I had heard about Moro for a while and I wanted to check it out. We walked in and there was no one to seat us. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to come and seat us. While we were at the table we waiting about 15-20 minutes before our server knew that we were their table even though they passed by us several times. The food was good, but the cocktails weren't. They couldn't even make some of them because they ran out of vodka. I've never heard of a restaurant running out of such a common and popular liquor like vodka. It wasn't just a certain brand of vodka, it was any vodka. I wouldn't go back.

Short staffed so extremely slow service. Food excellent. Took us over 2 hours to have dinner. Hopefully this was an exception.
This past Friday evening Moro had just 2 servers and one chef on duty. They continuously turned away walk-in business not because they were busy (the place was nearly empty) but because they were short staffed. This time they were out of all but one beer choices and one menu entree. We waited nearly an hour between appetizer and entree serving. A month ago they were out of about 4 entree choices and all beer. The time before that they were again out of most entrees, most beer and most wine. I'm done with Moro.
Moro has gone way down hill since our last visit and is not the great restaurant it once was. The food and service were mediocre at best. The wine list was worse than average but we did find an acceptable bottle of wine, but it was overpriced for the quality. Not a good overall value and with all of the other good options in our area, we won't go back any time soon.
Was very disappointed. So many menu items were not available. While I am not a beer drinker, only having 2 out of 8 beers listed is pathetic. Two of the four appetizers were not available. No espresso coffee. Even some of the cheeses and meats for the cheese and meat board were not available. This is a pretty small menu to start with so not having 25% of the items is a bad sign.
My meal was OK - my friend had the lamb and said it was a bad cut of meat. My husband had the gnocci which were delicious. And the eggplant small plate was also very tasty. None of us would go back. Seems like the restaurant is on it's last legs. It's a shame because it was very good once, but no longer.
The eggplant tower is another new favorite.The restaurant was a little understaffed but all the employee's were working together. Our cute little waitress did a great job.We will be back soon.
Moro is consistently some of the very best and most interesting food in Delaware—it's my favorite go-to for a special occasion (this was a celebratory dinner) but doesn't feel fussy. I have never been disappointed by the small plates, in terms of quality, variety, and flavor. And the desserts were even better this time than they had been in the past.

This was the 40th time we have eaten there in the last 8 years. Either it is really really good or we are really stupid. The tasting menu paired with their choices of wine is the best value in town. The high spot of the meal was a chocolate pate for dessert. To say it was magnificent is an understatement.
Great food, wanted to order every small plate offered! Ended up with 3 of the specials and the sole entree. All were spectacular!
The evening we ate at Moro they were understaffed. To order it took 20 minutes and to receive the bill after dinner took 20 minutes. We were put by the door which was cold when other seats were available. The food was ok but overpriced for the quality and portions. Very disappointed and would not go back.
It's portions was very small! Two scoops with your fork and you were done! Only best value was side of fries! Neaver again!
For the past several times that I have eaten here, they never have my choice of wine listed on the menu available. This past time was completely ridiculous. There were little pen marks on the menu denoting what was not available and it was close to half of the selections. This was on a Saturday night and is completely unacceptable. Of course, most of the wines available are the most expensive at $60 plus per bottle.
A lot of restaurants are struggling re the economy. Moro's is really doing a good job of hanging in there through this time. My friends and I just love Moro's, and it's our go-to place for a great evening. We were pleasantly surprised this last visit (last week) because they had opened up some $100 bottles of wine and were selling them to their loyal customers for $10 a glass. I KNOW wines, and these were terrific! Thank you for the treat, Moro's. Kyle was our waiter, and you couldn't ask for nicer service. We'll be coming back in about two weeks. I encourage their regular customers to support them through this economic downturn, if they are able. They are still worth it, and we want them to always be there for us. BTW, the specials we ordered were great! I always take an extra dessert home....because I can never decide between two of them.
No red wines!? Large wine cabinets were empty. Shortribs (signature dish) was unavailable at 6pm. Dessert menu full of substitutions. It was early on a Tuesday night....no crowd, but still problematic.
Whole experience seemed odd....like a "going out of business" mentality. Definitely not the place it was a year ago....
