Morton's The Steakhouse - Chicago - Wacker Place Ratings and Reviews
My associate could not make the dinner, so I had to dine alone. Morton's has always been my favorite in Chicago, so I did not want to miss the dinner. I thought the music was too loud, probably because it wasn't really my style of music and the fact that I was alone. I was seated in an empty room, that quickly filled up with trade show people. I love the Beefsteak & tomato salad, my filet was absolutely wonderful, best ever. I had to have the Creme Brulee, so I could brag to my husband and Granddaughter as it is their favorite. It was perfect. Bertha was my waitress and she was wonderful and took very good care of me, as did all the other helpful assistants. Cost seems high for me, as I am from a very small town and to pay 148.00 with tip/( 1 cocktail & no appetizer) for a meal seems excessive. I can feed my whole family a great meal for much less. I get to Chicago once a year and when I do, I like to splurge and east at Morton's!
Disappointed in the service. Waiter seemed distracted. Spilled blue cheese of a salad, didn't notice at first, brought a very small amount back not as much as spilled.
Steak after being undercooked went back twice and ended up over cooked. There were a couple other things too. Not the type of service expected at this type of restaurant.
We drove down from Wisconsin Sunday night to have dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Our GPS could not find the restaurant, which frustrated us to no end. By the time we found the restaurant, we were all incredibly frustrated. We'd actually contemplated going home. We had called to let them know we were running late. When we walked in, the hostess struck exactly the right tone. She was friendly and understanding and told us that it wasn't the first time the GPS had screwed up getting people to that location.
We felt much better by the time we were seated at our table. Our server, Victor, from the moment he introduced himself was FABULOUS! I don't think we've had a better server anywhere. He was very friendly, professional and attentive. He took excellent care of us.
My husband and son got the wedge salad while I got the chopped salad, which was delicious. Our steaks were cooked well; however, they lacked seasoning. We also ordered the sauteed spinach and mushrooms, which was delicious as well as an awesome baked potato that was split three ways for us to share it.
For dessert, we ordered the hot fudge sundae. It was amazing; although, there was a ton of whipped cream.
Overall, we had a great night after driving around in circles thanks to the staff. Our only disappointment was the lack of seasoning on our steaks.
This was the absolute worst experience!! We have been coming for my birthday for years. Decided to try different location & our waiter was absolutely horrible! :( He started w/an attitude which didn't serve our table well! We spent over $600! He was sarcastic, embarrassed me & made for my "real" b-day a total nightmare!!!! He mixed our orders up, brought wrong items & didn't even bring a candle for me when another table next to us had a sparkling candle & b-day song! (Right in front of us:( Very upsetting & was a special b-day for a reason (just getting over going through chemo & radiation for breast cancer) that should've been great! Wish we had Mary who I know is just lovely!! Should've changed especially if I knew all of this!!!:( Waiter-Miguel was rude, sarcastic, extremely inappropriate! Many other things not listed here were wrong!! Completely very upsetting for all of us!!:(
Service was not there. The manager had to jump in many times and even at that point the service was not even there. It took over 8 minutes for our drinks to be even order. Through the whole experience our drinks were empty before we were even asked for another one. It’s in a prime location and that is the only thing keeping this location afloat. Keep in mind this was a Monday night.
Once a year we look forward to coming here from South Dakota. This year was somewhat disappointing and embarrassing. My husband ordered the large bone-in ribeye and I the filet mignon with bacon wrapped scallops and "Oscar style". When the meal arrived, speed of service was good, mine didn't have the "Oscar". Since it was atop asparagus it took me a minute to take in what was all missing. When our waiter checked back on our meal I started to say there was no Bearanaise or crab.... and before I finished he left stating, 'oh yes, your Oscar" and headed towards the kitchen. He passed by just a couple more times before returning with a small side of the Bearanise and a separate small saucer with lump crab meet on it and some asparagus. He scraped the crab and asparagus onto my filet mignon and stated happily, "there you go" ! I was a little like, uh, ok...and thought, oh well. While that was a little embarrassing, the disappointment was that everything was luke warm. I would even say that the asparagus under the filet was almost chilled! I also tried some of the sour cream mashed sides we ordered and found they were luke warm as well. I felt the dish temperature of the potatoes, as generally shared sides are in oven baked dishes but this was not the case. I felt all the dishes and did not feel even a nuance of heat, which would explain why everything was luke warm. The steaks were very good tasting and tender, but lump crab meat and separate Bearanaise sauce is not appetizing luke warm. I might see if we can try Gibson's next year or Berghoff's. For a special occasion we do not mind spending the money for I would have expected a little more class?
We dined at Morton's for my son's b-day. The food was very good. We had oysters, escargot, filets, and salmon and creme brûlée.
Service by Winston was over the top. He made every effort to accommodate a very picky party. Every special order was followed and were had an early flight. Winston made a Herculean effort to make sure we were served promptly but not rushed.
Would definitely recommend Morton's for dining and any special occasion.
We have been frequent diners at Morton's for many years. It seems like the quality of the food, drinks and service has taken a nose dive since it was purchased from Landry's.
Given the large selection of fine steakhouses in Chicago, I am certain that we will be able to find somewhere else to go the next time our business associate comes to town.
Not a place I would visit soon again. I used to look at this restaurant to go for a special meal, however the steak was served on a cold plate, and cooled quickly. In addition my baked potato was served lukewarm and needed to be replaced. Also no apologies by the manager or waitress. This is definitely below par for this great steak restaurant chain, if compared to their other locations.
My husband and I were first-time diners at Morton's, and we truly enjoyed our dining experience. The staff was superb, and paid very close attention to our needs throughout our dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the twice-baked au gratin mashed potatoes! They almost stole the show from the steak! Highly recommend a nice dinner out to Morton's
Excellent steak restaurant my first time there I will be back the food was delicious as you can see some of the shrimp cocktail. my only criticism is they do not cater single people because the sides are large to share that they won't do you have portions or quarter portions.
The prosciutto wrapped mozzarella appetizer was phenominal! I also had the wedge salad and halibut special which were also fantastic. Very tasty and large portions. The service was great, and the server was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back. The food is a bit pricey so be sure you are up for that.
My friend and I celebrated our birthdays and had the best time. Our server Matthew was amazing. He made us feel so special. Our appetizer, main entree, sides, champagne and complimentary desserts were top notched. I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend Morton's.
after trying lots of steak restaurants in Chicago, Mortons has become my favorite. The steaks are amazing. This visit was specific for the lobster special. The portion was huge and the price was great. Our server was Winston and he was great. I will Definitely ask for him the next time I dine at Mortons.
We went because of a specially advertised 3 course meal. The waiter had to be asked for the special menu so if you didn't know about the deal prices are very high. Not reasonable as I noted in ny review. Had a great meal. If there hadn't been a special I would have not been as happy
