Morton's The Steakhouse - Great Neck Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant is quite large so the good news is that they always have an available table - even when booking at the last minute which is what we did. The noise level was very low which made for an uncommon, and enjoyable experience because we could actually all hear one another speak without having to raise our voices. The steak was mediocre at best. It was cooked to our specifications but was just ok. The side dishes were perfectly fine, but we chose this restaurant that evening because we were in the mood for steak & unfortunately we were not impressed.
We went for Thanksgiving. As always, the food was great. This time, however, epic fail on service. From bringing the wrong drinks, almost serving us wine we didn't order, failing to bring the steak sauce we ordered, failing to bring over some limes and lemons we ordered for our sparkling water, mixing up our steaks ( they served mine to my wife and my wife's to me) and bringing mashed potatoes we didn't order as our side (and then going back to cook the actual sides we did order while we ate our steaks and which arrived as our steaks were finished). As my daughter said, part of the reason we are willing to pay so much for dinner is the service is a huge part of the dining experience. "This isn't Chili's". When the manager came around to all the tables ask how things were going (with most tables telling him all was fine), I spoke up and told him how unhappy we were with the service (as the sides were just arriving to empty steak plates). I give him much credit. The manager apologized for everything and didn't charge us for the sides or for desert (and bought us a glass of port). So I will say that they did try to make it up to us and we will be back.
Not what one would expect from and first class restaurant. It was my big birthday. First thing they did was give us menus wishing "Jenny" a happy birthday. Wrong person. Then they asked for drink orders. I ordered a pricey bottle of wine, with which the so called wine steward came over juggling the bottle, something a real wine steward knows you never do with a bottle of wine. Once we got our order, the waitress left, never to be seen again. Food was just okay. Never going back again.
Food was excellent, but the service was a real turn off. Our food was put on the table so fast our heads spun. No break between courses. Drinks, appetizer, meal, and dessert all done in 50 minutes.
I’m not looking for a best friend, but the waiter was unfriendly. Needs a bit of social skills if dealing with the public.
My family and I went for restaurant week. This place was fabulous. Our server Vanessa was great very attentive and great service skills. There is great team work with the servers and staff. Everything tasted delicious I will definitely be coming back to this steak house.
With so many steak restaurants in the area, Morton’s should be your last choice. Food was far below expectations for a steak restaurant, and the filet mignon was absolutely tasteless. Salad and sides were equally average or below.
The restaurant feels dated, the service, and staff were indifferent, and no reason to come back.
We tried Morton's for the first time for Restaurant Week. The food was good but I felt the menu was unimaginative for people like my husband and I who wished a place to find for future occasions. We visited two other restaurants that week and we were much more satisfied with the selection and quantity we found elsewhere. So disappointing especially as we braved a terribly rainy and windy day to go there.
Expected more from this restaurant, first and second wine we ordered were not available, third choice was a different vintage year. Service was slow with many gaps where we did not see the waiter for long periods of time. The food was good but overall for the prices charged I would expect that a bit more attention be paid to the customers.
This is not the Morton’s I remember when waiters waited on your every move and food was shown to you table side.
We had one waiter for 5 guests, food was cold at service. Dinner plates brought out at different times. Table was bused only once at end of meal making a filthy dining experience. One dessert menu given for 5 people to decide. Tongs were not brought out with porterhouse for 2, Had to ask, finally brought tongs out 5 minutes later when we finally saw waiter. (40% was not edible and not cooked correctly. Ref picture). Scallops were so large that they were well done on outside and raw in center. 5 star prices for 1 star food/experience. Very disappointed.
The service and food were outstanding as usual. My husband and I always enjoy dining at Mortons. Our only complaint this time around was that there was a new policy of no splitting or sharing a salad. My husband and I come to the restaurant quiet frequently and always split a salad. It was disappointing that it became a hassle. P
Such a great night! We came to celebrate an anniversary and got star treatment. From personalized Happy Anniversary menus to a souvenir photo and frame, Mortons staff went above and beyond to give us a great night. All the staff were polite and helpful but our server Toni was the best - very knowledgeable about the food- the cuts, the way to cook them and what sauces would be best- she was spot on. It was busy and she never missed a beat with any of her tables. The center cut filet melted in my mouth and the lobster mashed potatoes were out of this world (a little salty for my boyfriends taste). Can't wait to done here again! Thank you for everything!
As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted warmly (we arrived early so we sat at the bar to wait) my wife had a merlot that came highly recommended. I had an IPA and a shot of Avion. We were half way into our drinks when Daniel the assistant manager took us to our table and had our drinks brought to the table. I told Daniel we were celebrating our 8th anniversary. When we received our menus they had our names on it wishing us a happy anniversary. Our waitress told us all the specials and her recommendations. We started with the Ahi tuna tower (WOW it's a flavor rich tower) I had the appetizer sampler which I loved. We also had amazing bread that was fresh out of the oven and so soft, severed with soft butter that tasted like it was just churned. We wanted to order the porterhouse for two but Michelle recommended that we order the porterhouse for one because of several reasons we appreciated. 1. It we be prepared sooner. 2. We could order it two different ways (medium rare and medium well) 3. The price would be the same. I love a waitress that is in tune with our needs and recommends things that will increase our experience. We also ordered the horseradish mashed potatoes and creamy spinach. When the food arrived the presentation was beautiful and the taste WOW the steak was nothing I've experienced before. Everyone needs this experience in their life. My God my taste buds were dancing in my mouth. My steak was butter soft, each bite was an explosion of flavor better then the last. I didn't want to even try the sides because I didn't want to sully the flavors I was enjoying so much. Thank God my wife did, the look alone on her face told me I needed to try what she was tasting. The horseradish mashed potatoes was a one-two punch to my palate. With everything we had there was so much to take home and the bill was worth my wifes happiness and I can't wait to go back. Daniel made sure we left happy which we did. Thanks for a night to remember Morton's
Out of all the times we have gone to Morton's, this was the most horrible experience. We ordered the lobster bisque, there wasn't any lobster pieces n it tasted horrendous, told the waiter he apologised then came the manager told us he would take it up with the chef. Then we had ordered the mashed poratoes/ horse radish it was horrible we just didn't eat it,we were disappointed that there was not any effort from management to make it up.Im now wondering If I'll ever go back.
