Very underwhelming. Was so excited to try this spot on my one night in Waikiki. Disappointed to say the least. The hamachi carpaccio was the best thing we had. The drinks tasted watered down, really no flavor at all. The salad said it had heirloom tomatoes, we got what looked like not ripe plum tomatoes. Was hardly able to cut into them. The hot food items that we got were were cold. We got the spicy tuna on crispy rice. The rice was cold and hard and the tuna was scarce. We also ordered the duck which took forever to come out and that was also cold, no crispy skin either. Totally not worth it for the money. Wishing I would have gone somewhere else.
Food was great as always, still our favorite peking duck, even if they call it “roast duck” now. The thing to know here is that their menu undersells everything. We had tuna pizza, a5 carpaccio, and short ribs to start. All were amazing, my wife is usually not a fan of short ribs but loved these. Our mains werd the roast duck and crispy whole fish, with “flaming chocolate sphere” and donuts as the dessert.
Let me start by saying the restaurant atmosphere and ambience is wonderful. We did research on restaurants and the reviews of Morimoto were very good. Based on that we were looking forward to dining there. Everything started off great up until we placed our orders. Now we were a large party of seven. When our food began to arrive (note: we were told the meals are brought out as they are done cooking so not all at the same time) was when the problems began. Five of our meals were all brought out within 5-10 minutes of each other. However, the last two meals were not brought out until the first five meals were consumed. When our waiter was questioned as to what was going on, he stated there was a “miscommunication in the kitchen.” Then the sixth meal was brought out, which he ate alone as our finished plates were taken away and the seven person in our party waited for his meal. It was not until after the sixth meal was consumed and his plate taken away, did the last and final meal arrive! So as the six of us sat there, he ate his meal alone. Seriously, that just is NOT acceptable! This is not a cheap restaurant and we have dined at many nice restaurants and never have we experienced anything like this. Unfortunately, this ruined what should have been an otherwise incredible dining experience. We came here on vacation with a large group and we could not recommend this place to the rest of our party because of this experience. There are just too many incredible places to pick from. Disappointed to say the least.
My husband and I had dinner here to celebrate his birthday during our trip to Waikiki. The ambience is gorgeous- large open space, open air patio dining, beautiful decor and gorgeous views of the ocean just beyond the palm trees. We sat at a table on the open air patio. They did a wonderful job spacing the tables so you aren’t dining too close to another party and they checked vaccination status (or evidence of negative covid test) at check in. Our waiter, Manu, was exceptional! He gave us some amazing recommendations including one of the best sakes I’ve ever had- Summer Snow. We were very impressed with the food. We had the sticky ribs (HIGHLY recommend, these were the highlight of our meal), the fish carpaccio, the black pepper beef and the mixed vegetables with tofu. Everything was so good! It felt like you couldn’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
Food was unique and very tasty. The food and service were excellent! We had the sticky ribs, surf and turf sushi roll, fried bronzini and fried rice. The chocolate sphere dessert was very good with a great presentation!
This place is fantastic. Especially the A5 Waygu dishes.Ahi tacos were great . The service is amazing and friendly. Wine list is good .
Slow start (wait to be seated, wait for ice water, wait for cocktails to arrive) but really got going. Smoked old fashioned had great presentation and tasted fantastic. Sticky ribs and roasted duck were amazing. Fried rice was good but no better than we’ve had at more modest restaurants. The chocolate sphere was a great desert (again, with great presentation). Pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived, especially given prices for meals elsewhere in Hawaii. Overall, a great experience and would definitely go back.
Overall a very nice dinner with good food but service was a little spotty with our waitress not available for periods of time to spite that the restaurant was not very crowded. But otherwise would definitely recommend.
BEST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER. As big fans of Chef Morimoto, our expectations were set extremely high. This was our first time at one of his restaurants, and our first time tasting Wagyu beef -- and both did not disappoint! Both the Wagyu Strip and the Wagyu Ishiyaki were quite literally the best bites of meat we have ever tasted. The staff was superb, food was delicious, and patrons were safely spaced throughout the restaurant. We cannot wait to come back!
