MOONSTRUCK - PHILADELPHIA Ratings and Reviews
We came to celebrate Mom's 9th birthday, and it was a lovely evening. Service was friendly and efficient, the food was delicious, the decor is pretty, and we especially appreciate the fact that, although the restaurant was busy, we were able to converse and be heard around the table without shouting. Thank you, Moonstruck.
What a lovely Italian restaurant in Northeast Philly! Moonstruck has a romantic atmosphere, great food and excellent service. Another important feature is the value. We’ve all been to those expensive- yet disappointing venues in Philadelphia. Dining at Moonstruck is just a pleasurable experience in every way. On-site parking is an extra bonus! From delicious appetizers, mouthwatering entrees, daily specials to fine desserts, try Moonstruck. It will not disappoint even the most discriminating customer. Enjoy!
This is a very nice restaurant but unfortunately it was freezing when we were there and the space heaters didn't help. We were near the window and we couldn't be moved.
I also would recommend it change it's menu. It's been the same for years. Perhaps just add a few additions.
My wife and I had our 2018 New Year's Eve dinner at Moonstruck and it was wonderful. We began the night with cocktails at the bar, and had some friendly and humorous conversations with the two bartenders. Later, we were escorted to a nice table on the balcony. Our salads and entrees were delicious, and perfectly prepared. We even got to wish "Happy New Year" to Toto, the owner. It was a perfect night!
On a busy pre-holiday weekday night, it was very busy but the clever glass-divided sections makes you feel you're in your own space. Food was generally good, and the cornmeal dusted trout was very good, but veggies are unexciting. The special appetizer of beans and squash was too homey for this upscale spot. They could ratchet up the flair a bit. Soup was served luke-cold, but the server never returned to ask so we couldn't send it back (he later apologized, but didn't take it off the check). Desserts -- tiramisu and hazlenut ice cream - were super. The bartender does make a good Sidecar.
I was not as pleased as I was the first time I dined here. The service was slow but the waiter was very good. The Cesar salad had very little dressing on it. The shrimp scampi shrimp was not fully cooked. The pasta was a good temperature but the shrimp was warm. The coffee tasted onld. I was very hungry so I ate it but it could have been much better.
What you need to know
Price- $120 plus tip per couple. To include one app., two entries and two glasses of wine each.
Food- Italian using good quality stock, always nicely prepared and seasoned. Pleasant menu covering pastas which are offered as apps or full entree. The Gnocchi are some of the best we have ever enjoyed. The braised short ribs are also great. We think Moonstruck has the best food of all the restaurants in our local area
Ambiance- Beautiful interior, spotless. The interior is broken into small areas but open with the use of glass and mirrors. Perhaps 100 seats in total. Romantic
Service- Always attentive and professional.
Our experience- A wonderful evening enjoyed with another couple. Great food, relaxing, a bit noisy at first. Will return over and over
Our event was an annual event shared by friends. We celebrated birthdays and retirement. The waiter assigned to our table did a great job in making our night successful. He was constantly assuring that everything was well. We gave him liberty in selecting our dessert for the occasion and he did a marvelous job. We were quite pleased. We will return here annually around Christmas for renewing of our friendship even though I have to drive over 50 miles.
We went there to celabrate my birthday. had the Mussels & melon as first course they were fine.
I had the Liver as main course, it was excellent as usual. My wife ordered the Skate special, it was horrible, should have returned it,however when asked if our meals were okay we told our waiter the Skate was not like any we had before, a rubbery texture & dry. His responce was not
I was extremely disappointed. We had a 5:30 reservation and were not seated until 7:00. If it was not Thanksgiving my party of 11 would have left. My 3 grandchildren could not stay that long and their parents took them home so my family was not together for the rest of the night. No accommodation was offered by the restaurant.
We made a reservation for 7 through Open Table for Thanksgiving and noted there would be a wheelchair. When we arrived, our table was in a room up a few stairs with no ramp, so we had to wait while they reconfigured. I realize it was a holiday, but it was almost 2 hours between our salad and entree. Every table around us had come in after us and were finishing their entrees before we were served. As a result, the person in the wheelchair ran out of steam and had to go back to the nursing home before the meal was done, so she and my husband who drove her missed the dessert and coffee that was part of the price of the meal. I asked them to adjust the bill to reflect this; that didn't happen but the manager sent us 4 limoncellos. Shameful. On top of that, the food was truly mediocre.
The restaurant is a gem of Northeast Philadelphia where few exceptional restaurants reside. Beautiful decor and divided so you feel like you’re in a small dining room. Food fit for foodies and a small but nice wine list. Ambiance is romantic with great music in the background. Our service was great- friendly, attentive, and aiming to please.
