Morton's The Steakhouse - Miami (Downtown) Ratings and Reviews
Mortons has never been my favorite steakhouse chain. The steaks are good but overpriced. We got the Porterhouse ($60) and the filet half was undercooked (rare vs. medium rare) and there was too much gristle when cutting close to the bone. I also had the Lobster Bisque which was just OK.
My biggest issue was the wine list. The wine is waayyy over priced. A bottle of Catena Malbec which sells in the $20 - $28 range in the stores was $115! That's just not right.
Why did I go back? I received a $100 gift card for my birthday--which paid for our $88 bottle of wine.
On the bright side, our waitress Liliana was great.
First time ever doing Miami spice at Morton's , even tho the server was great he failed to explain the menu to us and gave us the upgraded Miami spice menu .. def felt like we were tricked into spending more money ... the menu I saw online wasn't the one we received. food was beyond but I will def not go back.
Fish was dry and over cooked! $43 for a chicken Caesar salad was overpriced, chicken comes at an additional cost which is expected but come on $29 for a few pieces of grilled chicken?
Ambiance at the Brickell Miami location was underwhelming. Probably a good place for business lunches but don't recommend for a special occasion. Very disappointed.
We used to eat at Mortons at other locations (Washington, DC and NYC) before retiring and moving to West coast of FL. Always thought it was a bit better than Ruth's Chris. While the steak at the Miami Mortons was very good, the service was spotty and the ambiance was not the best (basement location and a bit worn and plain).
This place was the best at one time, we would drive all the way from Naples, get a hotel just to go to this location. Very private and quiet, food was absolutely the best but then something happened. This was the 2nd time in a row that the food was no where near what is was years ago. The filet was under cooked and tough, the lobster was small, the famous Morton's Molten cake was dry, flavorless and lacked the "molten" part of the cake. I don't know if they are buying cheaper meat or maybe hired a new chef. There was an elderly gentleman sitting next to us that obviously goes to this location very often because the staff all knew him, he started to complain about the steak saying it was tough and he was unsatisfied with the quality. I spoke off to the side with the manager and expressed the same sentiment. Something went downhill at this location and unfortunately that was probably the last time we will go there. It was a Saturday night and there were maybe 8 tables at 9:00PM, even the bar was empty. The cost for 2 of us without alcohol was $300.00, I don't mind spending the money but when the salad is the best part of the meal something is wrong. If you are visiting the area try the North Miami location it may be better but I would take a pass on this location.
Their was 5 of us and most order some of the less expensive food. The bill was still over $700 and it was just OK. The sever was horrible. Several times we were looking for him. On a refill of white wine, he brought red wine. Other times a couple of the side dishes were maybe forgotten and showed up late.
Everyone nice as usual. Server forgot my hash brown and left my wine glass empty for 9+ minutes, not good. Gave me the hash to take home no charge, but too late.
Last visit the server pushed the king crab legs, frankly, had been frozen too long and tasted like it.
If you are spending 50-60 dollars for a steak you are far better off at capital grill
there are also less expensive choices that are far better meals, paying 13 dollars for a side of onion rings???? or for mash potatoes? GTF out
I would recomment Lo de Lea steakhouse, graziannos at brickell, baires grill brickell
I was disappointed about the service. I am from Boston looking to celebrate a birthday of a dear friend before we went on a well deserved cruise. I paid over $300 and no one in the dining area and we had to wait for service. I was just so disappointed that I paid so much for an experience that rated no more than a LongHorn Steakhouse. And the lobster tails which cost a fortune 2/$98.00 was not tasty and rather tough and overcooked. I complained in private to the hostess but she did nothing to ease my distraught. I cannot recommend this chain restaurant to anyone.
food was little cold and size of the lobster tail was incredibly small for what your paying and dont expect that from a upscale restaurant very bad experience for my wife birthday i though it was just the coral gables location but also the miami location. Mortons is not what it just to be anymore
I guess this restaurant was/is built on the name alone. In my opinion they should probably relocate (only the hard working staff members) to one of the other two locations (Coral Gables or Miami Beach), and just shut this location down.
We decided to have dinner here for Miami Spice. I had to "Specifically Ask For The MS Menu" like it was a secret password. The waiter thought it would be fair for my husband and I to share a side item although the MS menu includes for EACH person a starter, entree, side, and desert.
The service wasn't all that great and the food was just OK (I didn't come close to finishing my meal). Our waiter continued to make a mess on our table while refiling drinks. I had to repeat myself as a reminder to bring a glass of water.
I don't think I would ever visit this Mortons Steakhouse again. What a shame how elegant the name, but AppleBees quality.
