Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
I had the pleasure to be with Morton since more than 10 year at different locations.
All times I received new experiences, but however, the Steak´s are always outstanding !
Fair service for Morton's The Steakhouse - Houston :
There was no harmony between guest and service
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. I've been to various Morton's, but the downtown Houston location was my first. Our water glasses never went empty, our cocktails exceeded our expectations, and Luis was a superb waiter. We both ordered lobster bisque and filet mignon, and they tasted incredible. Even though my filet was well done, it was juicy and not dry at all. My boyfriend was so amazed at how good the food was and how classy the restaurant felt. There were a few other groups there, but it was quiet and relaxing. If you go for Restaurant Weeks, make sure to request that specific menu. Also, if you tell them you're there for a certain occasion when you make the reservation, they will make a personalized menu and give you a Morton's card with a picture of your dinner party as a keepsake. We will definitely be back!
Everything was really average for such high prices. wine list is insane- 15 dollar bottle of wines listed for 100.
asked for HRW menu- twice before receiving it. Treated kind of Blah since we ordered from it even though we also had drinks and other things from the menu.
Food was really just average. wont return
Lobster night was incredible; gotta give it up to Mark, Skip, Luis, and Manny for 5-star service.
Chef came out to say hi and check on things -- nice touch.
Everything was perfect as usual. I had the monster lobster and my wife did the HRW menu. Good crowd as well and drinks were solid.
Good location near the Houston Center complex, convenient for business lunch. The $31.50 three course lunch is good value, considering you could spend a lot more. The noise level is better (lower) than most Houston restaurants, which is good for a business lunch.
Solid experience an food. Luis was our serve and he was very knowledgeable, attentive, and make yours dining experience exceptional.
Steak and sides are perfect.
They really do a good job here. Mark, the GM, did an outstanding job making my uncle from Amarillo was going to enjoy his big city experience.
The best part of the meal was the Malbec wine. The old adage that says "Don't indulge in a seafood dish at a steak restaurant" holds true here. The signature dish, Shrimp Scampi Capellini, was a far cry from being worth the price paid. It was O. K. at best. Paying $70 for a steak was out of my 5-digit income budget. The spinach chopped salad was acceptable, also a little on the pricey side, IMHO.
The waitress was friendly, however not quite as attentive as expected with it being an early dinner with few tables filled.
The restaurant itself was very elegant. I would recommend it to someone with a more disposable income AND remind them it is a STEAK HOUSE - so order a steak. I am sure it is cooked to perfection moreso than what I ordered.
Me and me wife loved the food but we didn't like how the waiter said he was going to comp us the desert since it was our anniversary and yet we we looked at the bill to noticed that we were charged the desert. Also Morton's should look into not charging for parking since all the premium steak houses don't charge for valet. Overall great food!
Thankfully, I have never had a bad meal OR bad service at any of the Morton's Restaurants that I have frequented over the years. And the downtown Morton's on McKinney did not disappoint! Excellent food, attentive service without being bothersome, and a casual yet professional atmosphere that I look for in a restaurant for a business luncheon. Bravo!
