good wine / food selection across the board. the veg lasagna was one of the best dishes we have had in some time...special prep and table service in a skillet as a mid course is ample.
Overall menu and meal were fantastic! We were highly impressed.
One of the most underrated restaurants in the city. Fabulous, artesian cocktails, great crudo, yummy cheese curds and burger, lovely salmon!
Delicious and great ambiance. A great addition to Wrigleyville! Will go back in a heartbeat!
Outstanding cocktails and fantastic service. From the hostess to the waiters you will not be disappointed!
I’ve been to Mordecai in the past and loved it. However for Valentine’s Day, it was different. I got a call in the morning saying we could only be at our table for 1.5 hours because the restaurant was going to have a private event. I thought that time frame was fine considering our reservation was at 7. We we’re pressured to order everything at once to get us out quicker, yet it took 55 minutes just for our appetizer to come out. The another 45 minutes for our main courses. Obviously we were at our table longer than 1.5 hours and no private party came in? Strange. They did give us dessert on the house for the delays. People came in after us and were leaving before us.
Great dinner with my sister. Excellent cocktails and perfect service. Thank you Austin. Stopped in before a concert and I will be back.
It would be five stars except that we called about parking and were told just pull up in front for valet, which we did. after 8-9 minutes sitting there we decided to go inside. Then we were told that the valet was next door in the hotel and they didn't have any control... we walked through the doors and the valet was just standing there and took care right away but maybe we should have been told to pull up next door
Also there was a bit of a delay in the kitchen our particular night. both of these are minor and I would like to give it 5 stars which im sure on a different night I would have. I loved our waiter Austin. I loved his cocktail suggestions. was happy he kept us aware of the slight delay. also loved the food and ambiance. We will absolutely go back.
The food was good but the service was very slow. It took about 20 mins to get drinks to our table and the restaurant was not even full. Aside from the slow bar, The food was good!
Went for restaurant week. Good service and drinks. Thought most of the food was over salted and small portioned even for restaurant week. Might go back and try regular menu.
Everything was nice except when we were first presented with the check we discovered that we were overacharged. I have bad near vision and many time I just sign the charge and not pay attention. However, my companion caught that and they adjusted the charge. They did apologize but given the fact that I find this restaurant to be run to perfection, I left with some disappointment.
The selection was expansive and the food was delicious!
Everything was top notch... except for the cocktail program. It needs to be fine-tuned a bit, to remain true to the cocktails offered.
Food was fantastic, service perfectly tempo’d and skilled - made me look great in front of out of town clients!
Sat at the bar and had some amazing food. The Beef Tatar was wonderful.
Our experience felt rushed and our server wasn’t able to provide us with any recommendations from the menu. While I’m used to pricey drinks in the city, their cocktails were at least $10 above average cost at similar restaurants. Cheese curds and pasta were the best food items we tried!
We love it there. Chris is so kind and warm and easy to talk to - but so is the entire staff!!! Our favorite place on the block by far.
Amazing dining experience ! Located in a city full of fine dining options, located in the heart of Wrigleyville, Mordecai is among a handful of fine dining establishments that stand at the top of the heap. Great innovations in the kitchen, top notch service. A thoughtful wine list make this spot a not miss dining destination
We had the tortellini appetizer which came with mushrooms and it was delectable! We then had the burger and roasted chicken which were both very solid. We had drinks at Hush Money - highly recommend.
Service was slow, food was fine. Would not visit again.
Restaurant wasn’t at capacity. Service polite, but very slow at every turn.
It felt understaffed. And for the price of food and drinks you shouldn't have to constantly wave down someone to refill your water or order another drink.
I have huge love in my heart for Mordecai. I couldn’t be happier every time I dine here.
Too dark and my chicken wasn’t cooked through and pink in the center. Had to use the flashlight on my phone to see bc it was too dark
Liked the ambience. Food was good especially Steak Tartare but dinner menu selections were limited. We went for whiskey cocktails and couldn’t find anything we wanted to try in their cocktail menu. Service was inconsistent with timing and indifferent.
What an incredible dining experience! The burger here is amazing, drinks were solid and the place has an electric atmosphere. But the staff is what took our dinner to another level. I messaged them when I made the reservation as it was a special occasion and they brought out complementary champagne to start our meal and dessert to finish things off. My girlfriend still is talking about it 4 days later. Thank you!!
Food was good, but not great. Not worth the prices and very small portions. Waiter was very nice, but didn’t offer any information, history, or pairing info on any whiskeys which is why we were there ( even after we questioned this). Very expensive dinner for three people and we weren’t blown away. Would try hush money upstairs for drinks, but would not return for dinner
The oysters were very good, the sea trout tartare was fair. I ordered the “grilled” chx but it wasn’t grilled it was smoked. When I inquired about this they said it was not smoked. But on the bill it clearly said “smoked chx”. The fish & chips is literally a log of fish under a very thick fried layer. The music was good but not appropriate to dining. I do love Guns & Roses but Welcome to the Jungle didn’t jive with the ambience that night.
Had a great meal. Service and food exceeded what was expected when first walked in. Lasagna was unique and good. Roasted chicken with goat cheese also good. Crowd ranged from young adults to families on a fall sat night
We are huge whiskey fans and our bartender was exceptional at helping us with pairings, allowing us an opportunity to evaluate the bottle from our higher end pours, and offering history and insight. Made the night extra special.
We ate upstairs at Hush Money and enjoyed this TERRIFIC drink menu. Specially crafted cocktails for remembering Chicago. Each one had a "theme /poem" and it was delightful. I will definitely be back for more.
Great vibes, loved the atmosphere and service was top notch
Service was great. Pasta deal was fun. Cannolis were terrible
The food, although tasty and well prepared, were small portions. The $31 scallop dish, for example, came with 4 scallops and about 6 or 7 small (and slightly tough) gnocchi. The half chicken which was served with baked potato didn’t even have one whole small potato in the serve. It was underwhelming. For a $$ restaurant review we felt it should be considered more as a $$$.
Great cocktails and service. Did not try the food but looked pretty appetising.
Mordecai is one of my favorite spots. Out-of-the-ordinary food and cocktails, and a staff that is attentive, polite, and very helpful. I never hesitate to recommend it to friends and acquaintances.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Mordecai. I had the CAMPANELLE PASTA and it was fantastic. If you like mushrooms then this dish is for you. My wife had the CLASSIC STEAK FRITES. The steak was really tender but it is prepared medium rare. We liked it but some may not. The fries were amazing. Don't underestimate them. Very crispy and seasoned very well. For desert we had the CRACKERJACK BEIGNETS. If you are looking for a great way to finish your meal don't pass this up. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely go here.
Food and service amazing!! View of Wrigley makes the dining experience even better!
Another win by Mathias Merges! Comforting food with masterful technique. Simple menu and well trained professional staff.
