Need bigger tables..
Fantastic food. Lighting was a bit to dark but overall would definitely return.
Food and service were good. It’s a little upscale for wrigleyville and was pretty low energy for a Friday night. Nice for a quiet dinner, just don’t really know how it fits into the neighborhood, maybe a little more for tourists.
Great space, great service, great drinks. A little loud, and price point is a little high for what you get, IMHO, but was a good experience, overall.
Outside area was perfect for pregame brunch, will be back for sure.
Had a reservation for dinner and sat at a small cocktail table, which made for difficult dining with multiple dishes. Larger tables were available. Steak tartare had a very bizarre presentation with some sort of translucent white sauce frosted on top and served with stale tortilla chips. Shishito peppers served with sauce that had a skin on top. Burger, Crab Roll and Pasta all were less than desirable.
I would recommend going when the cubs are out of town/ the noise level was off the charts! The food was exceptional but for a place with such a beautiful bar the rest of the restaurant lacks ambience
All around excellent and can't beat the view. Well run. Food was top notch.
Server could care less. They did have any Chardonnay—seriously!?
Very nice service but not that good. Bloody Mary’s not that stellar. Had shrimp cocktail - was tasty. Charcuterie was a lot of different salami but no cheese and just some toast.
We went to lunch before a Cubs game. Service and food was excellent.
What a surprise to walk in on their second level and realize it was outdoor seating.
Great service, great playlist! My entree was a little undercooked so they sent it back
and took care of us. We will definitely be back!
I went to Mordecai with a friend for a birthday dinner at my request. As a Cubs fan, it was an ideal setting right across from Wrigley. We sat upstairs (technically a space called Hush Money) on the outdoor terrace. The service was excellent and the waiter offered suggestions and helpful information. The food took awhile to arrive even though it was early in the evening and there were few people in the place. It really didn't matter because of the great setting. Our salad was large enough to split between the two of us. The steak frites was delicious and was an excellent cut of meat. The dessert selections were tempting and included some interesting options.
A welcome bit of quiet and refreshment in an increasingly overwhelming area. Lovely space, friendly service, great food and cocktails. We also had an excellent time up at Hush Money to close out the evening.
The food is great (always is), the drinks are unique and well-made (always are), and the service is excellent. Mordecai is one of my favorite restaurants. We sat outside upstairs and enjoyed the summer night. Indoors, however, the noise level can be pretty loud. The music needs to be toned down so people can talk to each other.
Food delivered was not as described on menu
Food cold service poor any return
Loved our experience. Bartender, Tom, was very knowledgable with great service. Would definitely recommend.
Burger was great but inside was uncomfortably hot. They need to put fans or something to help circulate the air. Also, the service was somewhat slow but it was crowded due to the cubs game in the afternoon.
The location can’t be topped - right across the street from Wrigley Field. They have some bar food, but if you sit upstairs, they have a good menu with decent drinks, as well. The prices are decent for being part of the Hotel Zachery. We’ll definitely go again.
We had a great experience here. They had the garage doors/windows open. Movie going on in Wrigley Park, it was awesome to hang out and see everyone out enjoying summer. Our waiter was amazing, very helpful and friendly. Overall great place.
Loved it! We always look for nice restaurants that are also kid friendly, and they were very welcoming, food was amazing, and in a great area.
We selected this place because they had reservations for outdoor seating on a nice summer night. When we arrived, we were informed that their outdoor seating was unavailable. They really should close it out of open table if it is not available. We stayed anyway because they have big windows that were open and overlooking the moving in the Wrigley Field park. The food was terrible though. It was so salting (each course) and the worst dish, the beef tartare was heavily mixed with mayo so you could not even taste the meat. If you want to provide a condiment (for people that do not like traditional tartare), put it on the side or bottom of the meat so those that do want to taste the meat can enjoy the dish.
We ate here before attending a CUBS night game. I was happy that I could make a reservation on a game night. We enjoyed the ambience, the noise level got much higher as the game time approached. Food was good, we tried the burgers and the fish and chips. Service was attentive and not intrusive. They have a nice selection of beer on tap. I will return.
