Morton's The Steakhouse - Honolulu Ratings and Reviews
It was an obviously busy night. The noise level was louder than we’re used to but I could see why. Other than the noise level, everything was perfect. Our waiter was awesome and seemed to show up at the perfect time. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The soufflé was to die for. Yum!! Thank you for making our time there well spent.
Our sever was very nice and friendly. Although they were busy, he made it a point to check on us. The food was delicious. We ordered the bone in filet. It was seasoned and cooked well and the spinach and mushrooms was amazing. The chocolate soufle cake was also very delicious. We had a great time and will definitely return.
Josiah, our waiter, was outstanding, informative and patient.
The seasonal item of cauliflower with truffle oil was delicious.
Everything was prepared perfectly!
The special birthday soufflé was both a treat and a surprise!
We will definitely be back soon.
This Morton's should be avoided. We have eaten at Morton's elsewhere in the world and had great experiences. We were seated at a bankette table with the kitchen and worse the cutlery sorting area directly behind us, despite the restaurant having lots of other free tables. Our server was definitely in the upselling mode - "I had to do the flight of red wines" and the steak my daughter and I ordered to share he said was not big enough and the larger one had a "better cut of the eye fillet". When our appetiser was put down our server said "Oh I didn't realise that the appetiser would take so long to come out - your steak is almost ready" We had not finished shewing our appetiser when the maitre d' and our server brought our entrees, of course he had to put one plate down to clear our appetiser plates which were stacked on the side of the table while our entrees were put down. The Key Lime Pie was dreadful - too much gelatine making it rubbery and almost no fresh lime flavour.
The entire meal was wonderful, the reason for the 3 star good was due to the fact that we ordered the bourbon maple glaze bacon steak for an appetizer, did not eat all of it. The waiter said he would box up the rest and give us a little extra sauce to go. We never got the extra sauce to go, and the bacon was not in our to-go bag when we got home to put it in the fridge...It was way too good to get forgotten. NOT HAPPY! Otherwise, wonderful
I waited at my table for after being seated for about ten minutes before anyone approached to check to see if we needed a server. Other than that, the experience was okay. The food was good, but my steak was overcooked a little. The server offered to have it redone, but I had already waited 20 minutes to eat so I declined the offer. The prices are extremely high. Definitely not a place to bring a family unless it's a special occasion.
Great food and service. Terrible ambiance. We were seated next to a couple with only a planter between us. (It reminded me of Little Village Noodle House.) The guy was so picky that the server felt compelled to speak louder. A few times, she was so loud, I jumped. By the end of the night, the woman had stopped speaking to the guy. My husband and I tried to ignore them and have a good time, but it was difficult.
Initially excited about going to Mortons for a special occasion, but finding parking and navigating the Ala Moana shopping center to get to the restaurant was a pain. After arriving, the greeting was ok and the server attentive, but ultimately the food was overpriced for what we received. The special, an organic wagyu 10 oz NY strip, was not all that...the cheaper priced filet mignon was very good. The shrimp scampi ordered came with pasta that had entirely too much garlic and really not edible. Overall, it was ok...but I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it.
Steaks, lobster, crab, potatoes and salads were scrumptious and perfectly prepared.
But the aspect of Morton’s that makes it rise above similar restaurants is the service.
Tim is an extraordinary server who flawlessly accommodated the vagaries of the eating habits of three children. Tim is the archetypal server. He is extremely professional yet he exudes a friendly and caring demeanor that makes dining at Morton’s a memorable and highly anticipated dining experience.
Our Christmas dinner was amazing. The oysters were delicious. The shrimp cocktail was superb fat succulent pieces of heaven. The Cajun ribeye is so flavorful. I loved the horseradish mash too. The desserts were amazing as well. Their signature chocolate soufflé was as light as a feather and the chocolate ooze cake was divine. We will be back for sure.
