MOONSTRUCK - PHILADELPHIA Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is a gem of Northeast Philadelphia where few exceptional restaurants reside. Beautiful decor and divided so you feel like you’re in a small dining room. Food fit for foodies and a small but nice wine list. Ambiance is romantic with great music in the background. Our service was great- friendly, attentive, and aiming to please.
Waiter was very attentive. All three people had a wonderful meal each one different. The desserts were SO wonderful! Very enjoyable evening with great food. Wine was delicious too. We did try to have the different Italian ones and enjoyed. Keep up the good work with your attention to detail. Thank you.
Everyone enjoyed their meals. Several of us got the beet salad. I got the pasta special, a tri color pasta with lobster in a fra diavolo sauce. I'm used to spicy food but it was a little on the hot side, even for me! Lots of big chunks of lobster. Someone else really enjoyed the swordfish special. We really like Moonstruck and always look forward to eating here.
We came for lobster night...and we loved every bite. Lobsters a bit on the small side but sweet and tender. We ordered lemoncello gelati that our server recommended, and were served blood orange gelato. (Lemoncello was gone!) Disappointed at first, but delightfully surprised and satisfied with the substitute. This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Consistently good food!
We had the Thursday night Lobster dinner special and the lobster was very good. I did not care for the flavoring on the corn on the cob side dish, but they gladly gave me one that wasn't flavored. They also substituted mash potatoes for the other side dish. They're quite accommodating. We've eaten there several times and their regular menu does need upgrading/changing, in my opinion. It's been the same stuff for a very long time and can really use an infusion of some new dishes.
Have been wanting to try Moonstruck for a while. Did so for a birthday celebration and loved it. Excellent meat and cheese anti pasta (warmed olives) and terrific food. It is rare that a restaurant is quiet. Excellent drinks and pretty ambiance. Will definitely return!
We had a delightful dinner with delicious appetizers, soups, salads, entrees desserts with excellent, attentive service. It's ambience is perfect. Our party of six are planning to return to honor more occasions. We were also grateful for their understanding when we needed to move back our reservation an hour. Moonstruck is a gem!
It's really nice that the owner stops at every table. However, maybe a little too often. But the food is just unbelievable. I can honestly say that this was the best and most fork tender veal I have ever had and I mean ever! And the special, a filet in a marsala reduction, was equally as wonderful.
Since I've made clams in white wine sauce (really good ones I might add) these were just slightly under done but the barley and sauce were spectacular. You wanted the good bread they serve to dip and soak up that great sauce.
Great meal and awesome service. We'll return again and again.
We were seated immediately We did have reservations. They were for 6:45. We arrived at 6:30 and were seated. We ordered appetizers which came in a timely manner. We did not get our main course until 8:00. The Maitre D tried to explain that a party of 25 people had a prefixed menu and then when they arrived they wanted to change their menu. This totally perplexed the chef. In turn they couldn't serve us in time, instead they brought us more bread. They should have comped us with another appetizer or in some other way. Their prices are on the pricier side and the value is not there. The quality and taste of all our platters were not such that we will return again.
Have reviewed Moonstruck many times, and always try to visit when in town. Our family has celebrated many happy occasions and holidays here, and the warm and friendly service is the icing on the cake. We celebrated our Dad's last (and sadly final) birthday here in October, and came back for Easter; Mom and Sis and I had a wonderful "memorial" dinner this Monday. We expect many more wonderful dinners at Moonstruck!
The menu was limited and a little off the beaten path of what I was used to, but I ended up ordering the ravioli, and my boyfriend got the steak. Both were good, but the portion size was smaller than usual. I was surprised that for the price point of 25-30 a meal, it didn't come with a salad or soup. They did serve endless bread with oil and spices which I did enjoy. My boyfriend did ask for a cocktail which never came which was a little disappointing. The layout was a little peculiar with partitions for noise and mirrors that broke the restaurant into tiny rooms. It wasn't super layout friendly. I saw more than once people struggling to navigate to get to the bathroom. People having to get up so that other people could get out. The crowd was mostly a older generation which I understand for the price point; however, might be a deterrent for younger romantics. Although the experience was rather pleasant, it won't be a restaurant we will frequent.
