Morrell Wine Bar and Cafe, a hidden gem in Rockefeller Plaza, has been a favorite of many for the past 18 years. We are known for hosting casual business lunches and as an afterwork wine stop before the commute home. Morrell has two very distinctive spaces as semi-private event spaces for multi purpose events. In recent years the entire use of the wine bar has been a popular choice to host casual events or holiday parties with upscale wine selections. Morrell Wine Bar & Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed. Had a reservation via Open Table & requested a nice seat, with tree views if possible. They sat us at a table behind a curtain just off the bar. I asked if they had another table due to the cramped, closest like feeling, they said they did not. This was 3:30 in the afternoon. We sat for 1/2 hour before anyone came to take our drink order. I didn't realize till I got up to leave that they also served fresh bread, we never received that. My husband had purchased a gift certificate for my daughter & I to use here. The bill came to $102. The Gift card was $125 - they told us we had to use it all on the dinner - so they received a very generous tip instead of them giving back the difference as a credit - my husband was told when he bought the card that any remaining balance could be used at their wine store (found that out after we got home). The cheese was good, the wine was good, food was tasty - overall a tad pricey. But what was supposed to be a nice mother/daughter early dinner ended up making me feel like a 2nd class citizen and taken advantage of as well. I do not recommend this place simply because they did not make all customers feel like they mattered.
Host sat us at a 2 top table even though we were 3 - we asked to move and he said no - he head nothing else to offer - that was because he couldn’t figure out his reservations to understand how to move 2 - 2 top diners and free up space for us . So, we sat and ate like a bunch of animals in a cage getting our chairs bumped into the whole meal. Waiter was great and so was busboy- who have nothing to do with seating guests.
My wife and dinner here after a long day in NYC. The meat and cheese platter is a must with any wine from their extensive list. The dinner options were very high quality. The French onion soup was some of the best I have had but not always on the menu. If it is you will not be disappointed.
Choose the restaurant after reading great reviews and its proximity to RockF centre. A Gem of a place- we got a selections of the small plates which were beautiful and the wine list is comprehensive and delicious- the staff were super nice and friendly . Possibly our nicest dining experience over the entire weekend.... if your are after good food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff- this is the place for you- and best of all - very reasonable.... will definitely return!!!
Came here for lunch , and asked the hostess if we could have a table that we had sat at a prior lunch , it was occupied so we got a nice table outside , what was nice as when the original table was cleared the hostess returned to offer us the original table we requested (but we had a great view outside) . The food was great ! The onion tart is fabulous , and being the fall season we had the roasted pumpkin gnocchi, also great. Servers were very quick , but did not make you feel rushed. Definitely have to return here!
Wonderful food, and setting is beautiful if you can sit outside. I had the octopus salad, which was superb. My guest had the past dish of the day, which looked very good. We were served promptly, and in and out in an hour. I would have liked to linger longer, but my guest was pressed for time, and the service made the meal happen without feeling rushed. I will be back when I can linger longer. Lovely place.
This was my first visit here. It is very convenient location for me and many of my colleagues. The food was delicious and everyone was super friendly. The only issue we encountered is that my colleague and I ordered the same salad with different modifications. The server only listened to our requests and did not write them down so when we got our salads, they were not prepared as instructed. Mine included something I wanted excluded and my colleagues excluded something that should have been included. Hers was fixed and I ended up just leaving behind what I did not like. It is not a big deal to me but hate to see that food go to waste.
Great place to stop in before a show (very convenient to Radio City) or when passing through the area. The Rockefeller Center vicinity is pretty lean when it comes to a reasonable place to pause for a glass of wine and a snack; Morrell's fits that bill admirably. In addition, the wine list is well above the norm, well-priced and varied. I look forward to returning!
