Hosted my friend to lunch celebrating her 10th "work-anniversary " Ordered the Beet and Goat Cheese salad and added grilled Shrimp. Wow, that was wonderful!! So sorry I didn't take a picture, because it was both pleasing to the eye as well as the palate. My friend ordered the short rib tacos and was equally impressed.
Waiter forgot to bring out truffle sauce. Billed us then when asked for item to be removed they wouldn’t be able to get it done without charging us twice. Complimentary drink was offered but by then we had had too much time waiting for each phase. Of the dining experience and just wanted to leave
Service tends to be slow and deliberate. Waitress tried to 'up sell' everything to an obvious length asking the guests to try this and that without regard to whom was hosting the table. Steaks were an uneven presentation, one guest had overcooked meat, another had a tough and chewy slab, while a third guest found the steak extremely fatty. Sides ranged from good to mushy and hospital-like. The 'lobster mashed potatoes had no more than two small chunks of lobster in them. Wine was so under-poured that we inquired whether we were getting a tasting serving as opposed to a full glass. Ultimately, it was an uneven experience for my guests and considering the extremely hefty tab, one would have expected the oysters on the half-shell to be better cleaned and less sandy. As LA has many more exciting steakhouses, many of which offer better quality and more honest drink pours, other options should be explored.
I had the ribeye steak with mashed potatoes which tasted great. My coworkers had the same except they ordered the salad and I opted for the lobster bisque. That was a mistake, I've been paying for it for the last 2 days. It tasted funny but still ate it thinking it was just me. Ive been experiencing some real stomach pains and shivers & the runs. I was really excited to try Morton's but i regret it dearly.
We went to Morton's for our traditional "victory steak" after a USC game. The service was excellent. The place was buzzing and the food was excellent. The manager was fantastic as she came around and made sure we were well taken care of and also made some suggestions. She really knew her wine for making suggestions. The current seasonal menu features a favorite of mine, the "bacon steak". Not sure why bacon is seasonal, but it's on the menu now. Kind of reminds me of the Peter Luger bacon appetizer, but Morton's adds maple syrup and it is a bit peppery.
We had birthday celebration dinner for my oldest son who turned 18. Our food was great ; steaks were cooked perfectly and delicious. My husband and I shared the asparagus and baked potato which was also tasty. I especially loved my potato since it was loaded with all the fixings. The portions are big which is great for sharing because the potato is massive! We ate only about 1/3 of it so I was super excited to have it with my leftover Cajun ribeye. I clearly said to pack it all up to go and it was all taken away and brought back to me in a large bag. I didn't check it then because I thought everything was in there. Sadly, the next day my baked potato was NOT in the bag! I was pretty upset about it since I was really really looking forward to eating it then finding out my $13 baked potato that I had 2/3's left was not there. I don't know how it happened since we brought everything else home.
My trainer and I were seated at a table for lunch. This was our first time dining at Morton's. I selected this restaurant due to locality for both myself coming from Rosewood and my trainer coming from Pasadena. I saw on dine LA a 3 course lunch special for $25.00. On the menu it offered a nice variety of steaks. I printed the menu and my reservation only to find out that it had expired. I mentioned to our server how disappointed we both were and it was false advertisement and had no expiration date on it. We both requested to speak to a manager. Mr. Gary, General Manager came over to our table and introduced himself. I kindly explained the situation and showed him my printed copies of the lunch special. He said unfortunately that special ended two weeks ago. He then showed us a couple of current specials that were offered. Mr. Gary said that he did not want us to be unhappy so he offered the current lunch special and gave us a discount. We really appreciated the great customer service and showing good business practices towards us. Upon leaving Mr. Gary approached us shook hands and asked if everything was okay. We Thanked him again and left the restaurant. I must add that the meal was so delicious, server was great and Morton's is a lovely place to dine. Thank you
We went on a Friday evening at 9pm thinking that it wouldn't be too busy, but the dining room was still pretty full. The problem was that there only seemed to be 2 or 3 servers working the entire room, and though they were moving as quickly as they could, we had to wait quite a while before our order was taken. This also effected our drink refills and then having the check taken care of after our meal. I don't blame the server one bit. She was awesome, though I would say a tiny bit over the top with her friendliness (it was a bit too much for us, as we were just looking for a low key, relaxing evening). She did mention a couple times that she asked certain things to be taken care of for us by her support staff, so I believe that might be in part where the problem was. As far as the food, my boyfriend always gets the bone-in rib-eye from any steakhouse we visit, and he wasn't too impressed with this one. I usually love the Peppered strip steak, but there was something slightly off about this one (sorry, can't quite put my finger on it, but something to do with the overall flavor). The matchstick fries were absolutely delicious.
The atmosphere is lovely. The service was experienced and very good. The food lacked flavor. Totally understated seasoning. My rib eye steak was presented with a dollop garlic butter on top. The meat was not hot enough to melt the butter! The mashed potatoes had lumps. Come on chefs, ever heard of a ricer or food mill???!!!
I will NOT be going back anytime soon. $45 wasted today!!
Food was amazing, everything we ate tasted like heaven and everyone was super nice! My only complain would be that our waiter turned a little less nicer when we mentioned we were there for the dineLA prix fix menu, but he was never rude or anything just less friendlier. Overall, great experience!!
This location of Morton's is always hit or miss. There are now many other steakhouses in downtown (Nick & Stef's, La Boucherie, etc.), and this place offer average steak (not properly aged) that you can see the chefs getting steaks out of plastic pouches. Having said all these, this time, my steak was very good (unlike my past visits).
The food was delicious as always. The summer menu was an excellent value. The hostess, Kiera, was very nice and congratulated my wife and me on our anniversary. Our server, Monica, was friendly, knew the menu and paced the meal perfectly. We will ask for her again. An overall enjoyable and pleasant lunch.
Sadly my experience at this Morton's location was not great. I was not greeted by the host, rather I was coldly taken to my table and the DineLA menu was not handed to me. I also checked in with my reservation and he did not check me in. Then I sat there for maybe 10 minutes with no service or water. I got up and asked for a DineLA menu and a waiter. We were greeted by Ckay who took good care from then till the end of our meal. There was a screaming infant for the other half if our dining experience. The food was very good, I would have liked more salad options. A customers first impressions are how they are greeted and then again by the waiter. This was not a great dining experience for what is known as fine dining.
The prices on the Dine in LA menu weren't honored. Even though I showed the online menu to the manager, she would not give me the price. I ended up paying regular price for my steak and salad. I was very disappointed.
I came from Louisville KY and I love Morton's. I'd never visit LA Morton again.
