Morton's The Steakhouse - Palm Desert Ratings and Reviews
We had the filet and lobster special for January. Service was very good. Waiter was engaging, informative and attentive without hovering. Food was great except for the chocolate layer cake. That was dry with “frosting” that was really layers of straight chocolate candy. Beet salad and lobster bisque were excellent and cheesecake dessert was very good too. Dining room was busy but not overly noisy.
This was a special occasion - my son's 21st birthday. Ballardo(server) provided excellent service, but we had to order our dessert souffle at the time we placed our dinner order, which is standard. Problem is, the souffle was early and we had not finished our dinners. Since it was my son's birthday, and he had not ever had a souffle, I did not want to cancel souffle. Therefore my son and I did not get to finish our dinners. Basically ruined a special evening. I have never had that happen before...EVER!
In addition, while it was nice that the restaurant took a photo of our dinner party and provided us a copy, a $350 dinner and they couldn't afford to give us two copies??!! Only my son got a copy.
We probably will not return there. Too many other fine steakhouses out here.
Both of our entrees were inedible. The manager agreed and apologized. Our medium rare steak was "ice" in the middle to the touch, the salmon was still moving. After two tries to fix it, we paid for our salads and left.
It was flat out awful.
The manager suggested that we come back another time -- but since we live in SF and this was Palm Springs, we declined.
Always consistent, we dine here often for their steaks, chopped spinach salads, carrot cake and our server Sage who is attentive to all our needs. With all the choices for steakhouses, its nice to be recognized and feel like an invited guest. This is a restaurant that will always be a favorite on our list.
We were seated at a table that blocked the way to the restroom. Requested to be moved and were finally moved by disgruntled manager. Three other parties were seated there during the evening and then moved. Terrible service—slow, curt, and unresponsive. Drinks 3 for 4 but no responsiveness to the wrong cocktail—or credit. Rack of lamb was served rare and had to be sent back. Slight apology from server but said we shouldn’t expect the consistency Morton’s is known for since it was New Years Eve. No thank you or good bye as we exited restaurant. No manager visited table after rough start. Great valet service.
Morton’s Palm Desert was disappointing. As we waited past our reservation time, the multiple front staff standing around told us they were waiting for a table to be set. They were more attentive to their regulars than us out-of-towner’s, however, and when we walked back multiple tables were open yet they stuck us in an overflow room where the service was slow - no menus when we sat, no water or drink orders, etc all the way through dinner. Food was average - steak was over cooked. So were the steaks at the table behind us.
Great service from Elwood. The food was prepared exactly as ordered and hot upon arrival.
Sides are enough to share. Steaks were very tender. Loved the brussel sprouts, mushrooms, and onion rings. Wonderful cheesecake for dessert. Excellen wine list. Never disappointed at Morton's.
Palm Desert was beautiful , I expected the noise level to be a little louder like the Anaheim location but it was not it was very cozy and the double cut Rib-Eye was fabulous staff was very friendly and professional my reservation was for 430 Christmas day we arrived at 4pm on the dot and was seated right away . The waiter I had she said she was new and it showed she seemed a little intimidated but when I ordered my steak and said medium rare she seemed to loosen up but overall wonderful dining experience
Spent a lot of money expecting an impeccable meal. I wanted Ruth Chris because of previous poor experiences but my lady talked me into this. We both regret it and will not be going back. Poor food flavor, was literally served cold. Waiter was older but seemed inexperienced. To many negative to name. I feel screwed for the $400 I spend for two of us.
It was my first time to Morton's in a very long time. The food was excellent, our waiter was stellar!
Everything was prepared as requested and was delicious, though I think something more could have been done with the grilled shrimp.
I would go back again for sure.
i did not like the pumped in music. it was more disco techie than dinner music, competing with conversation. seeing that we were near Frank Sinatra drive, it seemed odd in a retirement community.
Also, i asked for a beer list 3 times and eventually got a verbal run down which who knows is accurate
We always enjoy dining at Morton’s not so much for the food but the staff is like family everyone from the time you get there you are treated special.
We are very saddened to hear that Josh Soto is leaving Morton’s he is a very big part why we go to Morton’s. He knows so much about wines and has such a great personality he will be greatly missed but we wish him well.
Thank you Josh for making our birthdays and anniversary’s so special.
Very disappointed with the first half of this visit. After being seated, it took a good 10 minutes before anyone at all came to the table, not even to fill water glasses. Ordered the Escargot, and it was so over cooked, we did not eat it. They did take it off the bill. The salad was fair. Fortunately, my Porterhouse was fabulous and the cook perfect.
The evening was perfect as far as the food being unbelievably amazing. We were celebrating our anniversary and a very large party came in and every one took notice. There was a few large groups so the dining was very noisy and loud conversations. I'm glad we got in there earlier so that we could talk among ourselves without shouting at each to speak over the noise level. They should have bigger booths with some kind of noise insulation. Our server was very pleasant and nice to talk to, and our food was done to perfection.
