Nice birthday dinner. The steaks are wet aged which is good and not so good. They are tender but have no bite. There are other steak places just as good. I won’t rush back
Pricing at this restaurant is not worth it. A desert of vanilla ice cream with raspberries and Chambord cost $35 with tax and tip. Restaurant is done in black and very dark and uninviting.
This particular Mortons has THE best service . They treat you like it's their home you are dining in. Manager Noelani has kept the integrity of this restaurant on point after the previous manger left. The consistency of this place is amazing you will not get a better prepared steak in the Coachella valley
Morton's though a national chain is the perfect local steakhouse that gets to know it's local clientele and treat them like long time friends. Great food with terrific service. My favorite spot for a good ribeye and martini!!! Thank you Morton's for making me feel like extended family.
Great and thanks
In my reservation I noted bar, for we were going for happy hour. Arrived and were told we do not take happy hour reservations, and I just saw your request. Reservation was made one week prior. Wait staff were curt, "threw" beer bottle down when I asked if I could pour. Food was
just okay and minimal in size even for happy hour. Noise level was such you could not talk across the table.
As always, everything was exceptional. We save Morton’s for a special treat for us. The servers are very knowledgeable and the food is served exactly as ordered.
Birthday celebration. Booth request was honored and while we could not have Elwood as our server (he was managing that evening) he did come by to say hello. Our server Kat was, as Elwood told us she would be, outstanding. Very attentive.
Average experience and server was not on top of his game.
We dined early (5:15) on the last day of our great vacation with son and his family including grandchildren ages 10 and 14. Most impressive was the highly professional and personalized service by David and others on the team. Usually I feel “waited on” and rarely do I feel truly served these days. Service was attentive, synchronized and personal. My daughter in law requested shrimp scampi with broccoli rather than pasta...”no problem.” We asked for Brussel sprouts without bacon...”no problem.” My granddaughter and I split the 12 ounce steak and wanted it plated separately..”no problem.” Wow all the way.
The meal itself was perfection. Most of us had steak which was the best ever. My granddaughter who had not had a Morton’s steak before said “Daddy why is the steak so squishy?” He explained it was tender, not tough. She gobbled every bite. Hubby had the seafood plate and every selection was outstanding. We ordered mashed potatoes, a baked potato (huge) and Brussel sprouts, all to share. Not a morsel was left by the end of the meal. Finally, we ordered a chocolate lava dessert to share. My granddaughter wailed “but I only got one bite!!” Guess she wanted more.
Price tag was high but worth every penny for a special occasion. The only wish I had was that the acoustics were a bit better. It became rather noisy and hard to hear our conversation once the restaurant filled up.
On the whole, I give Morton’s an A+. Wish I had one near my home in Sarasota FL. Thank you!!
We've been here before but this time we had 8 people in our group to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary. We were put into a private room and it was AWESOME !!! First of all, it was much quieter in the back room, but we also had a toddler with us and he was able to move around without disturbing other guests. The food was unbelievably delicious !!! Besides ordering our main entre, we all ordered different side dishes that we were able to all share a little bit of as well as some salads were shared. Our server was very nice and entertaining as well and HIS helper was a little hard to understand his accent but we asked him to speak slower and then all was good. It was THE BEST TIME we've had here and all our other times have been great too !!! I will definetely tell our friends about it and I WILL be back again !!!
The perfect venue for an enjoyable business dinner.
There for a 50th birthday celebration. Very attentive waiter Flavio made sure our drinks were always filled and gave us his well informed opinion about dishes. Daughters steak was delicious 6oz filet, although we asked for it butterflied and they forgot. Husband has the peppercorn NY strip which was also great. Baked potato was a little mushy, felt like it had been sitting for awhile. Topped off with an amazing brownie sundae. It’s not cheap so make sure you’re hungry when you come to Morton’s.
Very slow service, mediocre food- disappointing overall
Birthday for my wife
We all thought the food was great. We love the beefsteak tomato and blue cheese salad. The blue cheese is the best I have ever had. We really enjoy our visits to Mortons and always recommend it to our friends.
When we arrived the young lady at the desk informed us we didn’t have a reservation. In fact we did through open table. We spent some time talking to her and she abruptly showed to a booth. We felt as though we lied or cheated our way in to Morton’s.
The experience was saved by our waiter David. His perfect service saved the day.
Food was delicious!
The steak was great - tender and done to perfection. The Caesar salad was drenched in dressing, the horseradish mashed potatoes weren’t good - they had way too much horseradish in them- but to be fair they did not charge us for the potatoes. The chocolate soufflé was not good either.
Moderate food quality at best and
Another great meal at Mortons! The dinner was made better by our waiter Flavio. He was extremely helpful and made sure we had an excellent experience. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were plated in their own juicy goodness. A couple of guests had the shrimp and scallops and really enjoyed them. I recommend the Au gratin twice baked potatoes! Desserts were awesome, especially the carrot cake and the bread pudding. Really enjoyable experience.
We were on vacation at Palm Desert. Morton’s was a perfect night out!
We vacation in Palm Desert for 2 weeks every year and always start off our daily dinners at Morgan's. The ambiance is very nice, the food is consistently excellent, the martinis are a decent size, the wine list is good, and the service is always terrific.
La carne estaba deliciosa y las botanas también. Muy bien servicio tanto del bar como del restaurant
Eric took great care of us all during our meal. Will request his table next time we dine at Morton’s.
There is zero excuse for the steak that was served us, nor for the response of the manager. This steakhouse routinely charges $50+ for just a steak, so the one thing it should be able to make is steak. Guess again.
