Morton's The Steakhouse - Great Neck Ratings and Reviews
What a wonderful experience at Morton’s! Went here for Christmas dinner and the food, service, and ambiance were superb. The steak was cooked perfectly as orderd and the sides of creamed spinach and horse radish mash potatoes were delicious. The meal ended with a scrumptious chocolate cake and Irish Coffee. The ambiance is romanctic, not too noisy, perfect for good conversation, seating is spacious and comfortable giving you privacy. Would highly recommend it!
Very disappointed with the quality of the bone-in ribeye steak which my son and I both had. The meat was grainy, tough and chewy and not what I would expect from Morton's. The service was poor and the waiter would disappear and not check on the table enough. It was Christmas Eve and the restaurant was very busy, but this is no excuse for the poor quality of the food.
Beautiful restaurant, great wine selection. Single malt scotch selection was lacking. Appetizers were ok, steaks were good, the grilled asparagus was shriveled and unappetizing, and the horseradish mash potatoes were nothing special. The soufflé was not tasty at all but the preordered chocolate cake desert was ok. Our server Lisa was fantastic but it didn’t save the food. Overall not worth the money, I would rather go to Rare650, Rothmans or Peter Luger.
Don’t understand what happened. Been here before. Something has changed. Our server, Cindy, tried but it just didn’t work out. Salad coming at same time as entrees? Steak over cooked but Cindy disappeared so how does one point it out? Miso sea bass too sweet.
It was not that busy. There are some basic flaws showing.
This restaurant is quite large so the good news is that they always have an available table - even when booking at the last minute which is what we did. The noise level was very low which made for an uncommon, and enjoyable experience because we could actually all hear one another speak without having to raise our voices. The steak was mediocre at best. It was cooked to our specifications but was just ok. The side dishes were perfectly fine, but we chose this restaurant that evening because we were in the mood for steak & unfortunately we were not impressed.
We went for Thanksgiving. As always, the food was great. This time, however, epic fail on service. From bringing the wrong drinks, almost serving us wine we didn't order, failing to bring the steak sauce we ordered, failing to bring over some limes and lemons we ordered for our sparkling water, mixing up our steaks ( they served mine to my wife and my wife's to me) and bringing mashed potatoes we didn't order as our side (and then going back to cook the actual sides we did order while we ate our steaks and which arrived as our steaks were finished). As my daughter said, part of the reason we are willing to pay so much for dinner is the service is a huge part of the dining experience. "This isn't Chili's". When the manager came around to all the tables ask how things were going (with most tables telling him all was fine), I spoke up and told him how unhappy we were with the service (as the sides were just arriving to empty steak plates). I give him much credit. The manager apologized for everything and didn't charge us for the sides or for desert (and bought us a glass of port). So I will say that they did try to make it up to us and we will be back.
Not what one would expect from and first class restaurant. It was my big birthday. First thing they did was give us menus wishing "Jenny" a happy birthday. Wrong person. Then they asked for drink orders. I ordered a pricey bottle of wine, with which the so called wine steward came over juggling the bottle, something a real wine steward knows you never do with a bottle of wine. Once we got our order, the waitress left, never to be seen again. Food was just okay. Never going back again.
Food was excellent, but the service was a real turn off. Our food was put on the table so fast our heads spun. No break between courses. Drinks, appetizer, meal, and dessert all done in 50 minutes.
I’m not looking for a best friend, but the waiter was unfriendly. Needs a bit of social skills if dealing with the public.
My family and I went for restaurant week. This place was fabulous. Our server Vanessa was great very attentive and great service skills. There is great team work with the servers and staff. Everything tasted delicious I will definitely be coming back to this steak house.
With so many steak restaurants in the area, Morton’s should be your last choice. Food was far below expectations for a steak restaurant, and the filet mignon was absolutely tasteless. Salad and sides were equally average or below.
The restaurant feels dated, the service, and staff were indifferent, and no reason to come back.
