Morton's The Steakhouse - Nashville Ratings and Reviews
Morton’s is always a treat and this visit was no exception. We took our 8 year old daughter for the first time after she performed in the Nutcracker and the staff made her feel so special. It was the perfect first fine dining outing. Bacon steak as an appetizer was a delicious addition to the menu.
Pros: Excellent food
Reservations were prompt and special requests for a party of four were honored exactly as requested.
Extremely noisy making conversation difficult.
You are in Nashville so motorcycle T-shirts, cowboy and baseball hats, and hoodies are the norm.
Music was totally inappropriate for anyone other than a top 40s crowd .
Server was very inexperienced and did not know how to pace a meal.
Extremely extremely expensive for the quality of service and the meal. For a $900 meal I expected more.
When you want a top notch steak and a fantastic dining experience, Morton's will fit the bill! Awesome steaks, sides, appetizers, desserts and drinks; including a very large wine menu, will leave you completely satisfied! When you go here, go all out and enjoy the ride!!
Absolutely fantastic meal! As we were being seated we were asked if we would be attending any event after diner. We told him we were going to a concert after dinner, he informed our server and she said she would make sure we received our meals in a timely manner.
From the moment we walked in the door our experience started. It was all a memorable experience from the personalized menu to the complimentary prosecco to toast or anniversary. The food was phenomenal and or server was engaging. Will definitely come again.
We decided to try Morton's before a concert, mainly because we had a gift card to use. They have valet car service with was very friendly and efficient.
The ambiance in Morton's is excellent. An upscale art deco feel with beautiful dark leather seats and wonderful lighting. Service from Joseph was prompt and very courteous. When I asked for an Australian Pino Noir, he brought two, one of which was a great value, but was from New Zealand, also a great Pino country.
The prosciutto wrapped mozzarella was very good as an appetizer. For our main courses, my wife had the mixed grill and I had the bone in ribeye. The mixed grill was good, with the bacon wrapped scallops being the star. My ribeye came overdone medium rare, but was quickly replaced. Unfortunately, the second was underdone, almost rare, which is normally fine for me. The problem is the steak was very fatty and gristly, and did not have the rich flavor I expected at $61.
We had ordered a soufflé for dessert, but when it was time for it to come, we were informed that it fell. We could wait for another or have another dessert. The experience thus far had not been great so we decided to pass on dessert. My wife was especially disappointed and felt things could have been done better.
Overall, Morton's is good, but very expensive.
I had back to back business dinners (two nights in a row) with one small group and one larger group. The atmosphere and seating is great for any size occasion. Cheryl was perfect. I lucked into having her as a server the first night, and then requested her the second night.
Selected Morton's over the others due to someone's recommendation. The worst anniversary dinner ever. Manager relocated a couple that was obnoxious, loud and rude from across the dining room next to our table. When I approached management regarding how disruptive the couple was to our evening she appeared more interested in tending to them rather than our anniversary dinner. The couple was so loud and rude we ended up leaving halfway through our in meal. We will not return!
Thank you Morton's Steakhouse for making this anniversary meal one to remember and for all the wrong reasons.
Morton's is a throwback to the upscale steak houses of many years ago. Everything is a la carte, and specially prepared. It's not a restaurant that one goes to every week. Rather, it should be frequented for special occasions since the prices are expensive. However, the steaks, lamb, and crab cakes were outstanding for the 8 of us celebrating the birthday of a family member. I had the rack of lamb, and frankly it was the best rack I have ever had. It was prepared "medium", and it was spot on. All of the individuals who had steaks (strips, ribeyes, and a filet) said their steaks were also spot on and delicious. I cannot comment on the crab cake since the one who had them did not provide me with feedback. However, she did eat them. Each of the various sides were prepared to order, and were also delicious. I had samples of each, and the only item that I would not order are the french fries seasoned with truffle oil. Truffle oil can be overpowering, and in this case it was. Just not my thing. Service bordered on exceptional. The service staff was there when needed. If you have a special occasion that needs that "extra" something, go to Morton's The Steak House. You will not be disappointed. Just be prepared to spend some money.
I was truly disappointed by our last experience at Mortons. My girlfriend and I have always had such great experiences there- but I honestly don't know if we'll ever go back.
We left with a $330 bill plus tip ($400)- and I can't say I would have been happy paying $100 for the quality of food we had.
That's not to say all was bad. Here is what we got and how we felt about it:
- Crabcake - Very good
- Oysters Rockefeller - Burned / Sent back and served a second time and they were even worse. Undercooked- Tasted like O Charley's cheese soup on a shell. Oysters were tiny, no flavor. Sand in the oyster.
- Crab Bisque- Best thing we had all night. Generous portion of crab meat. Rich and creamy broth. Very delicious.
