The food, server, and bartender were outstanding! I only have two complaints. I requested a personalized menu and even called to confirm they had all the information they needed. The menu was not ready at arrival and I had to ask the waiter for it after we ordered. It ruined the surprise to the birthday boy. Also we couldn't find the valet. When we did he said my mini van was too big for him to park? Really?!
Everyone had a fabulous dinner except me! Mine was delicious until the main course. My steak was more medium rare than medium and the lobster was just past raw. I asked both to cooked a little more. At that kind of steakhouse it should be perfect! They took them back to the kitchen and cooked them to death! The lobster was already small and shrunk to 3 bites and the steak was well done and tasted dry!! Maybe the chefs were offended by my sending them back!! Like I said at this level of restaurant I should not have to worry about sending back a meal to get it right! (Also the fries tasted like the oil in the fryer was old.)
Food was good. Wonderful service. However, they had packed in so many tables there was no room for people to walk by. We had to move our chairs such waiters to walk by. Even then, they were brushing our hairs, shoulders as they walk by. Really not pleasant.
This place was spectacular. This was my opinion before someone explained the legend of Morton's Steakhouse. The service was incredibly appropriate; the waiters were polite, engaging, and very attentive. The food was divine: great temperature, great pairing, large sides for the table, and tasty.
My wife and I visited Georgetown to see the stairs from the movie "The Exorsist " and decided to stop here for dinner..best decision we've ever made concerning food! From start to finish it was excellent, everything! You'll pay quite a bit but it's worth every dollar! I'd make the 3 and half hour drive from Virginia Beach just to eat there again, a must if your in the area!
Morton's never disappoints! The service was spot on. My husband appreciated the genuine, extra attention for his birthday. The food --lobster bisque, shrimp Alexander, perfectly sautéed broccoli and same for spinach and shrooms--really terrific. My husband thought the ribeye was very good. Relaxing environment. A+!
A standard-fare high-end chain steakhouse which continues to become a very dated concept in the DC restaurant market. Regardless, an "old reliable," as are its competitors, when you're seeking a no-frills, high quality steak with a traditional cocktail and great wine. They did suffer a minor hiccup during my last trip there, as they didn't bring out our steaks as Oscar style, which we had both requested. The waiter Harry, however, masterfully covered and corrected the error, so extra points for him. A big THANKS! for comp'ing my son's dessert on the occasion of his birthday; a nice touch.
Went to an afternoon Nats game, and stopped here for dinner after. We got a tip that this week is Restaurant Week, so there are lots of restaurants offering 3-course meals for $35. Had to ask for the special menu when we arrived. Very limited, but still good options: entrees were filet, pork, fish or chicken. Our group had a variety, and everyone was happy except the chicken was dry (but why order chicken at Mortons?!?!). Filet was perfect Med Rare. Sides solid and desserts fine. Spent all the money we saved on Wine. Huge list, but very few options under $50...
I preferred the porterhouse and my wife ordered the Maine lobster. My wife's lobster came burned and my porterhouse, ordered medium, arrived medium well at best. They did replace my wife's lobster without a second thought (I didn't bother complaining about mine although I probably should have considering the price). Our waiter wasn't very attentive but we noticed other servers were. Ymmv. In my opinion, the experience isn't really a worth the price.
This Morton's is tucked away on a side street in Georgetown. Plenty of parking nearby and they offer valet service. We had a reservation just after restaurant opening on a Saturday evening. We were seated in a nice booth and the staff welcomed us quickly. Our waitress was attentive and offered suggestions for house favorites. I have been to Morton's a few times over the years but it was my wife's first time. We both enjoyed our meals and various drinks that accompanied the food. We chose the restaurant due to it's proximity to the Kennedy Center, where we attended an evening show. Overall, very nice dinner, and because it was early in the evening, it wasn't as crowded and was very quiet.
My service was excellent I mean out of this world. Our waiter Andrew was so knowledgeable about the wine and the food. He was very nice and gave us a great conversation meanwhile he did the same for other tables I noticed. Andrew make you want to come back and request him only. The way he took care of us was like he had no other customers. But when I looked around he was doing the same at each of his tables. His general manager Ram came to the table after Andrew told him it was my birthday and they bought me my desert. I give Morton's The Steakhouse on Prospect St FIVE STARS for excellent service from the time you walk in until the time you leave. I will keep coming back just for the fantastic service.
As always the food at Morton's was excellent and they had a great Gluten-Free menu for my friend. Andrew our waiter was great and very attentive. I was disappointed that management wa not more interactive with our table and did not offer an VIP drinks after dinner. Especially since it was a slow night
Most important part first. Perfectly prepared high quality steaks.
The prosciutto wrapped mozzarella appetizer was a very flavorful surprise. I thought it would be good but it was fantastic.
Asparagus and corn were both done well too.
Top it off with great service and we had a wonderful experience.
I have no idea how you can overcook a steak in steak restaurant - but Morton's inept cooks managed to do just that. Not just once but twice... The slow server then did the rest to kill the evening. Avoid if you want proper service and a good piece of meat.
Its a steakhouse. steaks were good, but it was steak, nothing special. Nice wines, but expensive. The a la carte menu makes the final bill with wine especially hefty. I did like the sides almost better than the beef! Service was good and it was relatively quiet. I could hear which I always appreciate.
Overall there were good things and some "average" things that a star like Morton's should/could hit every time.
Let us start with the positives. The Georgetown location is a great location. Great look and a place we have visited for many special occasions. The food is good and the staff is always excellent in each of their roles. The salmon dish (2x) was really good as well as the two side dishes (Mashed Potato and Asparagus). Desserts were excellent as well with the Carrot Cake being a 5 star.
This occasion had a few "bumps in the road" with first service and then food. First, the server extended his had for a handshake to start the meal as a means of introducing himself. With my 15 years of restaurant management in DC I can say this is the first time I have been the recipient of this intro. As for the food, the Cajun Steak did not have a spicy taste. On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the hottest for a "Cajun" dish I would give it a 1 with a VERY mild flavor.
As we left we had to hunt down the valet for about 5 minutes before getting our car. I think he was working solo and needed a back up to meet/greet guests.
So overall it was average, but, with a couple of adjustments could be good/great.
I have been to several Morton's in the past, including this one, and found that both service quality and food quality are not what they used to be.
One of the guests specifically requested dairy-free food due to allergy and was served cheese both in salad and on toasts.
Meat was cooked at least one level more than ordered.
So - from being a superb choice for carnivores Morton's has turned into a chain of mediocre steakhouses. Pity. May take a while before I give them another chance.
One point in their favor: A fine wine list with a nice selection of old-world wines.
