Morton's The Steakhouse - Reston Ratings and Reviews
We went here for restaurant week. Our server was clearly not happy about that choice. Salad was awful - soggy iceberg lettuce and blue cheese with no flavor. Entrees and sides were delicious. Service was marginal, but the worst aspect was the very delayed delivery of second glasses of wine - they were ordered when we finished our appetizers and arrived mid-way through the main course. Neither of us were quick enough to say that we'd rather not have them at that point, but we should have.
Have been several times before and always had a positive experience. Would I go again - probably for a business dinner if a client really wanted to, but otherwise no.
Overall, very disappointed. The service was poor. It was Restaurant Week, but that menu was not provided. When we asked for it, the server was condescending and replied, "Oh, you want to order off that menu." Also, they didn't accommodate a food allergy of our child. They made no attempt to identify an appetizer or a dessert that she could eat even though we provided notice well in advance of the allergy. Overall, an unwelcoming environment, especially for families.
The food and service were excellent. The music was very loud and difficult to carry on a normal conversation. I asked our waiter twice to see if they could turn it down and he said yes, but it never happened. The loud music took away from the luncheon experience that we all had looked forward to.
We had a delicious dinner for party of 7. Cajun ribeye, crab cakes and stone crab for dinner. Brussels were great. The reason it was not 5 star is because service was slow. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks. Basically had water and bread all that time. We had to wait for refills too long also. Also the bartender had a heavy pour so drinks were strong. Servers were standing in back talking it appeared and the server refilling waters would not speak to us when we tried to get his attention for some service. Dinner took over two hours though we ordered dinner when we placed our drink orders.
Love Mortons but it is as pretentious as it is delicious. We went for the $40 3 course 40ty anniversary deal. Otherwise the cost is stunning. However delicious the food is (and it’s amazing), the Reston restaurant is way too loud (making it hard for a quiet relaxing evening) and our server was overly busy and way too slow. Coffee should not take ten minutes. It took about 20 for him to even return to us to order after our drinks. It wasn’t relaxing slow service either because we saw him buzzing around to other tables in the meantime. Delicious but I’m not feeling like the whole experience would be worth it at full price.
Not bad. Took much too long for group of 10 to be seated with prior reservation; and restaurant was not very full/busy. Table did not get bread, had to ask/remind server. Valet parking put our 4-5 cars across the street, gave us the keys and had all of us go get them. All above I believe new/unusual for Morton's. Maybe things have changed.
Noise level way too high - sounded like an insane asylum for jazz museums. Took 15 minutes to check in. My table was tilted. My steak was cooked on the outside, raw on the inside. Could not see my meal, had to use my phone flashlight in order to eat. I know restaurants jack up the wine price, but 3 times the price on the internet is ridiculous. Not sure I will be going back.
The food was delicious but for a Sunday evening with very few patrons, the staff was off their game. We were seated next to a couple who was complaining about their bill that was incorrectly prepared. The waiter taking care of the problem was muttering to himself which we could clearly hear when he passed by our table. This was within the first minutes when we sat down. There were no butter knives on the table for the complimentary bread and butter so the steak knives were used. I ordered bernaise sauce with my meal and did not get it when the meal arrived so I had to ask for it which took a little bit of time. We ordered a bottle of red wine which our waiter poured for us. However, he poured the red wine into my white wine glass which I had not yet finished. He felt badly about it and apologized. I had designated the reservation as a birthday but the waiter apologized for not being able to find candles for the soufflé that was ordered. The food was good but for the price, there were too many apologies and the service was disappointing.
The food was below the usual Morton’s standard. The bacon steak appetizer was mostly solid fat. The spinach salad was bland. The Waygu filet was no better than the standard fiket, and the truffle butter was oily and not complementary. The drinks were good and well made, strong pours, and the service was excellent.
Great Steaks...definitely one of the best. It was our anniversary and wanted to try something more elegant and flavorful. This was our first time and we were not disappointed. By far the best steakhouse and will definitely recommend to friends and family to try.
Went for our anniversary and my wife and I loved it. The waitress had a little trouble recommending a wine with our dinner but not a huge deal, price was going to dictate our choice anyways. They made specially printed menus and printed a nice picture of us at our table for our anniversary to keep as keepsakes which was appreciated. The food was amazing. I'm not a huge red meat guy but if steak was always this tasty I would eat it everyday.
My wife had the crab cakes and they were outstanding. The service was excellent as well. Sadly, my pork chop was not as good as I had expected. It was a bit dry and seemed rather bland. The table we had was nice but it was in the direct path of the door, which, as we discovered later, permitted cold wind to blow straight at us during dinner.
Our family dinner for celebration of a December graduation & Christmas was lovely. Three adults and two (well-behaved) children 10 & 6 were all treated so kindly and professionally by our waiter, Dave. The kids were fascinated how our water glasses were never allowed to go empty! The food was perfect - a couple of us shared the Porterhouse for Two, others had filet and the bone in ribeye. Memorable. The kids asked if we could come every week they loved the beef so much. Certainly will become a tradition for other special occasions when I’m in town.
The noise level was awful---the waitress and my guest couldn't hear each other from 3 feet away. The server attention was non-existent---brought the bill and tossed it on the table. The steak was not deserving of the price--the steaks at Jackson's for half the price are much better. Will only go back to use the balance of the gift card--that's it.
For a restaurant known for quality and service, this visit proved to be a very disappointing exception. Although we arrived when the restaurant was barely occupied (6 PM), it took the staff quite some time to attend to our table. We had to ask for lemon for the water more than once and Morton's signature bread was not served until well after the entrees had arrived. Furthermore, this was a birthday celebration which was not acknowledged by the restaurant as it had been in the past . . . actually had to mention that it was a birthday to our server. In the past, the restaurant printed personalized menus and took pictures of the occasion . . . nothing at all this time. As the dinner progressed, the noise level of the establishment grew to a din. Overall, this was the worst Morton's visit ever . . . and it has been a favored establishment that we have visited many times throughout the country over the years.
