Great offering for those who want an upscale dining experience with great wines and beers on draft.
This our first time here, new to the area and were recommended to try this place out by a few friends. The service was Excellent, I don’t remember our servers name she was tall with brown hair and a fun personality! The only suggestion I would make is more seasoning on the food, needed a little more “pow” for me but I am very picky and I know my taste isn’t for everybody. The food was overall good but the desserts are where it’s at! I had the key lime pie and my wife had the almond torte which was delicious. We would go back again for sure. Overall a wonderful date night place.
Arrived at our 6:30 reservation for a Fat Tuesday celebration to find they were already out of the shrimp special!!!! What?! Really? The fried oysters were huge!!! When asked what kind they were, we were told they were Pacific oysters. Really?!? Truly cannot recomend the food☹️
With stunning views, a robust wine list and tasty new cuisine, Morso's is an excellent choice for out of town guests or a visit with family or friends. They're part of the March Waterfront Restaurant specials. Kudos to the chef for the food choices!
We were seated immediately. Meg, our server, was so knowledgeable, and fun. We had a bottle of wine that for us was expensive, and it was amazing! The food was so good. We loved our experience here. Next time I'd probably request a table by the window. :)
Really nice setting overlooking the harbor. Nice decor and seating for what’s really one not very big room. But the concrete floor and high metal ceiling makes it noisy. Was maybe a third of the tables occupied. Wonderful wine selection. Didn’t drink beer, but the selection was modest. No hard liquor sales. Menu is really enticing. We had padron peppers for an appetizer, really good. My tuna dinner was very good, flavors in line with what the menu stated. We also had a gumbo, which was a disappointment. The meat ingredients were all there, but the sauce was bland and flavorless. The waitress (very good, attentive, and entertaining) suggested hot sauce to liven the gumbo up.
We always love the atmosphere, service and quality of the food at Morso, they do an excellent job.
Good service, nice but quirky menu, great ambience and a view of the harbor. My beer was served with a warm glass, though. I asked for a cold one, but was told they don't chill glasses. In a wine bar? Anyway, it was a little odd tilting a big bottle of Asahi, but I wasn't gong to drink it warm. We shared a small salad, flatbread, and short ribs. Salad was OK, mushroom flatbread was good, short ribs were excellent.
Food was nothing special. Actually very little flavor.
Delicious food, excellent service, yummy wines!
Great food and service! The wine that our server recommended was fabulous.
Valentine's Day. Dining room had a nice ambiance...linens...flowers...candles. Tables packed in but to be expected for a busy night. Steak with crab Bearnaise, and lamb chops were featured for special. Both cooked perfectly, great Zinfandel. Our server, Kevin...was fun and professional. Nice evening.
Pros: Main Course (Surf and Turf) was very good. Perfectly prepared steak served with crab in a butter sauce that was outstanding. Portion size was good with potatoes and broccolini. Wine was a Merlot and went well with our meal. Did not feel rushed.
Cons: Side salad was very skimpy. Twice our waitress attempted to remove food/drink that was not finished. First time she tried to take my plate with a good portion of filet mignon still on it. The second time occurred when she took our wine bottle and walked away with a full glass serving remaining.
Overall, the dinner was good and considering they were swamped with Valentine's Day crowd, I cut the service some slack.
Excellent champagne, wine, food & service! The staff are knowledgeable in their wine selections and always courteous and prompt. We highly recommend Morso to our friends, family and visitors.
We have mixed feelings about Morso. On the one hand, we LOVE it! The location is beautiful, on the north end of Gig Harbor, it has a beautiful view of the water. The interior of the restaurant is warm and inviting. The live music is outstanding. And let's not forget the food and wine - all of which are usually very good quality. And let's highlight the staff, who are delightful - very friendly and engaging. Where we struggle is in how long it takes to get our orders. It's not unusual to wait up to 30 minutes to get an appetizer and even longer to get our salads/mains. What should be a quick meal can take 90 mins to 2 hours, which is longer than it should be. If Morso was able to correct and speed up the time from "order to eating", we would be much more frequent visitors. It's a great venue, but the slowness of service is a real problem.
We celebrated my wife’s 50th birthday. Lisa was our host and she was amazing - friendly and knowledgeable. We both had the filet which was very good.
Very enjoyable! Wine list, cuisine, service...all excellent!
Very chill, but elegant eatery
Very good food, extensive & interesting wine list, great service. Very pleased.
Always a great experience at Morso...ever changing menu is always good, and friendly service. Every now and then they'll have Cassoulet on the menu...always great! View is good any time of year.
