Morgan's Brooklyn Barbecue
If beer and BBQ were all Morgan’s did, we would already be the best restaurant serving ‘cue in the Brooklyn area. Add to that an original menu that features regional classics done right—house-smoked queso, tacos and sliders, pecan pie—alongside a deep well of liquor and beer knowledge provided by a staff that knows and cares about having a good time…well, you’ve got yourself not just a restaurant but a destination.
Get there early, we sell-out often, and stay late, because we always have a good time.
Very disappointing. We’ve been to Morgan’s a ton of times before, we love that their patio is dog friendly. We made a reservation at 8am on Saturday for 7:30pm that evening and requested the patio as we were planning on bringing our dog, which has never been an issue in the past. We tried calling 4 times to confirm outdoor seating, but no one answered the phone.
When we arrived, the hostess was extremely rude. She tried to seat us inside, when I told her we had requested to sit outdoors, she replied “that’s not how it works, we don’t take reservations for outside, you can wait an hour if you want.” I pushed back, saying we had specifically requested this on our reservation and no one picked up when we tried to confirm, and I asked to speak to a manager. Out of nowhere, she was magically able to seat us outside. I’ll note that during the entirety of our time on the patio, there were ample seats available at several of the tables, including an entire table that the hostess then proceeded to clear and place “reserved” signs on, even though, according to her, they didn’t take reservations for the patio.
We ordered drinks, two beers, which never came out. We then ordered our food while still waiting for our drinks. The appetizer, sandwiches and sides all came out at exactly the same time, before our drinks had even arrived. We then asked the food runners to check on our beers, which had apparently been sitting inside on the bar for the last 20 minutes. We asked for napkins or paper towels since there weren’t any on our table but we never got them, so we had to get up and ask to borrow from a nearby table.
Morgan’s has been a great option in the past but after this disappointing experience, I doubt we’ll be returning anytime soon.
Very relaxed the staff was great. I had the brisket hash w/ scrambled eggs the most delicious meal I ever had. The cornbread w/ honey butter melt in your mouth. Going back to try the chicken and waffles and biscuits w/ gravy.
Service was very slow. They were understaffed on the patio area
Wait for taking order and food took forever!
Decent food but poor value. Entrees come with no sides whatsoever. Service was very slow and forgetful.
We had a 5:30 PM reservation on a Saturday. I know Saturdays are busy for restaurants, but the appetizers didn’t come out for almost 40 minutes and when we told the waitress that we had an event to attend at the Barclay’s Center afterwards, she was able to rush the order. The waitress was very understanding and apologized but claimed they were understaffed and had an influx of orders from Uber Eats. How can a restaurant in Downtown Brooklyn on a Saturday night with a major event at the Barclay’s a block away be “understaffed” and have a priority of Uber Eats orders over in-store customers?
Delish food! Hostess was wonderful waitstaff seemed very overwhelmed
Nice atmosphere. limiting drink choices and beers. They were out of two items on the menu. that's a bumper.
Great local bbq joint. The brisket, in particular, was tender and juicy and delicious. They also have terrific mac n cheese. We've been a bunch of times, and will continue to go back when we want our bbq fix without hassle.
Good food and inexpensive
Food was great. Service was good. Seating very tight but our neighbors were friendly
The food was so delicious, it had to be made with love....
The food was super good. Im a huge cornbread lover, the butter was super whipped and homemade, def a plus. The fatty brisket is the go to for meat options. The pecan pie was delicious, I wasn't the hugest fan of the chocolate layers I probably would've preferred it super cold, it was served room temperature. Also we had the original Mac and the truffle both were delicious. I would definitely go back.
The bourbon sweet tea was super good as well.
Went for the first time and the food was great but the staff was not. Waiters wouldn’t help each other and our primary waiter got some of our orders wrong.
We love Morgan’s and eat there at least once of week. Incredibly kind staff and good food.
GREAT FOOD ! =)
They were out of brisket at 8pm—unacceptable for a credible BBQ restaurant.
The place was absolutely packed. We had a reservation but we were told that 1/2 the people waiting WITH reservations still wouldn't be seated because they were too busy. We ended up snagging a seat to eat at the bar which was first come first serve. The food came pretty quickly but just wasn't very good and was overpriced. The brisket was fine and priced well, but the sides were all pretty terrible and expensive. $7 for a small paper cup of potato salad? $3 per refill on sodas? The mac and cheese (which they highlight as a separate part of the menu) was tasteless dry - like they just cooked noodles and put some cheese on top and forgot the actual cheese sauce. We (and I'm pretty sure most others who were there that night) will not be back.
The restaurant is tight. Tables are close together and the noise level can be distracting. The honey bacon appetizer is fantastic. The chicken is flavorful and the turkey moist. The key lime dessert is very good. Surprise no coffee is served so beware.
