It took over 75 minutes for our entrees to arrive. Our waiter (seemingly intentionally) ignored us for almost our entire meal. They even put 3 glasses of wine from another table on our bill. The chowder was actually pretty good, and the scallops were okay, but this was overall a very disappointing experience.

Menu was limited to 5 ordinary entrees - tuna, scallops, monkfish, halibut, and tagliatelle pasta. Alcohol limited to beer and wine. Need to take an elevator to get to the rest rooms.

A last minute find late on a Thursday night, we were delighted with our meal at Mooncusser. It is the kind of locally-owned, creative-menu establishment that we like to patronize. The staff was friendly, knowledgable and exceedingly helpful. Their wine list contains a lot of Italian white wines I was unacquainted with. The owner came over to recommend one of them. It was outstanding and went well with both our dishes. I had the whole wheat tagliatelle with lobster, pumpkin, mushroom, leeks, fennel and brandy. Very good. Quite tasty and filling. My wife had the black bass with lentil & quinoa salad, saffron, chanterelles, and mustard greens. She was very happy. Very cute little dining room on the third floor. Highly recommend.

Food was fantastic. Savory chowder and scrumptious scallops and monkfish entrees were perfectly prepared. Sparkling rose wine pairing was perfect as well. Service was wonderful.

We loved our meals very very much. First, the searing job was impeccable; for both the ordered halibut and sea scallops. Our appetizers were refreshingly appealing and we ate them with great gusto.
The service was more than friendly; we had pleasant chats with the staff and the manager several times throughout our dinner time.
We were pleased with the spaces of the restaurant also, with its sophisticated ground level bar area, and the spiffy and upscale dinning area above. The noise level was low, and the lighting was warm and gentle for a warm late summer evening.
The bill in the end is on the high side, but we were not dismayed at all. In the future, we would be very interested in the restaurant's own interpretations of the typical seafood materials of the area, aka lobsters and clams. As visitors from Oakland, California, we highly recommend this restaurant!

This was our first visit after the recommendation of friends -who joined us to go again! Everything we ordered was wonderful and it is abundantly clear that the chef knows fish. The fish was cooked to perfection! I am a fan of bluefish and the smoked pate could have been my dinner! We look forward to returning...and the adaptation of that funky building into the bar/restaurant enhanced the experience.

Service was a bit slow, we waited a while for our main course.
The fish was a bit dry. If this were a general restaurant, it might have been forgivable. Forna restaurant that calls itself fish house, I expected better. The scallop was on point. The sides and apps etc were all good.

We went for our anniversary and the gave us free champagne. We don't drink alcohol so that was wasted, but a nice gesture nonetheless.

Good food, atmosphere and location.
Service was slightly absent minded at the start (took a long time for service, then took 3 tries to get water delivered) Nonetheless, this improved gradually over the night.
Good experience nonetheless. good food. will return

The wait for food was intolerable. We arrived at 6:00 and the waitress knew we had theater tickets. Bread arrived at 6:55. Appetizers took forever, even though we ordered them soon after being seated. Entrees arrived just a couple minutes before 8:00. After waiting nearly 2 hours, we needed to eat our dinners in 10 minutes and rush to the theater. The apps were delicious, but I barely noticed the entrees as we needed to eat so quickly. The wait staff showed little interest in facilitating the pace.

Great place a stone's throw from the central Theatre District. Outstanding food, service and atmosphere making it a perfect choice for a business dinner, date night, or pre-show meal.
Not a show stopper, but currently beer/wine only with a full license forthcoming.

Starters were excellent: grilled octopus and melon/cucumber gazpacho were both delicately delicious. Fish main courses were good but not superior. We would recommend to friends and come back again!

Apps were okay. Both fish dishes we got were overcooked and dry (maybe sat on a hotplate or under a heatlamp or something? waited maybe 35-45min after apps plates were taken to when we were served entrees). Pasta came out luke-warm (again, not sure if food was just sitting somewhere waiting?)

I have been to Mooncusser multiple times and have always had a wonderful experience until my last visit. We raved to friends how it was a great restaurant and took them here. Service was abysmal. We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated after reservation time, a half hour to get menus once seated, an hour between appetizers and dinner, and our servers clearly did not know what was going on. It should not take >3 hours to have a dinner. It was embarrassing for us who invited friends to go there.

Our late summer dinner at Mooncusser last night was excellent on all counts. We took advantage of the Boston Dines Out menu, and with our friends, sampled all they had to offer. The ceviche and mango gazpacho with lobster were delicious. The warm squid salad complemented our offerings. The scallops, bluefish and tagliatelle with mussels all featured local seasonal farm produce and were cooked perfectly. Vince recommended a white Spanish wine that was distinct and worked so well with all the entrees. Finally, the chocolate cake with berries and the panna cotta both were a fitting end to the meal. Atmosphere was great, diners happy, and service was fantastic!! We couldn't have been more pleased and had a wonderful experience, looking forward to coming again soon.

We were on the 3rd floor and had a waitress who was "new". She told us about the oysters before even asking us if we wanted drinks (which we did). Not good.

The drinks took a long time and the entrees took a very long time. It was a Saturday night and the 3rd floor was full, but not sure about other 2 floors.

They also did not have hot sauce for the oysters that we ordered nor did they have cocktail sauce?? How is that possible. Very disappointing. All told took us 2 3/4 hours for dinner.

Delicious meal at Mooncusser Fish House during Dine-Out Boston week! Had a glass of wine downstairs first at the lively Moon Bar, and then headed upstairs for amazing food and great wine selections. Every bite was outstanding! Very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive staff!

The staff is wonderful. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Unfortunately, one of the chefs quit that afternoon, so everything was delayed somewhat. No big deal though, as the manager explained everything and refilled our drinks on him. Certainly, the right thing to do. Our server - Mara - was very personable, pleasant and has a great sense of humor. The delays were not her fault, and she dealt with it extremely professionally.
Dinner was served piping hot and delicious.
A return visit is definitely in the cards for us.

I have already recommended it to one of my Boston Foodie friends! And my husband and I are booked for next week at their sister restaurant 80 Thoreau in Concord MA. The quality of the food, the imaginative presentation and friendly yet professional service are just what we like... love the decor, the view of "The Castle" and being able to hear yourself speak! We will definitely be back!