I was excited to bring my boyfriend to Moro as it has always been one of my favorite restaurants for several years. However, upon arriving we were told no alcoholic beverages (the waitress did explain that the bartender had a seizure and that they could only serve beer and wine). Also, we were tucked in the front floor left corner across from the kitchen when the rest of the floor was empty and I had hoped to have a romantic dinner without people talking over each other. For starters, we ordered the cheese plate, brussel sprout salad and truffle fries to start. The salad and fries were delightful, however we had over 1/2 the fries left with which we intended to take home for leftovers and the waitress took them without asking. As for the main meal we had the Salmon with which I raved about - yet it was extremely dry and hardly had any pineapple flavor, plus the portion was smaller than I have had in the past. As for the waitress, I believe she was the only waitress on which in turn we waited a good bit of time before seeing her during the meal and when we were looking to receive the check.
We've been disappointed the last couple of times we've eaten here We're from out of state and discovered Moro's about 10 years ago when our son was at UD. It was fantastic - we ate there whenever we visited and recommended to everyone, and continue to eat here when we're in the area or passing through. The quality of the food has gone down. The tuna tartare, which used to be one of their best dishes was disappointing - it was not the best tuna and was a little fishy. They were out of several of the "large plates" so we had all small plates. Their wine selection is not nearly as extensive as it used to be.
Looking for a quiet, leisurely meal: Shrimp & Grits excellent; short ribs perfect; Caesar salad lettuce discolored; server failed to explain cheese tray cheeses and meats; server apparently inexperienced because he kept coming back to table rushing the meal when the restaurant was mostly empty. Left feeling disappointed.
Moro is a lovely downtown restaurant which has creative and unusual meals . I particularly like that you can choose small plates or large plates. It is fun to order a variety of small plates and share with others at the table. I have enjoyed the food I ordered.

Moro used to be so good. I feel like they're not even trying anymore. I went on Friday night. The server knew close to nothing about the food and had no idea about anything gluten free. I am not gluten free but the person I was dining with is... and not by choice. You really want to be able to trust your server when you're dealing with a food allergy or intolerance and unfortunately for my guest this wasn't the case. She played it safe with the pork special. I believe it was over polenta and broccoli rabe. Very dry pork. Everything else was okay. We shared the truffle fries --- always a favorite of mine. I was disappointed when I tasted them. They were actually thyme fries with maybe a slight hint of truffle. I had my usual chicken and grits which I loved so that saved the night for me. I really used to love this place... I keep going back with the thought "maybe it was just an off night".
Another great meal at Moro. I took my friend and she can't wait to go back. I love the small dishes which allow you to get several choices and share between the table. Thanks for another great meal. I wish you would put the baked brie back onto the menu....my favorite and I miss it.

Sadly, it appears the this once wonderful restaurant is on its last legs. Food and drink choices continue to be reduced, crowds continue to shrink-the restaurant was empty by 9PM.
Although the food was fine and the setting itself was romantic (which is a big reason we came back for Valentine's day, we were seated on kitchen floor which was extremely cold being by the front door. We had to keep our jackets on most of the night. Also, the waitress, who seemed preoccupied for most of the night, talked over us and also did not know the menu at all. The food was brought out hot and promptly after a long delay to having our order taken. This was our second time to Moro and both times, we were seated by the kitchen. Upstairs was much nicer and warmer and had available tables as we saw having a drink upstairs before dinner. However, when we told the waitress we were cold and would prefer to sit upstairs, we received no response.
We dined at Moro on Valentine's Day and were dismayed to find that the specials (including 4- and 5-course offerings with wine pairings) advertised on their Facebook page for that evening were unavailable. As food industry professionals, we knew we were taking a chance by dining out on a holiday like this, but walked away even more disappointed than we had been prepared to be.
Our server was polite but was clearly new and quite frazzled. She read the specials from a sheet, mispronounced many of the foods, took too long to refill wine, wasn't great at making wine suggestions, and rarely checked in with us.
Since we had our hearts set on the 5-course offering and few of the main entrees appealed to us, we ordered several appetizers to share. You can't go wrong with a cheeseboard, right? Apparently you can. Our board came with few pairing options and hardly enough bread to make a bite for each of us. We ended up asking for some almonds advertised on another dish to add to our board.
Our grilled mozzarella was wrapped in burnt prosciutto and, although the texture was wonderful, the greasy burnt flavor kept us from having more than a bite or two.
