Morton's The Steakhouse - Northbrook Ratings and Reviews
It was a Sunday night when we dined there -the restaurant was very near empty yet in spite of this our steak was not prepared correctly and while our server Eric was very nice about it and accommodating perhaps due to our obvious frustration the restaurant could have given us A glass of wine or dessert or something of that nature just to apologize for the situation. Just saying that small token would’ve gone a long way
This Morton's location offers a huge selection of steaks, chops, chicken and seafood. All prepared with flare. We had the filet mignon, the porterhouse and the veal chop with sides of creamed corn and potatoes lyonnaise. Started with chopped salad and Morton's salad. Finished with NY cheese cake and chocolate mousse. All wonderful! Great for a special occasion.
Service was excellent but food was not. They were not very busy so it was hard to understand. Many mishaps- 3 of the four entrees (2steak/one lobster) not cooked properly, sides all with bacon and extremely salty to all of us. (augratin, mushroom and spinach and brussel sprouts). Even one of the salads was not done properly and had to be remade. At this price-point I would have expected better. This is the second trip where we had an issue, the last one was the service. Prior to the last two visits, we have enjoyed our meals here very much and without any issues. They did end up comping two of the meals which was nice, but it would have been nicer if the meals were cooked properly.
We have been to other Morton’s locations for Christmas dinner and this location felt a little more casual than others. The food was decent but not great. Service was good but not outstanding (servers were attentive but sloppy - overflowing water refills, etc.). We felt like this location is like a “wannabe” high end steakhouse. Good effort, but just “not quite” in so many ways.
We had a nice meal and enjoyed our dinner! Great server and service and really nice people, that welcomed you. Valet was nice and overall a great Northshore steak house.
I did notice it just needed perhaps the lights dimmed since it showed all the spots and dirt on the carpeting, understanding it is winter of course and so much traffic. Comfy chairs and very good food. This will be our new place, without the city traffic.
I love Morton's and was looking forward to Christmas Eve dinner as an elevated experience as food and service are always outstanding. But I felt the experience lacked a little love that night due to the business of the night. I kind of felt rushed like they were just waiting to turn the table - that's what I expect at Chili's, not Morton's. I get the holidays are busy but people are picking a place like Morton's for a reason, and it's not to be rushed out the door.
In October 2016 my then fiance and I had a celebratory dinner at Morton's upon our engagement. They made it such a special evening, we decided to return right after our wedding.
My new husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner- he had filet and I had crab cakes. Again they treated us like VIPs and we will return again for future celebrations. Although we live in the Bentonville, AR area, we will make a point of returning to Chicago and the Northbrook, IL Morton's many times
As a higher-end (albeit chain) steakhouse, you expect a good steak well-prepared. They deliver. But the service goes one step further. Many servers have been there for quite some time and they will go out of their way to help with recommendations (if asked) based on personal experience.
We were a group of 8. Service was great. The celebratory touches for our anniversary celebration were fabulous (photo, dessert, menu-heading). The noise level was high. I thought the food was just average. Fries and brussel sprouts were mediocre. Other steak houses have much better recipes. My steak, though very flavorful, was not very tender. Hash browns - excellent. Dessert - excellent.
All in all we had a positive experience. The food was pricey but wonderful. The ambiance was great. The service was good in that the server was very attentive. The one “fly in the ointment” was that our server knew that one member of our party really liked a particular dessert. At the end of the evening, she came out with a bag with a great show of secrecy and slipped it to him. She told him not to tell where he got it. We thought she had “given” him an extra dessert since she had told us earlier that it wasn’t being ordered much that night. It turned out that it WAS an extra dessert but we were CHARGED for it and we never requested it. We were unpleasantly surprised but the guest didn’t want to make an issue of it at the time. It did spoil an otherwise positive experience.
