Morrell Wine Bar and Cafe is the hidden gem in Rockefeller Plaza. We have long been one of the business lunch and afterwork wine stops before heading home. In recent years Morrell has expanded to include use of our two very distinctive spaces as semi-private event spaces for multi purpose events.
Morrell Wine Bar & Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food, wine, and service. The food and wine were priced just right. Alex was my waiter and was very knowledgeable and professional.
Choose the restaurant after reading great reviews and its proximity to RockF centre. A Gem of a place- we got a selections of the small plates which were beautiful and the wine list is comprehensive and delicious- the staff were super nice and friendly . Possibly our nicest dining experience over the entire weekend.... if your are after good food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff- this is the place for you- and best of all - very reasonable.... will definitely return!!!
Love the concept of small plates to share. They were plenty to eat. The duo of tartars were nice. The onion tart had nice flavor, but was quite dense. The wine was over priced for not the best
Amazing! Loved everything. Brussel sprouts were perfectly roasted; scallops were divine. The sticky toffee pudding was heavenly. Service was quick and efficient. Loved this cozy spot.
Came here for lunch , and asked the hostess if we could have a table that we had sat at a prior lunch , it was occupied so we got a nice table outside , what was nice as when the original table was cleared the hostess returned to offer us the original table we requested (but we had a great view outside) . The food was great ! The onion tart is fabulous , and being the fall season we had the roasted pumpkin gnocchi, also great. Servers were very quick , but did not make you feel rushed. Definitely have to return here!
I met my husband here for lunch since it was close to work. The food was excellent as was the service, however, if you plan on having a conversation, inside is very nosey, if the weather permits, sit outside!
Fantastic night thank you Wine Spectator for introducing me to this gem. Jesus and Christian your steer to the scallops and white burgundy was spot on.
There is great service at the restaurant. The wine recommendations from the staff were excellent. I recommend Morrell absolutely. Great establishment!
Wonderful food, and setting is beautiful if you can sit outside. I had the octopus salad, which was superb. My guest had the past dish of the day, which looked very good. We were served promptly, and in and out in an hour. I would have liked to linger longer, but my guest was pressed for time, and the service made the meal happen without feeling rushed. I will be back when I can linger longer. Lovely place.
This was my first visit here. It is very convenient location for me and many of my colleagues. The food was delicious and everyone was super friendly. The only issue we encountered is that my colleague and I ordered the same salad with different modifications. The server only listened to our requests and did not write them down so when we got our salads, they were not prepared as instructed. Mine included something I wanted excluded and my colleagues excluded something that should have been included. Hers was fixed and I ended up just leaving behind what I did not like. It is not a big deal to me but hate to see that food go to waste.
Great place to stop in before a show (very convenient to Radio City) or when passing through the area. The Rockefeller Center vicinity is pretty lean when it comes to a reasonable place to pause for a glass of wine and a snack; Morrell's fits that bill admirably. In addition, the wine list is well above the norm, well-priced and varied. I look forward to returning!
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I try to have lunch here every time I'm in NY. If you love great wine and food this restaurant is for you.
This was my first time at this restaurant. It was great first experience. My friends and I really enjoyed the food and ambience. Our waiter Fernando was great and knowledge about the menu and wine selection.
I had the onion tart soup which is several onions pureed together and it was delicious. The lamb cavetelli was also very delicious and perfectly done. They have a wonderful wine list and the staff is pleasant and friendly.
I would go back
We sat outside on the patio which is a lovely space and we had perfect weather for it. We shared the stuffed mushrooms which were delicious over zesty lemon slices. We both had the caprese salad with delicious heirloom tomatoes. We each had a glass of wine. Just coffee for dessert. It was a pleasant lunch.
Good wine and food. It is one of our local go to places when friends gather in an area where we all worked together. Tourist area, but the greenery surrounding the outdoor eating area creates a cozy atmosphere.
We didn't realize it was restaurant week but when we saw the menus we thought, why not? The dishes that were offered were really nice and tasty. We got the risotto and pork loin. Their wine list is fantastic - I would love to go back and try some more. We didn't get the cheese and charcuterie plates (we were too full!) but they looked great.
The service was OK, but our waitress seemed distracted, and not very interested in our lunch party. The food and the wine were excellent as always! There were some modest changes to the menu from my last visit. Still great selections.
Morrell Wine Bar and Cafe is a special spot at Rockefeller Center. It's great to dine outside but inside is charming, also. The wine selection is superior and the menu is varied. You can have small plates, share or have a complete dinner. The food is excellent and the wait staff is attentive, friendly and professional. It's definitely one of my favorites.
Wanted some place new prior to a performance eat city Center. This sounded good and reasonably priced for the neighborhood. My experience exceeded expectations. Staff was attentive without being overbearing. Wine list was impressive. Food was delicious. We al shared several small plates so got a fairly good sampling. the truffled eggs and the octopus salad were stand outs. I would definitely return for more.
A neighborhood standby. Elegantly plated and creative choices with distinctive flavors and a superb wine list- I wish I drank at lunch, but I don't. The salads are lovely( a bit lean on the greens, but I'm one of the few who prefers a huge American into of greens to parsimonious protein) and the duo of tuna and salmon tartare is always a winner. Good place for a business lunch.
