This is my favorite restaurant at the Hotel Zachery. Can hardly wait for the weather to warm up again so we can spend time on the terrace.

We had great service and both really liked what we ordered. I had the Bourbon-cured salmon toast and my friend had the cleverly named Hamsel & Gretel.

It’s a pretty place, kind of stark but very comfortable and a perfect neighborhood spot for brunch.

Very fun restaurant, a little bit of of a foodie place. Definitely will be back, wish it was a little less pricey and a little more food but otherwise very fun.

A nice calm fine dining restaurant with food that impressed me on both visual and flavor. Prices are fair and the waiters are nice to explain all the drinks available. Would recommend to try this place out. Will definately come back.

Always a great experience. We’ve been going since they opened and always find the caliber of service to amazing. The staff is knowledgeable of the food, cocktails and spirits. The food continues to be amazing and only get better. It is our go to place that we look forward to visiting and the experience every time we dine and drink there. Highly recommended whether you are going for dinner, great cocktail, whiskey tasting...they will exceed your expectations.

it was a cold night and one of my guests was really cold and the doors kept opening and it was freezing. They tried to help with a heater and our server himself was very nice. Bread is not apparently served but we were so cold he had some grilled for us which was nice. The drinks are VERY EXPENSIVE as is the food. for 3 people it was $260 with no appetizers and one shared desserts.

too expensive and you could not hear at all and we were freezing.

I liked the drinks- service at table was sub par. At the bar service was excellent. Even the water guy was non responsive and sullen. I had the restaurant week meal- cold soup, very greasy fish- burned potatoes. What a let down. The manager did his best, but not for dinner again.

We decided to go based on restaurant week. The appetizers of cauliflower soup and blue cheese wedge were very good. I would place the entrees in the average category. They were fine but nothing special. The same for the butterscotch pudding for dessert, just average. It didn't have alot of flavor and was a little alcohol heavy for me. The setting is nice, it's fun to look at Wrigley Field and the service was very good.

Food was great!
Only issue is that it was a cold day out and the restaurant was very cold-we ate with coats on/draped on us for most of meal. They were aware of the issue and had closed sliding entry door to keep out some of the cold.

We had the restaurant week menu and everything was beige. The entree of skate wing and potatoes didn’t have another color on the plate except for a mildly pink aioli. The pork ribs were very dry.

The downstairs dining room is uncomfortably cold and drafty. The service was remarkably poor. As an example, we had sparkling water (purchased $4 per small bottle) that they repeatedly refilled with tap water. We ordered apps and the server never came back to take our order. We had to ask if we could order. Really bad. The food was ok but not even close to its aspiration.

Good drinks- but way too expensive.
Apps were tasty, but portions were small and expensive
What killed me were the entrees- the food was not great and SO pricey.
My girlfriend paid $19 for fish and chips that included a 3x3 square of breaded fish...

Excellent service, knowledgeable server, but not worth it for the money—-

The food is excellent. The restaurant is primarily a sports-based restaurant with a large bar and oriented to cocktails and beer. If you're a wine drinker, the wine list is absolutely awful. Much better to pay the $25/bottle corkage to bring your own wine.

I was excited to try Mordecai as it seemed like it would be a great upscale but casual option within walking distance of our home. We made a reservation for my husband’s birthday and I thought it would be a great meal. I was very disappointed with not only the food but the service.

We ordered drinks when we sat down and then didn’t see our waitesss for over 15 minutes. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks did. I ordered a Bloody Mary and my husband ordered the cider on draft. He received a CAN of Cider, not the draft he specifially ordered. He is too nice to send it back and drank it anyway. My Blood Mary was very weak and didn’t taste like a Bloody Mary I’d had before. So I ordered a French 75 which also did not taste right.

As for the food, my husband ordered the New York Strip and said it was just ok. I ordered the fish and chips and thought the batter on the fish was tasteless. The best thing we had was the A La Mode shot our waitesss brought us when I told her it was my husband’s birthday.

I would have given Mordecai an overall score of 1 star instead of 2 if it weren’t for the upstairs area. After dinner we went to the Hotel Zachary bar for a drink and there was a private event. So we wandered across the hall to the upstairs Mordecai bar. The service was tremendous and the French 75 I had upstairs was decidedly better than the one downstairs in the restaurant.

If it had not been for the great service, quality cocktails and relaxing atmosphere upstairs, I would have given Mordecai Restaurant 1 star. The team at the lounge bar saved the night.

We tried Brunch at Mordecai on the weekend and were delighted! Mordecai is probably better known as a trendy bar that serves delicious cocktails but they have added some brunch options to their menu that make the try-out a must! Wonderful service, knowledgeable, attentive and not too much and not too little. Will return for dinner (and brunch too) in the near future.

I had an excellent meal with 3 colleagues (travelling for business and were staying at Hotel Zachary). The food and drinks were well prepared and the service was excellent. Gonzalo was very helpful, and Alex made us feel very welcomed and provided some of the best beverage conversation I've had at a restaurant in a long time. He knows his spirits and his wine very well and we got some great recommendations and great drinks made. The cocktails here stand out. We had 3 NY Strips and 1 pork chop; all delicious. The curds and the octopus appetizer were great too. Beignets for dessert with the popped sorghum was a great finish.

We are not sure if this was an off night, but the food was really not good. The fish and chips came with one fried piece of fish that was about 3" in diameter-- along with fries (which were fine.) It was a ridiculously small portion, and the fish itself was super fishy. The brat, which had a funny taste but was OK, came with nothing-- big plate, with just a brat. Served very unattractively. The burgers were fine. We asked for ketchup-- wait staff apologized that it took so long because they "had to go upstairs to get it." Really? Then we asked for mustard and were told they didn't have mustard. I replied-- you serve brats! About 5 minutes later, mustard appeared. Very disappointing. Can only imagine that it was a very very off night.
