Morton's The Steakhouse - Los Angeles Ratings and Reviews
I love coming here for dinner and special occasions!
My bridesmaids and I had dinner here to kick off my bachelorette party and we all loved it! Food and service were amazing and we all received a group photo of us that the hostess was kind enough to take for us. Will definitely come back soon!
I enjoyed the experience at Morton's Steakhouse. My steak seemed more medium than medium rare as I prefer it. Service seemed a bit rushed but overall good. For dessert I decided to try the chocolate mousse but I think it was Jello chocolate pudding. I've made chocolate mousse myself and the consistency is lighter. Did I die and go to Heaven? No. Would I go back soon? Probably not. In the far future? Yes.
My husband had the filet mignon, he didn't enjoy the filet, there was no flavor. We did enjoy the side dishes. The cream spinach was very tasty. The mashed potatoes were delicious. I had the salmon which was ok. We would try again but just order different items. I've heard great things about the Ribeye steak.
Dined at Morton's for lunch during dineL.A. I had the ribeye and my wife had the shrimp scampi. They had some nice options so it was a good value. Don't really like a thin ribeye and would never order it again but it was cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed the shrimp scampi...especially the pasta. It was pretty crowded at lunch so the noise level was high. Our waitress Laura was terrific. She took the time to go over the menu and was quite attentive in spite of being busy. The one criticism I have is about the maître de or manager. Didn't say anything when he seated us...not a smile, or "enjoy your meal" and did not check with us at any time to see if everything was OK. Even at casual family restaurants the managers/maître des are generally pleasant. At a fine dining restaurant like Morton's in downtown L.A. I would expect much better service from the maître de. Very disappointed particularly when I observed him being quite attentive and engaged with another couple.
I am sad to say I was very disappointed with this visit. I have been here many times and have walked away happy each time but this time was different. Our server was pleasant but very slow. We got water and waited 10 minutes for the bread. It took another 10 minutes to get our order in which was beef tacos, a baked potato and Brussels sprouts. We waited 45 minutes before anyone even came and asked us if we wanted more water. Then we were told a private party had backed up the kitchen and our order was being prepared now. So it took over an hour to get a baked potato, Brussels sprouts and the lunch special. No apologies given. I wasn't expecting a quick lunch. I just didn't expect subpar service, excuses and to feel like my patronage didn't matter.
We had reservations at 7:30 and were seated right away. But after that everything took SO long. The waters, the menus, the food, the check, I could go on. The whole dining experience was a little more than 2 hours long. But more than half of it was sitting and waiting. For what we were paying I expected more. We ordered the filet mignon and the prime ribeye with fries, au gratin, and Brussels sprouts. The food itself was not bad but we were so hungry we ended up filling up on the bread at the table.
Overall, I would not come back here and will be going to other steak houses.
The appetizers and sides were nothing fantastic. We had the bacon wrapped scallops, big crab cake, lobster bisque, and asparagus... they were all, meh. I felt i made a mistake choosing Mortons, and after all of the raving rwviews.
The steak was amazingly cooked, and taste very good. It redeemed tblhe evening.
Servers were very nice.
Maybe it was different because it was Christmas Eve, but I've heard so much about how great this place is... Bad 1st impression. Messed up order 3 times. 3 apologies about forgetting things and items taken off bill at end. But bill was still greatly higher than the worth compared to many other fine dining experiences. Drinks were good, maybe should have chosen from the extensive wine list. This place has got to be better on another visit, I'm sure of it.
The dining experience was great overall. Our server, Victor, was well-versed with Morton’s menu and made fabulous recommendations. The restaurant lighting was a bit on the dim side though but that did not prevent my family and I from enjoying the evening celebrating my son’s 11th birthday.
Service and food are always great, but the noise level is always annoying. I would not call it 'energetic' as one of the options you gave above. It is very noisy and hard to hear your own conversation. That would be my only negative comment. You need to do some soundproofing.