Our group had reservations, but we stayed longer than we were allotted. Our server asked us to leave as our table was reserved for the next customer. There were other tables that were available and the server told us we could move to the "community table". I do understand. However, we received glaring stares from three of the employees which was a little disconcerting.
Wonderful as always. It never disappoints
We dined here for New Years and it was fantastic. Food delicious, excellent service.
Morso is a small, one-of-a-kind restaurant with fabulous views of the Gig Harbor waterfront. The menu includes unique entrees and a long list of regional (Washington, Orgon) wines that we look forward to trying on our repeat visits. The service and atmosphere add to the enjoyable experience. Attached to the restaurant is an art gallery run by the restaurant's owner, who makes the space available to local artists. We always follow-up our meal with a tour of the gallery. There are a lot of restaurant options in Gig Harbor, but Morso is one of our favorites.
The entire experience was excellent, food, wine and service. Would definitely return.
Crab cakes were greasy and the worst I have had in a long time. They were 3/8 inch thick, burned with no crab flavor. The beet salad was sad, 12 small 1/4 x 1/4 pieces of beet with dry, tasteless chicken. The service was fair, but the wait staff did not know the wine list well enough to take an order without having it pointed out on the list.
We will not return
Place full. Great wine selection. Loved the Polenta Lasagna
Service and food was slow. Overall dinner meal though was fantastic. Desserts though were probably the worst I have had in a long time. We were a group of 5, and all agree. Great place to go if you have a lot of extra time, but might be too loud if you want to be able to talk.
Even though it seems to be a small bites kind of place, it really has some well prepared entrees along with some very tasty starters. And moderately priced to boot.
90th birthday celebration
Really nice place, great atmosphere and wine, we had short ribs and cassoulet; very tasty but both plates would benefit from a little more balance.
Morso is extra-special -- a top-flight restaurant poised at the head of picturesque Gig Harbor. Excellent food from an always creative menu. Staff are outstanding. Great place for lunch, a coffee-chat, or dinner. Highly recommended.
We had an outstanding dinner at Morso. The wine list was extensive with wines from all over the world and fairly priced. The food was delicious. I recommend ordering the warm Brie appetizer. I can’t wait to go back.
Morso is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant (Sutton Place) and worth a short walk from all over the area. The food is delicious, always well prepared and served piping hot by the friendly staff. We have enjoyed the pasta with sausages, the veal piccata, and of course the many specialties.
My husband and I discovered Morso a few years back. A client had given us a gift certificate for Christmas,so we decided to try it. We live in Tacoma, so chances are we would have never found this place without that gift certificate. Since then each experience has been absolutely wonderful. From food, to the service, to the ambience it has been all great. Kevin is our favorite server. He always has wonderful suggestions, knows his product and has a sense of passion about both the restaurant, the beverages and the food. Unfortunately, he was not there during our most recent visit. I don’t recall the young lady’s name who served us, but it was a slow evening and her mind seemed to be more on socializing with coworkers verses serving her tables. Our salad was quite enjoyable, and the appetizer was good. I had decided to try something new and ordered the crabcakes. They were small in diameter, rather flat and the exterior had the texture of flavorless straw. I ended up splitting open the crabcakes and scraped off the edible portion of the interior. They looked and tasted like they had been cooked in a hurry over too high of heat. All in all, I left most of my food on my plate. The server came by to pick up the dishes, and asked if I wanted to have my food box up. I replied no. She did not ask how my meal was or why I had left so much food on my plate. She just hesitantly replied oh, OK. Although it’s been about 10 years, I had been in the restaurant industry for over 14 years at a variety of restaurants. If anyone had left the amount of food I had on that plate, at the very least I would have asked how everything was. Frankly, it felt like she just didn’t want to deal with it. My husband ordered his usual, the braised ribs and found it more or less up to par.
Nonetheless we will be back and will call ahead to see if Kevin is working! Thank you for your time.
Very warm and inviting atmosphere. Food was delicious salmon served with Forbidden black rice.
Our experience was awesome. Great food and wine provided with excellent service. The presentation was wonderful with perfect timing throughout the meal.
Morse’s is a wine bar with great food! Good ambiance. We had the king salmon and the pa lamp chilis. We will go back!
We have been going to Morso since it first opened and we have never been disappointed. Excellent food and friendly service. The view is the best in Gig Harbor.
We went to Morso for date night. It was packed and pretty loud, but the food and wine were delicious!
