While the food remains excellent, the prices are ridiculous, even compared to other steakhouses. And the service, previously very professional, is now rushed and perfunctory. We were ignored for the first half hour after being seated in a room with only 4 occupied tables on a Friday night.
It was many months since we went to Morton's with all of the other competitive steakhouses in the Phila. center city area. That mistake was corrected on Saturday night. The filet's, sides and salads were very good. The service was very good (Thanks Chris). And the celebratory and complementary lemon souffle for two was very good also as was my selfishly and additionally ordered chocolate mouse which was off the charts fantastic. Morton's made our anniversary celebration dinner a very memorable one. See you folks much sooner than later going forward.
Unfortunately, the lobster bisque I ate on Sept. 28, made me sick. It was my birthday, and that night into the next morning I spent in the bathroom.
There was something wrong with the lobster meat. I thought it tasted off, so I did stop eating it, but I guess I ate enough of it to upset my stomach.
I did not notify the waiter, something I always do when there is a problem.
Unfortunately we didn't have the best experience! I guess because we went on restaurant week, we were treated like second class citizens by the waiter. Our potatoes were cold & there was a hair on our table! It's a shame because we always liked Mortons and they used to have exceptional service !
Morton's Steakhouse was a last second pick for my date and I for restaurant week, but I can definitely say that I will be coming back! The service was wonderful right from the check in desk all the way to the end check. Our waitress was kind and very informative about how our meat would be cooked, and she was perfect about keeping our glasses full of wine and water. The 6oz tenderloin was cooked beautifully at a medium rare for the both of us and I seriously wish I knew the recipe for their mashed potatoes! To conclude, our visit was wonderful and I will definitely be adding this restaurant to my Philadelphia rotation.
Unfortunately, Morton's shows it's age. I usually dine at another high-end steakhouse in the city, but having a gift card to Morton's, I was interested to see how it has held up. While the service was excellent, the food was so-so. Although both of our steaks were cooked properly, they did not have the flavor, nor texture that a filet and bone-in ribeye should have. The decor was nice and updated, but there were literally only three other tables with diners at 7:00 PM, which I think inherently says something about this restaurant. I think that with so many options in the city to choose from, Morton's probably sticks around due to business meals and those who are used to the same restaurant from other locales. There are much better steakhouses in Philadelphia, and even my friend asked "how could they still be in business?". Oh, and I find it unacceptable that I could hear the kitchen tenderizing steaks from my table; something that has never happened anywhere else. Next time I receive a gift card, I would probably just use it at the bar.
Our evening was once again fantastic. Starting with the manager, Steve, who is always great to talk to! The food was done to perfection, including the Pittsburgh char on the steak. My wife's favorite part was the carrot cake that can't be beat anywhere. We highly recommend this spot anytime to escape the summer heat. What a special treat the night was!
We always enjoy Morton's. My daughter and I went there because we were out of town and she likes it as a "special dinner.". All was excellent. My steak was a bit overdone so they comp'd my meal (which wasn't necessary but they did it anyway). Drinks were great. Manager and employees top notch. I would definitely go back! Highly recommended.
Went for my daughters high school graduation late in the evening. The servers were fantastic - congratulating her, taking her picture, and giving her her favorite dessert, a souffle, for free - all without anyone at our table asking for any of it. Made it that much more special. Great evening thanks to them.
I would have gave 5 stars but I didn't like the bartender. He barely spoke and kept looking at me. Easy as if I didn't belong. He spoke to everyone else but me.
When I was seated, my waiter was awesome!!!!!!! I would recommend the dining room but not the bar. Horrible experience.
