Morton's The Steakhouse - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
The two of us went to dinner at Morton's equipped with a $100 gift card that we thought would take a big bite out of the final tab, yet we ending up paying $250 more, including tip. While the meal was good, it wasn't so exceptional that it justified a $350 price. Consider too that we both had just two glasses of wine each, and we skipped dessert. And maybe it is me, but the decor at Morton's is very cheap and tired. There are so many better places to spend $350 for dinner for two.
The food was fine but definitely not worth the money. There are much better steakhouses in the area if you are going to drop $100 a person before gratuity. The service was great-- the staff could not have been nicer. We found the inside to be a little run-down, and the food to be way overpriced. The lobster tail was a bit dried out, and filet mignon was fine. Nothing over the top. Again, it's more the bang for your buck I have a problem with. If I'm going to pay that much for food, I want to be wowed. I wasn't.
The NY strip was excellent. However, it was slightly burnt. The waiter gave a very convincing presentation, but was not up to par with his information about the different cuts, falsely stating filet mignon was the leanest cut when it is actually the cut with the most fat. However, the overall experience was very good.
We went to celebrate our daughter's birthday. All of the staff knew it was her birthday and came by to give birthday wishes. The food, ambiance and service was all outstanding. We even got parking directly across the street - in Center City. It was a perfect evening. We'll definitely return.
Everything about our evening at Morton's was wonderful. We were running late for our reservation and their was no problem with the restaurant. When we arrived our table was ready. Everyone at the restaurant was friendly, attentive and wonderful. Made our dinner a memory we will not forget. The food was delicious, steaks were cooked to perfection and we experienced some of the best food ever! Thanks.
I have systematically been working though the steakhouses in Philly including The Palm and Barclay's Prime. The food at Morton's, and particularly the steaks, are better. Barclay's is too quiet and The Palm is too frenetic. I would note that when Morton's has a "special", that they still provide premium menu items at exceptional pricing, and they allow you to "upgrade" at fair pricing. It's always good to ask about special offers as like most restaurants of this I'll, ordering ala carte can be overly expensive.
Your bartender is great!!!! I love coming in finding out what Nancy has been up too! Nancy really makes you feel welcomed and she love to tell you what the deals are too. She the best!
I’ve been to Ruth Chris (it’s just ok) and the Palm (love the business meal special) but as for sitting at their bar and for the bartenders, it’s like just here's your drink but with Nancy, she’ll talk to you and if your alone she'll introduce you to others (that's if ok with the customer)and tell what’s going on in the city.
I’ve been to Morton’s when Mike and Rob bartend too. They’re really good too! Sorry but I must say, your Nancy is over all the best you have there! I come in with others and still sit at the bar, my customers love her and she
I want to be very fair, so I would like to first state that food was very good. However, service was definitely not there esp. given that there were only 7 tables occupied. It took 20 minutes before the menu came (and I am not sure why the waiter has to "read" an entire menu without putting down the paper menu in front of customers - there is no way we can remember all of that) and another 10+ minutes before the waiter came back to take order. I asked for the menu twice before the menu arrived (once to a bus boy and another time to the waiter himself) so I don't think we appeared disinterested in anyway to look at the menu. Great steak, poor service.
Food was done to perfection for the ' basicness ' of the menu, only problem was the waitstaff is broken down very strangely, it seemed we had two separate servers, therefore confusion may have been caused and my date actually never got his soup, and it was on the bill, very nice enough to give it to us to go. This particular time dinning I had asked for certain things to be done in honor of my dates birthday, and they followed my instructions 100% which was great. Great food, but service is a little robotic.
Spotty service and food for a Morton's. The waiter that started serving us disappeared half-way through the meal, and was replaced with no explanation. One of our party ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, which arrived still FROZEN (not just cold) in the middle. When he sent it back, it was returned properly cooked a few minutes later, but with no apologies or offer of any compensation. Overall, a disapointing meal.
I was extremely disappointed that such a noted steakhouse did not properly cook my steak as requested. I ordered my steak medium well as per the waiters suggestion since I said I would like it pink with no red. My steak arrived and it was a perfect medium, the way the waiter had described medium, pink with a red center. They did take my plate back, but the sides I had already placed on the dish were not returned. Also the steak, when returned, was dry. All they did is cook it more and placed it in a clean plate.
For the price charged, I expected more. Since Morton's is known for its quality steaks, I expected the chefs to be able to get them perfect. To my disappointment, that was not the case and they were not very busy that day either.
The restaurant was well worth the price. I look like I am very young, younger then I am. I am 26 and usually a waiter will be skeptical about serving young people due too poor tips. Our waiter was fantastic and knew so much about the food and gave great suggestions needless to say he was compinsated very well. I am definately going back and will recommend this place to everyone.
Perhaps we caught them on an off night. It was late, so I understand why the waitstaff was less attentive than normal. After speaking with the bar tender (when I got up from my dinner table to get a drink since the waiter hadn't asked if I wanted a refill after 25 minutes of an empty glass) I was told that the waiter actually lied about not having my selection in stock. Did I mention the $4 up-charge for ordering my single malt scotch neat? How else is it supposed to be served?
Steak was medium plus. I asked for medium rare. Unacceptable for a $55 steak. Sure, I could ask for another, but then then rest of my table would have finished before I received my meal.
I don't mind paying for a quality meal. This however, was not.
The food was great not too much not too little & the taste was perfect I has floweres delivered for a special occasion, the staff to our pic, gave us a copy & everyone signed it. Our menus even had the special occasion written across the top! Desert was great!! Could not have asked for a better fun filled meal!!!
My wife and I were very impressed with our waiter
Jim who served us with a great presence.
His knowledge of the menu and personality
Added to what was a great meal. The food was great
But the entire staff's service made dining at Morton's
A wonderful dining experience. We plan on going back soon.
