Morton's The Steakhouse - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
I dined here for CC restaurant Winter 2018. I have not always had the best experience during RW. But I must admit the service received from our waiter (Steve) was great. The host was just as friendly and welcoming. The smell of truffled something hits you when you enter the restaurant. Now on to dinner, the filet was so tender and cooked to perfection, you could have cut it with a butter knife. The sides were nicely portioned to share. The creamed spinach could have used a touch more nutmeg and salt. Overall I would return and recommend Morton's to others.
It was Restaurant week. The waiter didn’t offer the special menu until asked. He was a bit put off - “you beat me to it.” The meal was uneventful with a thin steak. The potatoes were lukewarm and chewy...lyonnaise potatoes. The creme brûlée tasted like it was sitting for sometime. The restaurant was not busy still the service was slow. The hostess was gracious and checked in. Morton’s Atlantic City seems to operate on a higher scale than the Philadelphia location.
Venerable steak house provided excellent and attentive service and the steak was excellent as well. Only minor complaint was that our sides (mash potatoes and mushrooms) lost their heat a little too quickly for our tastes. Both tasted great when they were first served to us but after approximately ten minutes the serving plates for both of these side dishes began to get cold and this took away from the enjoyment and flavor of these sides. Other than that though a great time was had by all.
We had a very nice meal at Morton's. I would say that the people and the service were absolutely outstanding, so much so that I would go back. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Salads were pretty good but not quite what they used to be back in the day. Overall we enjoyed it.
Everything went well at the restaurant or so we thought; this was the first time my partner and I had dined here and will most likely be our last. Before going a friend of mine said make sure you get the lava cake and I was going to order him one as well, problem was no one said order it at the start of the meal, I would think a place known for this would tell you at the beginning of the meal so No lava cake for us! Also After we went out with some friends and we were talking about diner and that's when it happened, they asked what we thought of them bringing out the cut of meat and showing it to us, well that never happened either! Maybe because we went an hour before close they were tiered or something, but to hell with that I could have spent my $250+$100 tip (you know because I thought I was getting good service) somewhere else and I will next time! The two things this steakhouse is known for and we got neither, thanks Morton's!
Excellent meal - all 4 of us enjoyed appetizer, salads and steaks/combo. All 4 meals were exceptional. Waitress was Casey(sp?) - she was excellent and knowledgeable and we also received the gift of her singing “Annie” - which was the show we were heading out to see!!! GREAT experience!
Food was excellent, I had the NY Strip Steak, we sat at the bar, Tomas, was outstanding we had several outstanding drinks he's a real mixologist. The manager checked in to make sure our food was prepared properly, it was a real treat as this is the first time ant the Mortons in Center City Philly. We will definitely return!!!
Apps and sides never fail to deliver but the steak (while temp cooked properly)... failed to deliver on taste... even my 9yr old recognized the lack of seasoning on the steak itself! Would be good to incorporate thyme, rosemary etc in the cooking process.. the lava cake never fails to deliver!! Overall scrumptious and very satisfied.
This was a new job celebration occasion/date so the ambiance was befitting, very cozy and intimate. It took our minds off the cold and windy rain outside that night. Our waiter was menu savy and very attentive as well as the floor manager. Food was excellent! Not your everyday place...definitely one for the books.
While the food remains excellent, the prices are ridiculous, even compared to other steakhouses. And the service, previously very professional, is now rushed and perfunctory. We were ignored for the first half hour after being seated in a room with only 4 occupied tables on a Friday night.