Excellent food, incredible service and great outdoor dining experience
Hostesses rather snooty. Everyone else…waiter
The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the setting was relaxing and fun.
Such an amazing experience, James made it very special for me thank you James . Joe was great, recommended some of the menu items, Hannah was right there to make sure I needed nothing. I love when a restaurant as a team working not individual jobs. Heading home definitely will be back. Highly recommend.
Wonderful food and great service. Just be aware the they will charge you $10.00 for a bottle of flat water. Basically tap water.
Amazing dinner. Only complaint would be in regards to the gluten free menu items. They do have GF options however it is very limited.
the angry lobster was perfect if the lobster was not too salty, love the noodles because part of it was crunchy
Tuna pizza was a delight, the crust compliments the tuna and the dressing
not a fan of sticky ribs
carpaccio was really good
Unfortunate that the Freedom Rally was taking place right on the street during our dinner. While the view was great, the racket really ruined the ambiance. I was glad the peking duck is still being served, the tortillas are now smaller & puffier which I'm guessing is due to the half duck being served instead of the full duck. Sticky ribs were wonderful as always.
Morimoto is a phenomenal restaurant with outstanding service and food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Everything was outstanding! The food was cooked to perfection! The service was great! They kept our glasses full & checked if we needed anything without being overbearing. All of the staff were friendly & helped each other out. I never heard “let me get your waiter/waitress” at all. Expensive but so worth it!!!
Sat outside on the Lanai for our dining experience. Music was a bit much and the fan was blowing on us (maybe for COVID reasons) beautiful restaurant with beautiful views. Great service and choices of food. It’s family style and we had a bunch of different food. We really enjoyed the garlic green beans, black pepersteak and miso cod. And then there was the chocolate sphere you HAVE TO GET THAT! Wine list was a bit pedestrian for me. Could use better import selections in the white category maybe a vinho verde or albariño or Bordeaux blanc, but the Trefethen Merlot was delicious. Skip the doughnuts.
The food and ambiance is fantastic. The servers need to write down what table position asked for what item so that there isn’t a food auction for larger parties. Drinks took longer than they should have to make it to the table. Would go back for the food alone.
Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.COVID safe. Tables socially distance. Staff masked. Guests checked for vaccination/testing and temperature. Service was excellent.Food was amazing;flavors perfectly balanced. Chocolate sphere hands down one of the best desserts ever! Night and day compared to the one in Maui!
The service and food was wonderful!
Food was excellent. Best food experience we had in Waikiki.
It was our 20th year anniversary as we had a great meal with the sticky ribs, fried fish, and dim sum which were made perfectly. They started our meal out with opening the sliding doors to the rear of the restaurant to keep the cool breeze of the ocean flowing.. it made things alot easier and more romantic for me and my wife. Overall, I would recommend it.
It was a great experience. This was our first time dining at a Morimoto restaurant and it was definitely worth the dining experience. Mauricio had made some excellent recommendations that did not disappoint at all. From the moment we sat down, he recommended the Smokey old fashion to drink that paired very well with what we ate. The sticky ribs and the ishiyaki were by far the star of our dinner followed by the fish carpaccio, the crispy fish, the roasted duck, and to end the meal the chocolate sphere and the shaved ice. My wife and I are definitely coming back next time we’re on the island of Oahu.
Amazing! We’ll be back! Get the duck and get the wagyu :)
See my Yelp review. Out of everything! Management very condescending and rude. Do NOTrecommwnd!
Nick, our server, was great! But we initially waited quite a while to be attended to—one of the managers was awesome; she stepped right in, served us water and got us attention quickly.
Enjoyed the food and it was a great atmosphere! Would definitely go back!
Awesome service and food at Morimoto Asia. Great ambiance. Excellent presentation of the food.

Joseph was amazing with our service. The food was ok. Little salty for my taste.
Food is delicious!
A must for dinner…
Amazing! Such complex flavors. My taste buds were in heaven.
It was everything I ever dreamed of! The sticky ribs were the bomb! I cannot wait to come back.
Very fun place for a special family dinner. Plenty of options for different pallets. Server was very helpful with recommendations, especially with a food allergy. Definitely recommend!!