My husband ordered a filet, medium-well. He was served a piece of meat that appeared to be fully cooked but the entire piece of meat was colder than room temperature (and, no, it wasn't even room or resting temperature). How does that happen? The only logical explanation we can figure is that the meat had been pre-cooked, refrigerated, and then dumped on a plate, and served. When we asked for it to be fixed, our plates were whisked away and then the same pieces of meat on the same plates were quickly returned in a few, short minutes, certainly not long enough to cook anything properly. (My rib-eye was by then swimming in a huge puddle of very unappetizing grease; apparently no one could bother to re-plate). The manager seemed strangely unapologetic. He said that that meal should never have been served, but at first tried to tell us that it must have been the temperature we requested. Huh? By that time the meal was clearly unacceptable and we decided to leave. He offered us a free dessert and complained we weren't letting them prepare a whole new meal. Well, at that point, they'd already had two chances and couldn't deliver! The manager made us pay for two alcoholic beverages and two non-alcoholic beverages, and comped us on the little food we had had up until then. Any other restaurant would have comped the whole amount, as a small gesture toward ruining what should have been a special meal.
We went there for our 25th wedding anniversary and the service was excellent from the greeting by the hostess and throughout the entire visit. Our server Elwood was very attentive and informative. Overall a wonderful experience.
We enjoyed Morton’s but believe $48 for a 6 oz steak ala cart is over priced
Very good but not great. $90 a person...no cocktails. 8 oz. filet-56$---on the low side of 8 oz...cooked well and flavorful tho. Same with 6 oz at $52
$15 for a small bowl of mediocre onion soup. $6 for a small dish of blue cheese butter. Sides are 15$ OUCH!!!
Service not good. Hispanic server who was in training. When he took our order he did not ask us if we wanted salads or sides. Then he had to go on break and from there service disappeared. Don't start server and then send him on break during meal!!!
Steak houses in general are expensive all over. They need to reinvent themselves in some way or a dying breed. Why do they need to charge $15 for a dish of mashed potatoes that cost them less than a $1 Rethink the concept. I think you will bring more people in. People feel abused by the price of sides.
Additionally, at a $15% gratuity. the amounts to around $40. While at Denny's,, breakfast costs $20 and with a 15% gratuity you pay $3--and sometimes for better service. (note--gratuity is an option and is not included--just to be clear)
We would like to thank Roque, Noelani, Eric and the entire staff for making this the best steakhouse in the desert
Always good at Morton’s. Very nice atmosphere for business meetings. Can get a little noisy at times. It seems a bit expensive but it is the best steakhouse in the Valley. Little disappointed that manager did not gone by the table and as members of Morton’s VIP used to receive drinks after dinner.
Best dinner ever! Steak, scallops and shrimp were delicious! Lava cake could have been more runny in the center. Going there for a value does not apply.
My husband and I enjoy a good steakhouse and heard of Morton’s. We finally tried it this past week while on vacation in Palm Desert. Overall we liked it. I was concerned about this location based on some reviews. We arrived a little early expecting a drink at the bar. The bar was packed due to happy hour specials. We were seated at our table and ordered a drinks. Our servers were ready to take our order but we tapped the brakes saying we want to enjoy a drink first. We later ordered a wedge salad and the bone in filet and a bottom wine. Salad was good. Filet was cooked to perfection at medium plus. We shared the filet partly because of the over indulgence we did on vacation thus far. We didn’t get any sides. I think we partly shared the entree because the pricing of the steaks is skewed towards the high end. We couldn’t help ourselves and ordered a sundae. Yum. Service was attentive. Morton’s is a chain and I’m doubtful we will return as 1) no location near us, 2) if traveling we likely would try somewhere else and 3) prefer other chain steakhouse overall. Please note we purchased a $100 bottle of wine, a beer, and a glass of champagne...we aren’t afraid to spend money it just didn’t seem like anything too special or unique to spend on.
Our favorite steakhouse in the Coachella Valley. Not only is the food amazing, and the drinks fabulous, but you are always treated like family, even when the place is packed, which is very often. This is a high energy, happening restaurant, good for family, friends, special occasions and date nights. While Morton's is famous for their prime steaks, fresh seafood and opulent souffles, they also have a revolving list of special seasonal appetizers and entrees as well. On this occasion my wife and I split a Morton's salad (much like a Caesar's salad on steroids) with extra anchovies, while munching on Morton's famous freshly baked bread and creamy butter. We then shared an 8 oz. lobster tail, and the highly recommended Cajun Rib Eye, a huge succulent prime steak that has been marinated to be even more flavorful, as well as the seasonal side dish of truffled mashed cauliflower (lobster mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and crispy onion rings are other favorites of ours). We were stuffed, so we reluctantly passed on dessert - try to save room if you can - they will pack leftovers for you to go if you ask. At least have an after dinner drink as we did if you are too full for dessert. What a meal!
Rocky are server was fantastic!
Eric runs a great restaurant. Amazing experience.
Steak houses have gotten very expensive. There was nothing on the menu less expensive than $50. That said, once you got over the price, the service and food was amazing. We took our 9 and 12 year olds and the staff was great with them. The three of us split the porterhouse for 2 and it was a perfect amount of food
Rocky and David make for a great time with great service and food
Food, service and ambiance were excellent. My only complaint is that the lobster bisque was too watery and the sauce for the crab cake was too rich and needed more lemon to add dimension. The steak and potato were exceptional and so was desert. We appreciate the beautiful picture that was taken of, and printed for, us that evening. We will definitely be back!!
We were visiting Palm Desert for our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful meal, with fabulous food and wonderful service in a lovely atmosphere. We hope to make our trip to Palm Desert an annual event, and will definitely include a visit to Morton's The Steakhouse in our plans!
I have been to Morton’s Palm Desert many times. Unfortunately, this time the food was not hitting on all cyclers. Several dishes were not very warm, but others fine. Overall, I still enjoy dinning at Morton’s Palm Desert.