The fried chicken appetizer was unremarkable and didn't come with the sauce advertised with it.
The crispy brie was unremarkable but the mushroom tart had great flavor.
The music in the restaurant was run from an iPhone hidden in a closet (we had a great view of this) and kept cutting out, so staff were in and out of the closet to re-set.
I don't think we'll write Moro off entirely but it will take some arm-twisting to get us to return anytime soon.
I never write reviews but felt I had to. Moro needed feedback about their less than standard meal this past holiday. Moro was one of my favorite restaurants but eating there for Valentines's Day was a huge disappointment . They have one of the best Caesar salads in town but changed it that night due to the crowds so I could not order it. The main course that I wanted- the short ribs- they were out of that. We ate upstairs and I wore my coat due to the draft from the cold from the door opening downstairs. Lastly , when I wanted cappuccino to warmup from being cold, I was told it was broken?@!%#? One would think a restaurant of this caliber would have a replacement. What else can I say? La Fia here I come.
Tuna Tartare, Razor Clams, Oysters, Sole w/ Shrimp Risotto, and Ribeye were all amazing. Server Mike was the perfect blend of helpful and attentive, without being intrusive. We will definitely be back!
Understaffed and inattentive. Over an hour and a half for food. For was warm at best and saturated in butter.
The food was good but not great service. We had a reservation but waited an hour to be seated. The gentleman that was seating people was extremely rude and told us several times we were next which never happened. The bartender was by himself and it took forever to get service. Clearly the restaurant was not prepare for the volume and took their frustrations out on their guests.
I had been here several times and had great experiences, that was not the case this time. The food came out cold and lacked taste. When we told the server she just said oh ans just shrugged off.We asked for coffee and was told there was no hot water because pipes broke. Sad this was one of my favorite spots
We went to Moro on Saturday night (the day before Valentines's Day) and of course the restaurant was full. The food was very good and the service was good considering the crowd. Our only issue was to cold air drafting in from the outside walls. It was the coldest day of the year and every time the door would open, a freezing cold draft of air would flood the room. It didn't just come from the front door either. It was so cold, my wife and several other patrons wore their winter jackets during dinner. My recommendation is to work on insulating all of the seals around the windows and outside walls.
My 1st experience at Moro was great, but was made excellent by our server Joe. He was very cool, down-to-earth and knowledgeable answering every question and offering great suggestions. The atmosphere was perfect for my date and I and the food was outstanding. I would highly recommend Moro to anyone looking for an awesome dinner experience and I suggest ordering a spiced Manhattan!
A slightly lower review comes from us this time due to the menu being out of a few items and the server not quite up to snuff. She made have new or still in training. It was longer wait than usual for the entrees but all in all a good dining experience.
Food was tasty but presentation missed the mark. Atmosphere is dated. Service friendly and attentive. We wanted to have dessert but they did not have cappuccino and server thought that they did not have regular coffee either. There was an electrical issue he said. We were disappointed and find it hard to believe that they wouldn't have made some arrangement to have coffee available.
We have gone to Moro several times and always loved it and food is always top notch.
But not this time. Food was still good, but they were out of many things on the menu. The claimed that because it was Saturday and they don't open again until Wednesday that they were not going to order more food- as if we should have come on a different day. The wine list was out of almost all wine $30.or less. The next price point was $90.00- not what we can afford. It made me wonder if something else is going on- are they closing???
Unfortunately, the service was sub par when we went to Moro. It took 15 minutes to be greeted then another 15 minutes to get our cocktails. In addition, some of the food was extremely underseasoned especially the lamb gnocchi. I was very disappointed with my experience at Moro and won't be back for a long time, if ever.
Every single bite of food was incredible as usual. Atmosphere is romantic and quiet (downstairs in best). I would say the only hint of a negative is that they usually hoard all the people to the upstairs bar until their table is ready but there is only one bartender so its tough to get a drink. Otherwise a very very wonderful experience.
Our server was disorganized. It took 30 min to get bread. He didn't quote any main dish specials which I found strange.
Solid, above average food. Nothing exceptional, but all good to very good. Seemed a bit safe with the flavors ... Quality was good. Server was awesome. And seeing the manager run around and help out the whole time we were there with clearing plates, bringing food, etc. was refreshing.
