Morton's The Steakhouse - Denver Ratings and Reviews
I took a group of friends to Mortons and what a mistake that was....!
With a bill of nearly of a $1000, under cooked steaks, 1:45 to get dinners served ....!
However, I must be fair, I have been eating at Mortons for over 25 years and this was my first bad meal. The timing was just really poor.
Growing up, I had always heard about how amazing 😲 Morton’s (of Chicago—they used to call it) was. I always wanted to go there. Not sure why it took until last night to get there but it did not disappoint! I had the prime ribeye with black truffle butter. Yum! 😋 The best part was a date with my wife.
It was just awful. As we walked in there was no host at the front. We waited about three minutes. Then she showed up. As we waited, you couldn’t help but notice that the bar was empty besides 1 person at the bar and a couple at a cocktail table. We were seated in an almost empty restaurant. There was a table of ten and four other tables besides our table of four. We were greeted by our waiter after about 6 minutes of being seated. He took our drink orders. 11 minutes later he asked if we wanted to get some wine going while we waited for our cocktails. 15 minutes or so later, he asked if we wanted to get some food going while our cocktails were being made. We said we want our drinks first before we commit to ordering since we had been waiting for 25 minutes. He said he will check and then actually shot a dirty look like we were being rude as we waited. At the thirty minute mark, we left. No cocktails and no food. It was awful and Morton’s seriously has gone downhill and lost my business.
The Halloween special was very disappointing by Morton standards. Potato choices were poor, given they have the best hash browns on the planet, but not on this special. The 5 onion soup was a major disappointment, small portion and poor quality. The Filet was bery good, and the chocolate mousse was outstanding. Not the good deal I expected and not up to Morton standarrds.
Morton’s always gets it right! Joe is a gem!!! We’ve never been disappointed in our experiences there. We do miss the old location but the new place is gorgeous. We were a little rushed in trying to get to a show on time even though we had reservations two hours prior to our show.
The new décor at this Morton's is really beautiful and upscale. So much better than the old wood look they had in the previous location. Food is excellent and only surpassed by the wonderful service of Anthony. The Tuna tower is marvelous as well as almost every dish on the menu. Wines are marked up a little too much but after all it's Morton's so paying for the ambiance. General Manager is attentive and stops by all the tables to check in. A great customer service touch.
The general manager brought us our wine from the amazing and fun cellar. He was extremely gracious, and let us know if we didn't like it he was happy to change it out since it was our first time trying that particular brand. It was beautiful. The food was fantastic. Our server noticed my struggling to hear as we were directly under a speaker and offered (and did) lower the music so we could hear each other at the table. Overall, and fantastic meal. Lovely setting and decor. Great service. A bit pricey though.
Went on a Wednesday. 6:45 pm. Only 2 people in the entire restaurant. We where seated outside. It took a while for the waiter to come out. About 10 minutes later the drinks came, took our dinner order. 5 minutes later he brought our a big roll of delicious bread. However we did not have a knive to cut it with. So I just tore of a piece For my wife and I. We dipped the bread in the butter plate he brought. The dinner tasted great!! By the time we left there where only 2 other people out on the patio with us. Absolutely nobody in the restaurant. I thought the service could have been better. The food was delicious. I have never seen a steakhouse so empty before. I wonder if the service has something to do with it, or has time past by a place like Mortons and people are not interested in a high end steakhouse.
Used to go to Hortons once or twice every month. Denver was one of the first locations outside Chicago (it's moved several times since) and was very unique and wonderful albeit expensive. Through the years, always enjoyed it as I traveled but found other places. Landry's purchased the chain out of bankruptcy and I should have known that they would bring it back (I miss "the show" of the menu though). A special aLabor Day weekend promotion of their loyalty members brought me back and it was just fantastic in every way: service, ambiance and especially food and presentation. Great to be back with you!!!
Absolutely amazing place!! Took my girlfriend there for her birthday and they treated her and I like royalty. They went above and beyond, giving her a cake, picture of us two and even a special menu with her name and birthday on it! The GM was very polite and fun to talk to, he even went table to table just to see how his customers were doing. The waiter was the best I've had in the many restaurants I've been two. Five star classy place! The food was well worth the price, best steak I've had in Denver. Will be definitely recommend this place!
Absolutely delicious. Before our reservation they called to see if it was a special occasion. When we got to our seats they handed us menus that said Happy Anniversary and our names! The steaks and sides were perfect and the space is nice and quiet. Highly recommend.
We were a table of three with reservations specifically for the Lobster special. Our table was not ready at our reserved time, not a big deal. However, our waiter was most over zealous with the menu listings..he lost us with the 11th description. We ordered appetizers and several sides along with three lobster specials. We were promptly dressed in our plastic bibs and waited for 1 1/4 hour for our lobsters. We were told after an hour they were coming out soon...When they did arrive, they were dry and overcooked.
The Manager (assume) came over as we began eating, placed his hand on the back of my chair and stated "Have you started?" Obviously so, then asked "Do you have any comments?" When we commented on the delay , he responded "Oh, we were a little backed up in the kitchen". Not one resemblance of an apology. His entire demeanor was most annoying.
There are far better restaurants in town, we have crossed this one off our list, forever.
Made a last minute reservation via OpenTable and were to get right end. It was a special occasion for our sons graduation from graduate school. Open arrival they seated us at a great window table and congratulated our son on his graduation. There was even a specially printed menu just for us.
Our server, Julia, was exceptional. Very knowledgeable, friendly and always available when needed and, just as important, not too intrusive. One of the best servers I've ever had.
The food was exceptional. Restaurant was quiet.
Overall, a phenomenal evening!