We had a 6:30 pm reservations on Saturday, 3/9 before the Elton John concert st Barclays. We made the reservation almost a month before to grab something to eat before the concert and Morgan’s had come highly recommended. Well I can’t say anything about the food because we never got to eat. We arrived 15 minutes early. The place was very crowded with a line of probably 10 people in front of us. We checked in figuring we could have a drink at the bar while we waited for our table but that didn’t happen. We were completely ignored while trying to order. I tried multiple times to get one of the bartenders attention to no avail. More people are walking in and trying to check in with a hostess that is no where to be found. She finally comes back about 10 minutes later and we ask very nicely how much longer she thinks it will be for our table. She literally just turned around and walked away without responding. Now my husband is beginning to lose his patience. The manager comes out. My husband now asks him. He says he has no idea but offers to buy everyone waiting a round on the house which we thought was a nice gesture. He tells the bartenders to get everyone a drink so we step up to the bar once again to order where we are completely ignored again! The bartenders wouldn’t even look in our direction. Now we are both irritated by what is going on but stay for another 20 minutes so just to be told they don’t know if they will be able to seat us because they overbooked. At that point we walked out. Whoever runs/ owns this place really needs to talk to the staff about customer service because I have never in my life seen anything like what went on there. The place is so unorganized and unprofessional and no one seemed to care. I for one would never go back. It’s a shame too because the food looked pretty good. Too many other good places to have to deal with that nonsense.
Completely overbooked. We had 6:15pm reservation, arrived at 5:50pm. This was right before a concert, so we finally left by the time 6:45pm came and we still didn't have a table. If they were upfront with the reality of the situation when we walked in, I would have not been as aggravated. We got strung along.
We had a 6:15 reservation before a concert. We got there on time and the place was mobbed. We waited 20 minutes for someone to check us in and when that still didn’t happen we found the manager. He said they were over an hour behind on seating reservations. We walked out.
the food was very good we were a party of four and everybody was pleased and the portions are large, as you would expect in Bar B Q place. We joked afterward that we should have shared the plates and ordered less. The service was a little slow but they were quite busy.
The brisket nachos were unbelievable!
Staff was helpful, and pleasant!
I’m glad my friends introduced me to this place and it was my second visit to the place and I had a great time with new friends and they loved everything.
Solid bbq place with St. Louis style ribs. Great home made sauce.
Rustic cosy feel inside. Served quickly by friendly staff. Delicious food cooked to perfection! Would definitely recommend.
Always love to stop at morgans when we go to The Barclays Center. Food is always great. The service is top shelf. Theres other places to eat, but why would you want to. 🐷🐷🍺🍺⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love this place! The food is great. The drinks are great!
I saw a video on Facebook posted by Insider on YouTube highlighting this restaurant and added it to my foodie list. I LOVE BBQ and was so excited to experience this restaurant . Our server had no clue what he was doing. We had to repeat ourselves multiple times. The menu looked AMAZING. In an effort to try a lot of different delicacies we ordered multiple appetizers and entrees. Every thing was delivered to our table at the same time. This is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. I like to pace myself and enjoy every item. All the food was warm at best. The cheese in our mac and cheese wasn’t even melted. The server never showed his face again. I had to ask the bar tender to get the manager. He apologized profusely, but the damage was already done. I spent over $125 in Uber fares to get to and from this restaurant from NYC. The manager discounted our $155 ticket by $50. This mediocre dinning experience cost over $225. It was a waste of time and money. Definitely a DOWNER experience on my last night in NYC.
Service was bad, difficult for waiter to understand us and we could not understand him very well because he was not very versed in the English language. He kept thinking we had 4 at the table when we had just 3. He forgot our drink refills and never checked back with us after food was delivered . The food however was very good
Apparently reservations don’t mean anything at this restaurant. We waited at least 45 minutes to be seated and the hostess was rude.
This spot is a most! We ordered the pork ribs! They were delicious. The people are friendly and the service is great. Considering that it was very packed and we got our table only 5 minutest after our reservation time. So worth it!
Food was good. Service was bad. There didn’t seem to be a waiter assigned to my table. Too cramped in the back of the restaurant.
Been here before and overall, Morgan’s is fine. This time, however, I stood for over 20 minutes after my reservation time to get seated. It took the waiter 20 minutes just to take our drink order. It took forever for us to finally get our food. And at the end, it took entirely too long to receive our check.
I feel bad that it appeared the restaurant was short staffed, so I do not want to put everything directly on our waiter and host, but it was not the experience I expected.
I ordered the Cheeseburger and French Fries with Pepsi and it was good and I liked the outdoor patio in front of the Bar but I wished they had internet that was working
They Staff and the food are great.
The pulled pork was the best I ever had..We had the old school Mac and cheeese was very cheesy and cooked to perfection.
My son and I attended before Nets game. We both thought food was outstanding and will be back every time we visit Barclays.
