As a higher-end (albeit chain) steakhouse, you expect a good steak well-prepared. They deliver. But the service goes one step further. Many servers have been there for quite some time and they will go out of their way to help with recommendations (if asked) based on personal experience.
We were a group of 8. Service was great. The celebratory touches for our anniversary celebration were fabulous (photo, dessert, menu-heading). The noise level was high. I thought the food was just average. Fries and brussel sprouts were mediocre. Other steak houses have much better recipes. My steak, though very flavorful, was not very tender. Hash browns - excellent. Dessert - excellent.
All in all we had a positive experience. The food was pricey but wonderful. The ambiance was great. The service was good in that the server was very attentive. The one “fly in the ointment” was that our server knew that one member of our party really liked a particular dessert. At the end of the evening, she came out with a bag with a great show of secrecy and slipped it to him. She told him not to tell where he got it. We thought she had “given” him an extra dessert since she had told us earlier that it wasn’t being ordered much that night. It turned out that it WAS an extra dessert but we were CHARGED for it and we never requested it. We were unpleasantly surprised but the guest didn’t want to make an issue of it at the time. It did spoil an otherwise positive experience.
My mother took us here for my birthday. Food was perfect as usual as was the service. Particularly attentive to my 89 year old mother, which I greatly appreciate. They know how to select and prepare a steak. Pricey, but once or twice a year we’ll bite the tender bullet.
Very disappointed. First try for Morton's . Overpriced slab on a plate. Insanely priced cayenne-heavy lobster bisque. Average potatoes for $13. Meat not just seared but charred. Sat us at the worst table to stare at the bar for our meal. We will not go to a Mortons again. Anywhere. We were vacationing here and hoped for a nice meal to linger and chat. The server was about up selling and turnaround. Over $200 without a bottle of wine or dessert is crazy. Perhaps they think that people over a certain age no longer care about insulting seating or how they spend their money. Wrong! And we belong to Landry's Select Club.
We held a business dinner here and had a lovely round table for easy flow of conversation. Dinner selection was ample for our party. Server was attentive and described several selections in detail. Our group had planned to order a pre-fixe menu but once the server described other menu selections all ordered from the menu. My recommendation is the Cajun ribeye. Prepared to perfection for me. The sides were OK just standard for my preference. Our party had cocktails and wine and martini's were served icy cold. Overall, I'll plan other business dinners here for the steaks and cocktails.
The waiter left after greeting us without taking a drink order and didn't return for 20 minutes. Then he didn't tell us about the seasonal menu. Cleared wine glasses without asking about drink order. Didn't return to table had to ask another waitress for additional order. The steak came out rare when it was supposed to be medium medium rare. Again no waiter so had to eat blood red meat. When Birthday person was in bathroom and argued with us about whether or not we ordered a second desert. Forgot to take Birthday picture. The final straw was when he couldn't find my Landry's membership and told me the only person with my last name was in Texas. Didn't ask for alternative phone number, just keep disappearing. My husband, the birthday person, wouldn't let me complain because he didn't want his birthday ruined.
As we were sitting waiting initially, the manager was chatting with other guests two booths down and never checked on us.
Consistently excellent steakhouse. I think it is the best steakhouse in the northern suburbs. The seafood is also quite good. On this occasion, we had cocktails, a bacon-wrapped scallop appetizer, and salads made to order. I had a perfectly grilled bone-in ribeye and my wife had a seafood combo of salmon and shrimp. Sides of creamed spinach and horseradish mashed potatoes. We finished it off with a chocolate lava cake. Everything was excellent, including service. I definitely recommend for special occasions.
