Morton's The Steakhouse - Arlington Ratings and Reviews
Had a great dinner. Surf and turf special. Filet was grilled to perfection and delicious. Shrimp alexander was excellent. Mac and cheese was pure comfort food. Only disappointment was the key lime pie...not very limey. We had to wait about 20 minutes after our reservation to get a table. Our server (can't remember his name) was outstanding. He made excellent recommendations and was very conversational without being intrusive.
Celebrating our 30 year wedding anniversary. They said a special table was set up for us but unfortunately it was right against the kitchen and the noise was disturbing. The wine was overpriced for the amount poured (1/3 full). Food was delicious and was given desert as a gift. The $186.00 price tag was a once a year treat.
We hadn't been to Morton's in a long time because I had been displeased by the dark, claustrophobic atmosphere and just ok beef. So it was time to revisit--and I'm glad we did. The room is still dark without windows, but it seemed bigger than I remember--did they expand in the last 10 years? The service was great and the food excellent. My one surprise was that the rib eye, which I usually find to be the smoothest, tastiest of cuts, was not as good as the New York Strip, which was quite buttery in flavor and texture. But both were excellent and we took half of each meal home. They had a special wine offering of Stag's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon at $99--usually $150. I don't usually spend that much on a wine, but this was outstanding. We got the last bottle on the special.
One thing to note. You must allow at least 1 1/2 hours for a good meal. Our order was taken quickly, a huge onion bread loaf was brought right away, and the appetizer (a split Caesar's salad) came quickly. But there was at least 20-25 minutes afterwards until the main course came, so we were starting to get worried about a theater performance that we had at 8 pm. We left at 7:40 after arriving at 6 pm.
Valentine's day service was very slow. Definitely did not have enough staff on hand. Took 20 mins after reservation to be seated. Another 15 mins to be waited on. 1.5 hours to have entree on the table. Steak over cooked.. they did however cook another steak that was excellent (free of charge).
We went to celebrate our daughter's birthday on Valentine's Day. Had an early 5:30 pm reservation (we were seated right away). The restaurant was not terribly crowded when we arrived, but filled in within the next hour. Dinner was good, but definitely not amazing considering the cost. And although our waiter was very pleasant, the service was painfully slow. We only had 4 people and did not finish until 9 pm. Appetizers were generally good, salads very mediocre (tomatoes and blue cheese were absolutely drowned in dressing), and steaks were very average for the price. In terms of meal value, our bill was close to $500 and not worth it.
Unfortunately for us, our overall experience was tainted a bit right from the start because our reservation was not in their system even though we had made it at least a day in advance. Aside from that, the food was delicious, especially the Shrimp Alexander appetizer. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the person who refills your water cup did a great job of keeping ours filled. Our server, Maria, was very nice and attentive. Warm restaurant ambiance, perfect for a date and for conversation during dinner. Very impressed with the wine choices. Cocktails were a bit too strong, so much so that we had to send one back. We do our best to remember the positive of all our experiences and we did have an overall good time despite our initial impression. We will return but next time we'll be sure to call ahead to confirm our reservations.
It is not what it once was now that it is part of a chain. We were not welcomed when we arrived for our table. A waitstaff member curtly told reception that someone was here and did not look at us. Our waiter was not attentive. The managers did not come over to ask how we were enjoying our evening. When I tried to get a manager' attention he ignored me. This was my last visit to Morton's The Steakhouse. When the food was served it was not hot enough. No one came to offer to refill our ice tea. It was a disappointment.
We chose Morton's because we had eaten there in the past. At the time we visited Morton's we had a group of 3 of our friends in from Great Britain, and we wanted to take them someplace nice to eat. We had them with us for three nights. We chose Morton's because we knew the service would be good, the food excellent and they would enjoy themselves. On another note, Morton's was quite busy that night, and though the service was a bit slower than usual, the décor was such that the noise level was low enough you could carry on conversation while you waited even though the restaurant was full.
A previously excellent restaurant that is slowly going down hill. I had the worst experience I have ever had at Morton's but keep trying to give them another shot. The food and service was so lackluster this time it called for a review. My service was just ok. My order was messed up and food was slow. The server missed my husband's appetizer and mine arrived just warm. His was actually hot even though it arrived 20-25 minutes later. My steak was undercooked and then I was returned the same steak pieces overcooked. It took close to an hour and a half for our entrees to come out of the kitchen. No food was coming out of the kitchen when you looked around the restaurant . People that arrived before and after us were all receiving their food at the same time with us. I don't know if the chef and all the previously great wait staff have departed or what. But the consistently excellent food and service are leaving this location.
If you've frequented this location over the years you will realize that all the previous staff that provided excellent service is gone. Most of the staff appears not to know what's going on and service standards have decreased. I hope they can get it together because I've always enjoyed Morton's.
3 plates of food had to be returned for a wrong order, not the correctly cooked given to the person's order, and a order was given to the another person. Plates were not brought out together. One person had to wait over 10 minutes while the rest of the table ate their meals. This dining experience was not typical of the service I have received at Morton's. No discount or comp'd dessert for the poor service.
Mortons steakhouse is wonderful place to be. The Steak was magnificent and the side dishes to go along with it. The only problem is service. I had to wait about 30 - 40 mins before getting my food. Also other people that came after us to Mortons got their food before us. If they can fix that problem, mortons will be an excellent place to be.
The service was terrible. Waitstaff was inattentive, the food was cold and it was noisy. We waited about 5 minutes after being seated to be approached and it took longer just to fill the water glasses. When we retrieved our coats from the coat check they were handed to me and the manager ran over to help put them on. Not what I expect whatsoever from Morton's. I am will to pay for a good meal, however this was a terrible waste of money.
Birthday- everything great except my husbands steak was undercooked twice. He ordered the Waygu ribeye that was very much like a filet, basically no fat marbling at all. Came our rare the first time and he ordered it medium, came out second time rare towards medium rare. He ate it and it was good however not worth $80 by any means.
There really no other term to describe dinner than disapointing. Oysters on the half were small and not really fresh. The most expensive red wine by the glass was corked. The waiter graciously replaced the wine. Dinner was unremarkable. The experince did not justify the price.
We always go to this Morton's when we want a great dining night out. This time we had 2 "concerns or complaints". The waitress came back to the table after taking my order to tell me my beef entree was no longer available. Customers should be told this prior to ordering or the item should be taken off the menu. Also it was a very quiet night & the waitress spent too much time talking to us when we wanted to enjoy our evening together. Then when we were ready for the check & had told her no coffee or dessert, we waited at least 15 minutes while she talked to another diner that was not even her table. We finally had to get another waitress to go tell her we wanted our check. We were 2 of the last 3 customers left in the restaurant since we waited so long. Both minor complaints but both made us not have the " great" evening we have when we go to Morton's.
Fantastic venue for an upscale special occasion. Celebrated my daughters 16th Birthday, no small details are too small. Personalized menu on our table when we arrived commemorating the event, a complimentary Birthday dessert, as well as a complimentary Family photo taken table side. Very well done and we will definitely eat there again. Our server, Calli, was a true professional as well.
This was not my typical Morton's experience. Got there early, dining room want available so I sat in the bar. From there it kind of went downhill. HH Cabernet is not to be recommended, wedge bites were soaked in blue cheese and no one ever checked to move me to the dining room. Despite having checked, they told OT I didn't show up--while I was still sitting in the bar. This has have been just an off moment for here as I've been before and it's always been excellent.
