy to be together.
We had six people for a business dinner before a Kings game. Reservations were made for 5pm. The dining room didn't open until 5:30pm so we had some drinks in the bar. We sat down at a nice table and ordered too many appetizers! 😜 It was all good.
We all ordered different steaks, filet, prime ribeye, NY, etc. We have all had great experiences with Morton's in the past and we're really surprised when 4 out of the six came cooked incorrectly. I ordered my ribeye medium rare and it came medium well. Another guest ordered her filet medium well and it came rare. Our client's steak was practically burnt. The waiter offered to cook us new ones but we needed to get to the game. They did try to make it right by bringing us a light dessert and some wonderful port, but we were all very surprised by the steaks.
The food was absolutely amazing. I brought a friend for his 21st birthday celebration and the service was phenomenal. 5 stars. I would recommend this to anyone that loves great service and top quality steaks. Thank you Morton's.
Easily one of the best steakhouses I've ever been to. Amazing food to go with an exceptionally large wine list. While the food is expensive, it is well worth it for special occasions and dates. The steaks were seasoned to perfection and the wine perfectly complemented the meal. Good luck trying to secure a reservation though
Valentine’s Day date night. They had specials for vday. Waiter was great with helping to pick a wine with our dinner. Definitely will be back
Food was just “okay” . Steak was cooked correctly but had a lot of gristle. Not very happy considering the price they ask for a steak. I’ve eaten at plenty of steakhouses that put Morton’s to shame. It’s my last choice in true steakhouses.
We had waited almost an hour for desserts after our meal even though we put in an order for dessert along with dinner. Forgot one dish altogether
Nice restaurant great food nice service! We’ll be back
Best food you’ll find around. Steaks are cooked to perfection and service is always at its best. Will be coming back for sure.
Great food and A+ service
As always, a pleasurable dining experience with very attentive and accommodating staff.
The only complaint this time was the creamed spinach was very dry and overly spiced with nutmeg...I always order this side dish...my fave! Boris was a fabulous server, too!
It was fine.
Wonderful night out with the family. Such great food and service. VIP!
The total experience was worth the drive. Everything we could have wanted. The food was excellent, the service was on point. We really enjoy Morton’s!
Great food and service!
Service a bit slow. Food very bland and WAY overpriced.
Great .. cold food ugh
Everything was absolutely perfect.
Everyone was great buy Johnny was awesome!!! Thank you again sir for your service.
always excellent...service and food...location... great general manager that shows leadership which translates throughout his staff...
Bread is $9 and it is brought to the table. We did not know we had to pay separate for it. It was under-cooked a bit and the dried onion was overpowering.
The waiter brought a steak entree out with a mistake (he caught it and I didn't say anything) and took it back to the kitchen with an apology. Had to wait for the entree for longer than expected. When entree was brought the steak was overdone, waiter confirmed and brought another steak and a new side (because food was getting cold) with the chef. Took about 10 minutes or so. During this time my spouse was waiting to eat out of courtesy while his food was getting cold. The chef offered a free dessert with his apology.
The food itself was not tasty. The 5 onion soup was bland as well as the au gratin side of potatoes. The Brussels sprouts were a bit under-cooked in our opinion. The manager presented the bill with an apology and did not charge for the dessert or the steak entree. We thought that was a very nice gesture as we never complained or asked for discounts.
Overall the food was mediocre. Our bill (with a bottle of wine) was over $240 for two people. We have had wonderful meals for half the price with the same type of entrees. Sacramento has great restaurants and Morton's needs to improve to these standards.
Morton's of Chicago is always good, no mater what city you find it in. Sacramento Mortons is always my favorite in the country.
94th Birthday! Was wonderful. Parking was very difficult! So many cars on street valet had to go up block. Will dine somewhere else with easier parking.
Arrived at 7:38 for our 7:45 pm reservation only to be told by a tall male manager/host that we had to wait closer to our reservation time. No one greeted us or told us where to wait. No one ever came to get us in the bar area. Finally at 7:46 ish, another host called the name of Harris (who is my partners last name), so we proceeded to go with him to the table but realized it was not our table as the reservation was made under Torres. The host decided to leave us at the table and said we did nothing wrong. No explanation was offered about the mixup. My place setting was all messed up and no one corrected it. Drinks not refreshed timely, and desert took for ever. Our waiter did not tell us about the 30 minute wait for suffle otherwise we would have ordered during course of our dinner. We ordered something else.
Marc took great care of us. Food was good.
Had a great meal really enjoyed the evening. Our server was so friendly and attentive. Great food and wine in a very elegant relaxing atmosphere. Our only issue was trying to get to the valet stand. Golden 1 Center had a game and many streets blocked off we couldn't get to valet. Luckily the valet helped us out and came and got our car on Capital Ave. and parked the car for us thanks so much.
Excellent food and excellent service. My wife and I enjoyed a post Christmas meal.
First time, and, the adventure was all we heard it would be. Excellent, food and service.
This was my first time going to Morton’s. Been wanting to go here for months. Honestly was sadly disappointed in a handful of areas. Morton’s was not that busy when we arrived. Everyone was brought water etc expect me. I waited for almost an hour for waitress to come back. I had a to ask a passing by waiter to get it for me. We were also informed they were out of mashed potatoes. Which was fine. Guests ordered baked potatoes no big deal. Well when they brought the food to the table. It was a dried out very lumpy baked potatoe mashed up. My boyfriend ordered a cut of meat. On the menu it stated it came with other items, when he got it all that was on the plate was the meat. The last thing I was very dissatisfied with. I ordered two pounds of Alaskan king crab. Which costs over 120$ which I don’t mind spending. But the crab was covered in so much butter it was hard to get down.
Christmas dinner which was perfect thanks to excellent serving staff.
Server Josh, was outstanding. Food always good.
We have been celebrating my husband’s birthday here for years. Over the years and the change of ownership the service as gone downhill. Management always tries to stay on top of any issues we have had but the professionalism is just not there. When we’re paying over $400 for our meal, we expect to have professional service.
The place is nice as fare as decoration and style but it was kept a bit too dark. I could barely see that the bacon that wrapped my scallops was barely done, could have used a bit more cooking. I was really disappointed with the three $23.00 scallops. They were mushy and tasteless. I had the ribeye and it was good but a little more rare than medium rare. Was much better the next day with a bit more cooking. It was my first time there and no one explained that the sides were large and I feel they were fairly expensive for mashed potatos and some Brussels sprouts (a few of them were actually just this side of raw!
All in all, I think I'll keep looking for the perfect Christmas dinner place. I wanted Prime Rib anyway.
It has become an annual tradition for us to dine at Morton's on Christmas Eve, as it's a nice atmosphere and great food. This year we were disappointed in how crowded the dining room was. They squeezed in at least one extra rows of tables in and it maddest difficult for wait staff and guests to maneuver to the tables, into seats, etc. The added crowds also hurt the food quality as the salads had too much dressing, the lamb was overcooked, etc. It is still our favorite steakhouse in Sacramento, but hopefully they will rethink the overcrowding next year for Christmas Eve.
Table was to small for food to be served. We were at a four top that was only meant for two people. Food was delicious. Would come back if we could get a table suitable to be served our food.