Food was horrible, very surprised since it is new and across from Wrigley.
Drinks were good a bit pricey and was up-charged for a mid grade whiskey which wasn’t informed of till bill. Probably go back once after a cubs game but wouldn’t go out of my way.
Everyone who worked at Mordecai, from the both hosts upstairs and down to the bussers to both servers, was amiable and helpful. The host upstairs even moved us from inside to outside, when my parents asked to move, without appearing to be frustrated. They made my parents special requests happen without a problem and made them very happy. We'll definitely recommend the restaurant to others.
We arrived at Wrigley Field early for an evening game and decided to treat ourselves to dinner at a restaurant, rather than the usual bratwurst fare inside the ballpark. This was our first visit here and we enjoyed it. Food was good, our server was super, and it was nice to enjoy a good glass of wine and a nice meal before a Cubs victory. We will come back.
Great did and service. We shared the roasted chicken and it was Smokey and very tasty. Great service for a busy night before a Cubs game.
We were at Mordecai before the Crosstown Classic. I was extremely happy that we were seated right at our reservation time and seated on the patio as requested. Our server was extremely nice, although not as attentive as we would’ve liked due to them being super busy. We started with the fried cheese curds and pickles, which were the best I’ve ever had! My mom had the fish and chips. I wasn’t a fan of the fish, but their homemade potato chips were fantastic! They had a special sour strawberry beer which was spectacular! We tried to order the beignets, but the kitchen was running behind and we had to leave before they came out. Our waiter was nice enough to remove them from our bill due to the delay. I will definitely go back when in the area!
Good for date night. Food was excellent. Portions are small. We went on fathers day with two small children and felt out of place - plus no childrens menu. Surprised a bit by that given the neighborhood (we live in the neighborhood) and that all the other restaurants in the hotel are pretty kid friendly. Will keep in mind for date night though.
I’d save this place for when you want to impress after a business Cubs outing. It’s the home of a 19 dollar burger and it wasn’t Amazing. If it
Was the best I’d ever had I wouldn’t complain but it wasn’t. It’s also the worlds smallest 24 dollar smoked chicken that’s so tiny it’s laughable. Skip it folks.
Great cocktails and appetizers. Will be back for dinner.
We've been to Mordecai multiple times and have usually enjoyed our experience, but we probably won't be going back. The bar was pretty rowdy and incredibly noisy, along with the music they were blasting. We live in the neighborhood so we can understand that. The food, however, was really bad. We ordered 2 appetizers and entrees, 3 of the 4 were OK (not great), but the Fish and Chips was completely flavorless. The breading fell off as soon as we touched it, and the fish itself was unidentifiable. For $20, I'd expect a little more.
Super good food. Awesome location. Our server, i think his name was Dave, was friendly and new the menu like the back of his hand.
Everything we had was delicious. Service could not have been better.
Dinner after Cubs game. Perfect location and ambiance. Tasty and interesting food.
Extremely attentive service! It was wonderful....Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying the Crackerjack Beignets!
My husband and I ate he
The choices are limited and the food is overpriced for the quantity. Our service was good. The atmosphere was good, we sat outside and we enjoyed the music.
Mordecai was high on my girlfriend's food list and I can see why now. Phenomenal location right next to Wrigley Field with an awesome rooftop deck seating area. The ambiance is very hipster feel with the incandescent light bulbs, wooden decor and super comfortable pillows for your back. It's good for both the casual walk in and fancy dinner alike. For food, we had ordered the classic steak and frites, smoked half chicken and for dessert their crackerjack beignets. The steak was perfectly medium rare and melted in your mouth, the frites we perfectly fried and had a delicious herb coating on them. The chicken was so smokey that to me it almost tasted like fresh smoked turkey but still retained all of its moisture. Finally the crackerjack beignets (as the beginning part of the name implies)....was like crack! It was a perfect blend of sweet, salty and caramel, and the beignets were the texture between a normal beignet and a hush-puppy and were delicious. I had also gotten a Dark and Stormy cocktail using specialized rum and Aperol, and it was dangerously delicious. My one complaint was that it is a bit expensive but very much worth the experience. Will 100% be returning in the future.
