The restaurant is fine and they try hard but there is zero value here. I had the $40 scallops. 4 of them but nothing else on the plate. The “8oz” filet was 4-5oz at best. It tasted good just Uber overpriced!!

I am visiting my mother, who is a local resident, and we were celebrating her birthday. I wanted a special evening, and found Morgan’s online — the resort looked beautiful. Our server, Magdalena, was so kind, attentive, and professional. The ambience was beautiful and calming, the music was gorgeous and at an appropriate level, the light level and quality was perfect (SO important in a restaurant!), and our food was seasoned impeccably. The assistant manager, Ashley, came over and told us a very interesting story about the tile work behind our table. She was charming and wonderful. Thank you for a lovely meal and a very special evening. We’ll definitely visit again!

We had a fantastic meal there one week and a miserable meal the following week. First visit: beautiful table in core dining room, wonderful personal service, amazing truffle agnolotti. Second visit: very dark table too close to outside door (cold wind gusts repeatedly blew out candle); server provided too much un-requested info about chef and menu; music from wedding in adjacent room killed any remaining ambiance. Very disappointed.

Incredible, as always!!! The recipes were unique and full of flavors. The wait staff never disappoints with their knowledge of the entrees and cocktail/wine selections.

We have dined at Morgan’s many times, and we’ve made a tradition of taking the whole family there for Grandma’s birthday. But for the first time they offered only a prix fixe menu allowing us very few choices and at an exorbitant price. We would much prefer to order what we want from an a la carte menu. This limited menu was offered the night we were there and the night before, and many of the dishes tasted like they were not fresh or were poorly prepared.

Note, too, that we were never advised that there would be such limited and tasteless options that evening.

We had a horrid experience at Morgan’s on Christmas Eve. Booked our reservation 2+ months ahead. When we arrived, they said they were overbooked - at 6:15! They stuck us in an empty outside building that was freezing, with nothing in it but temporary tables. Atmosphere was bad, but nothing prepared us for the terrible food. Filet was WAY over cooked and tough, potatoes were made way ahead, tasted old and were cold in some places. The salad was supposed to have puréed cauliflower on it, but they forgot to put it on the plate. Desserts were mediocre. Waiter brought us the wrong food on every course. We ordered one bottle of wine. Tab for 4 people was $690. Will never return, and would suggest everyone avoid it.

My daughter and I went to have a holiday dinner together since we were visiting friends in the desert. I looked at the menu on line and really liked it. We are absolutely delighted. The menu was great . The fish was great, the appetizer and salads as well. The ambiance and decor is beautiful, and our waiter was great. I must say that I heard other wait staff and clearly they have great employees working in the restaurant. I would eat there regularly if we lived there.

My wife and I were staying at the La Quinta Resort and this place is on site so it's a short walk from our suite. It is right in the middle of the resort - and it was beautiful. The ambiance was great. But pretty much everything about the meal wasn't to our liking. One thing that annoyed us is that our waitress seemed to skip over us and serve the other diners around us and go by their tables more than us, and we really don't know why. We are definitely younger (mid 30's) than most of the other diners (>50's), but it's not like we were dressed casually or skimped on our meals or anything. We had reservations, showed up 5 minutes early, ordered drinks, but they didn't even take our food order for over half an hour. By the time they took our order, another table that sat down at the same time as us (and had the same waitress) was already eating their appetizers.

As for the meal - we both ordered the soup, which was a cauliflower soup and was really good. My wife ordered the short ribs, and while the meat was tender and tasted good, it was served with vegetables and mashed carrots that were all covered in curry powder. That flavor overpowered the dish and it wasn't even mentioned on the menu. For my entree I got the scallops. They were cooked well - and WOULD have been delicious if there wasn't sand in -literally every bite-. They were the sandiest scallops I've ever eaten. And it wasn't like they just missed cleaning one of them, the meal was 4 or 5 scallops and all of them were sandy. It was just terrible. It was served with a layered potato and bacon gratin that was pretty good. We shared a side of "ginger scented" sweet corn. Before ordering we asked the waitress how much ginger was in it, and she said that it had a little grated ginger on the top, but that it wasn't mixed throughout. What it actually tasted like was eating straight up ginger, and my wife (who loves ginger) could only eat one bite.

We spent $170 on bad food and bad service.

The food here was really good and the service was even better. Since I’m not a wine drinker, I would’ve loved an expansive beer least, but that’s just a personal thing.

The ambiance, food and service was excellent. The menu was diverse enough that there was something for everyone. Thought there could be some vegetables as side dish options for those who didn’t want the calories. We were celebrating a birthday. Great place to do that.
The decorations for the holiday season made it all the more special.
We will be back!

Morgan's is a lovely dining experience, especially during the holidays when the resort property is decorated for Christmas. We love the outdoor back patio. There's a big fire pit nearby and space heaters to keep you warm. Once the days get longer again, it's fun to go for sunset.

I have eaten here many times over the years and it is probably my favorite restaurant in the Coachella Valley. This last meal was great but there was a major convention going on and the service was overloaded but management went out of its way to make it up to us and I really appreciated it. This is not normal for this restaurant and I give this restaurant a 5 star rating even with a minor problem once in a while.

We were hoping for a special birthday celebration for my husband. However, it was hard to find anything appealing on the menu. Every item had an unique (but not appealing) twist to it; the special price-fixed menu was everything pumpkin (instead of just one or two items with pumpkin), and the basic Caesar Salad wasn't even good. We each ordered a pasta dish as an entree, and they were not to our tastes. On the other hand, the setting was absolutely beautiful on the outdoor patio.

With so many fine restaurants in the LaQuinta area, I would recommend others that offer great food PLUS ambiance over Morgan's in the Desert.
